- I FINALLY got my hands on a DISC MULCHER! We are up at Rut Manufacturing and out the Annihilator disc mulcher and this thing is INSANE! Just whole trees gone instantly! We will also be running the TMC Cancela mulcher and doing a complete pros and cons of each mulcher head!

Wow is all I know to say about that bad to the bone Rut disc mulcher! Very impressive for sure…😳😀
The disc mulcher was absolutely awesome. WOW!!
I know each has it's place also good and bad points, but I have the rut disk mulcher and I have never regretted it at all. This cutter is a beast I have seen it eat a 6" pine here in North Carolina in the blink of an eye. Just as he said cut the tree tilt the deck back a little and the tree will disappear right before your eyes. good job Daven.
That disc mulcher is a beast.
Great visual comparison!! That disk mulcher is a beast, no doubt. Would like to see a machine like that with two or three disks stacked on full flow! Initially, it seems like the disk mulcher is cheaper to run - I'm assuming less maintenance costs / labor. Comparison upfront: $17k vs $37k. To do a true Life Cycle Cost comparison though, would need the life expectancy operating hours of each. Great video Davin!
Looks like the Disc Mulcher is much faster when taking down and mulching trees. But it looks like you had a lot of fun with them both.
Disc mulcher looks like a good machine if it had someone that could run it. The salesman did a good job of explaining how to operate it, but Devon as always takes his own path.
Exactly! He was supposed to keep it at ground level, cut the tree and let the upper part of the disc shred that tree. He only keeps using the bottom part of the disc and elevating it waaaaay too high. It's dangerous that way.
Love my Rut mini mulcher for the smaller excavators too. Like an over grown weed eater for tress 👍🏼
Rut also has great service from my experience. Glad you finally got some time on a disc mulcher Davin. Good stuff
That dis mulcher is kinda awesome seems to be more efficient but that's my opinion great video thanks Davin
Great video Davin
Seemingly, the disc is much more aggressive than the drum, also doesn't load down the machine as bad as typical drum. I learn more with each video. 👍
ENJOYED WATCHING THE VIDEO DAVIN 😊
It would be super interesting to see what the disk mulcher can do with big stumps!
For land clearing that isn't around other building or roadways it would seem to be the cheaper and more efficient option.
The drum mulcher is for the beautifying aspect of the work as well as the safety aspect of it being able to keep the debris from being flung like Josh Allen is back there just bombing away all over the place.
Cool video 🙏🏼
The disc mulcher got me right in the eye with a stick!
Welcome to NC. I’m about an hour south of where you are. Enjoy.
Good video, thanks for sharing Davin! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👌🏻👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🙋🏼✌🏻
You were having way too much fun😂. It's like playing a video game with mulchers. This one was interesting but I still like the barrel mulcher the best because it seems to do a better job just in my opinion.
Good. Morn. From. ALABAMA
Very enjoyable! Helps to know what kind of finish you want to end with, how it will look. Thank you muchly!
Awesome machine brilliant idea
hello Davin & it's is Randy and i like yours video is cool & Thanks Davin Friends Randy
Just spent 4 months in D’ville. Had a great time.
That thing is a beast. I was laughing with you as that machine just chewed up the trees. Good humor today, Thanks Devon.
The drum mulcher seems faster and mulches smaller pieces. That Cancela is just a beast
The smell of cut pine must be great
Wow, I'll say this was a good video for me to share ,I like your tutorial. UK out
Impressive precision and power combined in these heavy-duty marvels.
That was a great presentation, it helped me on making a decision on using the correct mulching head. And saving a great deal of money. Thanks
Well… you know what they say “ if you love your job you’ll never have to work a day in your life.”😊
Really liked this video. I’ve been looking into mulchers and have been leaning towards drum. However there is a real difference for large clearing, and I’ve been impressed with the disc functionality.
Doing a job right now, looks identical to this site. 289 with a gyrotrac 500hf drum mulcher
The disk definitely doesn't leave as fine of a finished look as your drum, but holy CRAP is it fast. They named that thing correctly! The amount of kinetic energy bound up in that spinning flywheel is terrifying!
Yeah the kinetic energy that thing has is insane! I never even really bogged it down
@@idigit4967 I wonder if that's just kind of part of the overall design, actually. There's enough kinetic energy stored to obliterate pretty much anything you can catch into it, but because it's kind of slow to line up to grab the next tree, it's had a chance to spin the disk back up again.
Dang, LOVE this mulcher. Awesome! Thanks for asking if we were ok, when the camera and the tripod fell over🙂Appreicated.. Great job, keep em coming~
Disc seems better for taking trees down, Drum is better when stuff on Ground. Also, Disc seems better at stumps.
Would like to see it on some other brush cutting assignments.
The disc would be good for knocking it down quickly and the drum for tidying up the mess
They are both beasts, I like the finish the drum leaves, that disc is for rurual areas where nobody is aroung it sends things flying through the air, it seems much more dangerous to lift that disc in the air. If that disc flew off of there, it would eat a small town, that looks like 3/4 inch plate covering it. I could not even immagine what the cost is to replace 36 carbide cutters on the drum, ouch.
Started with stump grinding and brush cutting. Working towards forestry mulching. Don't want to be classified as land clearing. Calling it Land Grooming Services
Great video again. Need to start myself
How does the drum mulcher handle those accidentals that are hidden in ground mulching, like concrete lumps, large rocks and picket stakes.
Hello. These pieces of equipment are awesome. Something different. Thank you for a training video.😂😂😂. Fun fun. Wow, it tears them up🎉🎉🎉🎉. Yes, on the small pieces. Nice.❤.
That RUT modified TMC head is a beast 🔥
That disc mulcher in my opinion is absolutely stupid in the best way possible I love it
Why elevating and operating so high with disc? It appears a lot of lost efficiency and violent ejection happens with the head so elevated.
you're having way too much fun!!!
I imagine the disk mulcher is a lot more fun to operate! 👍🏻 Do you think the mulch is equivalent to the drum mulcher ? How does the mulch product compare to each other? Also looks like changing the teeth would be more difficult to do!
The disc mulcher seems to be more efficient and doesn’t bog down like the TMC drum mulcher you have. It doesn’t look residential safe
I’m thinking the same thing friend, but it’s a bad machine! lol 😂
My thoughts exactly.
That disc mulcher is lethal, not sure if it would suite your work though. I can see you enjoyed yourself though. The drum mulcher is much better in my opinion.....but who am i to say!!!!
Ask the rupp guy if they can put a door on the small mulchers (drum style)like the big one has
Love that disc mulcher! It came to do the job.
Yeah that thing is a beast!
Disc is less versatile, but it eats for days. But you wouldn't be able/or safe using it residential. It spits everywhere. But how fun!
Is there anyway to go straight into trees in a straight line with mulcher down, instead of lifting up and down?
So far, the round disk one is faster at cut down and mulching.
Both!. That was awesome.
A new meaning of 'discofever' 😂
I operate all 3 attachment on my compact track loader . Disk mulcher , drum mulcher and bushhog attachment .
I like the drum. It cleans so much better but is not as fast as the disc. Its all a personal choice.
I would rather have the drum one !!! Does a lot cleaner job 😊😊😊
You were in my neck of the woods. Long way from Eden to Myrtle Beach. Probably around four to 4 & a half hours.
About 3.5 hours back to Conway. Not too bad
@@idigit4967 Driving to the beach, it's not a bad drive timewise from here to Conway; it's the time from Conway to Myrtle that's the problem. As you know during peak season, 501 becomes a parking lot between Conway & Myrtle. 👍
Just think of all the fence posts you could have sold or saved. Those were some straight growing trees. Great video btw
For the large amounts of soft pine saplings your on the disc eats very fast........... for finesse work , the drum mulcher.
Agreed!
I am convinced each has its own place. I have a bunch of pine thickets to thin on our 200 acres, all wooded area and I truly like the speed of the disc. The finish is of no concern as I just need sunlight to the ground 😅
Hi, wondering if you would ever do a video on how to operate a skid steer.
You mentioned 44 vs 28 teeth. How does the difference in tooth type factor in?
Haha stuff a shield for the cab! Here's a pair of safety glasses n have at it😂🇭🇲
Aaaand he's back ! man Davin I have so missed seeing that tripod get a slap hahahaha
What about areas that has a lot of surface rock then what do you use 😊
Drum mulcher with carbide
The only thing I could see was you were having a blast with the disc mulcher. But you are right each mulcher has it's place. But if I was starting a Forestry Clearing operation I would get a disc mulcher to start with as it is cheaper.
I run a shearex head and im going to get the rut disc because it has its jobs it would shine on
I got one dropped off yesterday so stay tuned!
camera went aww i fainted from stick fright
Can you get the stumps at or below ground level? Great video thanks
Eden NC used to be - Leaksville, Spray and Draper NC
Is the RUT Disc hard to see over to the front from how far the hood stand up.
Disk cutter is a beast. Drum has better finish.
What would be worse using a scathe to cut a 2 acre field of 5ft tall grass or chopping down pines on a 2 acre field with an axe
Get them both! MO is better.
❤️🙏 Love from Scotland 🙏
Could use the disk mulcher for speed in an open area like a property out of town and drum mulch for the fine finish if desired. The disc is very efficient at knocking it down.
Edit: you seem to be happy with the results. As long as the customer and yourself are happy that's what's important.
The only thing I can say is that I wouldn't want to be a photographer trying to get some action shots.
Why are u not going with the trees on the right side of the mulcher? I watched a lot of videos on disc mulchers, most cut them off at the ground and then tilt the mulcher back. They normally don't cut the tree in the middle up off the ground like a drum mulcher. Try it the easier way or its not a fair comparision.
😊😊😊😊😊😊
It's like putting stalks of celery through a blender. 😄
Good job and video Brother
Why not try a side by side comparison, love your videos!
I’ll take both the disc cut faster then drum.
Only thing is I don’t believe it would be safe to run the disk mulcher on some of the in town lots that you do because it throws so much debris! What do you think? It definitely is a destructive mulcher and I think it’s a lot better than the drum mulcher when it comes to that kind of mulching, Davon! It’s definitely bad to the bone! Just my opinion from watching your channel and the jobs you do!
Good god man😳 you could get impaled!
What kinda warranty does the disc mulcher have
You have the most entertaining videos. Second would be your buddy John.
Thank you!
About how many hours do you have on the disc mulched? Any issues with it?
The disc mulcher would be good for stump grinding
If you ever get a chance to do this again instead of keeping the woods to your left, keep it to your right you’ll have a better chance of Terese being sucked in from the right hand side of the trees being on the left-hand side as you’re sitting
Geesh that disc cutter makes a damn mess. Disk might be more of a beast, but the drum cutter wins hands down for me.
How to compare your asv to the tech
The TL 12 Tac is basically the same as his ASV. The ASV has a bigger hydraulic cooler and does not need an external cooler like the Tac if you run it all day in extreme heat.
Looks like the Disc is twice as fast as the drum.
How do you haul that much weight? I want a TL12R2 CTL, but don't want to require a CDL driver to haul it everywhere, myself or others working with me. Machine is 13k pounds, trailer would be 6k+ and truck 8k+... not even including the 2-3k for one of these mulchers
I have to agree with speed vs mulching debris
你好,我是中国人,第一机器⚙️好👍很厉害👍的,但是注意安全,换上碎木锯齿也很棒的
@YenYingLei the broken wood teeth feed many koi fish look like panda bear
Is that a real good business to go into
Thanks
Hi sky lol.
