Staying tall as well helps me a lot so that I can be relaxed and save energy where I can, and also so that I can see what's coming (is it a roll, is it a drop, etc.)
Looking where you want to go and keeping your eyes on the terrain ahead instead of the obstacle you are currently riding is so key. Also the word you want is "ton" as in 2000lbs. Tone is a sound. 😁
Modulate the brake - not too much
After watching your Video with your neighbor I practice a lot of brake control and that gave me so much confidence. Thanks for that and the tips in this Video. Great!

You guys did awesome! Took me two years to tackle that last steep rock face in the video. Next time you're in the area - definitely check out Leave Of Absence trail, it's right next to Rupert, a little bit easier, but a ton of fun. It feels like a smaller brother of Rupert.

You riding with beginners or '"normal" riders really makes me relate more to the steepness of the terrain you are riding. Line choice and practice are key! More of those kind of videos please.
Some of the stuff we ride will never make justice unless you go go there to check it out in person.

Really good stuff Remy, I immediately forwarded this to a male friend who is new to the sport and fearing everything. Hopefully seeing these women new to the sport will give him some motivation.
I remembered ride towards Rupert trail head and it like taking forever. I love it so much that we are going there again.
I had a chance to ride Rupert for the first time this season. I think it's the best introduction to black squamish trails. The features are all pretty manageable, especially when riding with a local who can demonstrate the lines, and it really helped me build the confidence for more slab riding. Awesome to get to relive my experience through these women's eyes, they're absolutely crushing it!

As an experienced person of color rider I’m constantly thinking about what it means to be inclusive and I stress so much about how to share my knowledge with friends old and new so we can have a much more diverse community that embraces and welcome everyone in the lands that we have all been having the privilege to ride in. @@choanlpoto Some people are intimidated to participate in an activity when they don't see anybody like them also doing it. Not everybody is like this, but some are. It's not a complicated concept.

@Remy a massive thank you for this and the previous video (actually all your videos) because I rode trails on Seymour in north Vancouver with more confidence, faster and safer by your advice of standing up and also putting my bike down to walk and evaluate the features that scared me. I broke my wrist badly two years ago and forced and struggled to get back on the bike. You have given this 40-something year old confidence and enjoyment again with your very consumable videos. I now trust these amazing bikes to bring us to the bottom of the hills safely.
As a beginner rider, this video was great. Not only was it amazing to see these riders go for it on these features and make huge progress, but watching you ride the same features really illustrates the large and small differences between novice and expert. The video with your neighbor was helpful in a similar way even though he is more advanced. Mountain bike UA-cam instructional content is all over the map with how it treats technique, and your focus on very specific habits like standing tall, reading terrain, anticipating compressions and opening lines/corners has been immediately useful to me on the trails even though I make tons of mistakes.

This literally gave me the warm fuzzies! I LOVED this Remy! Their progress was mind-blowing, and it shows how great of a coach you are! 👏 One tip I think that was missed, especially in regards to the movement of leaning back and pushing forward going down steep features: I've noticed with a lot of women they don't seem to take advantage of the dropper post enough and have their seats too high while trying to maneuver steep descents. The one girl that was having trouble with that before she went down that second off-camber rock slab - I feel if she just lowered her seat all the way first she would have been able to get that extra mobility.
Lots of women have shorter legs and their seat post don't offer enough adjustment especially on entree level enduro bike. On the other hand the One Up Components for example comes in all sizes and has super tiny design which is especially great for shorter riders. That's what I use.

Absolutely fabulous coaching Remy! Taking into account the runout after the feature is my favourite tip. Features are part of a bigger flow and learning to ride a feature as part of its bigger flow helps me with confidence.

Another inspirational video Remy! Loved the coaching and encouragement that resulted in the progression and confidence of the riders. And the way this is promoting inclusivity to the sport. Amazing that some of the riders had only being riding for such short lengths of time and had the confidence to ride some of the features. They all looked super stoked! Nice one chief!

I'm super jealous of how friendly Squamish rock faces are though. The ones here to learn on are so rugged and often with more rocks sticking out at the bottom, I have massive OTB fears getting caught up on them.

Great video I love the process of breaking up a trail into its features and getting each part dialed its a great way to learn and also can make the trail more interesting as it gives you a chance to try other lines.
