    You need to start the run farther from the stump, start with the roots not the actual stump, you need to go deeper till you get through the bottom of the stump( you are trying to take way to much at a time)(friction), by going shallow the machine fought itself and took 5times as long as it should have. You did great for a first try

      Thanks for the advice! Probably I should have watched more tutorials on how to use this machine before doing it.

    Teeth on the machine are dull

    Seems to be cutting slow. When was the last time the carbide teeth were changed on that machine? I rented a Home Depot machine and they changed the cutting teeth before I took it and it cut like very aggressively. Also I think you could have gone deeper into the soil to get more of the root

      Totally agree with you what is that? I wish they change cutting teeth, but this did not happen. I don’t have time for going deeper 😢😢😢😢

      Those teeth are Yellowjacket teeth. They can be rotated 180 degrees too. Might not have been done.

    is a small stomp grinder if you let them dry they grind easy and you have to let the machine work it out cant push it 2 hard well it took you all night but you got it done

      Good point, I believe if they would dry up a bit, it would make this task so much quicker and easier. But since the stumps are right on our front yard, we wanted to get rid of them asap.

    Seems easier to just pull it out with a tractor.

      @forestfamilylife  5 місяців тому +1

      My tractor is not strong enough for these big oak stumps, although I did use tractor for a lot of smaller stumps couple years ago. Yeah totally didn't expect this machine to take this long to get the job done....

      i have a 38HP diesel backhoe. Each of those stumps would have taken over an hour to dig out. To dig them efficiently you would need a 4 ton excavator or larger.

    Do you think you would have rented a stump grinder, if you knew it would that long, or hire someone,

    • @forestfamilylife
      @forestfamilylife  5 місяців тому

      For next time I'm definitely going to look into hiring someone to do it. It took way too much time to get this job done!!

    Yikes. Hard to watch. Hire a professional and get it ground correctly and for the same price as the rental was.

    There's little point using slow motion. Anyone can choose to slow the video from within the playback controls and this is basically a rotary tool, it isn't a bullet crossing a finish line. It needlessly adds video length time.
