  • These instructions for drawing with graphite sticks are brilliant. There is so much you can do with graphite. In this easy graphite drawing tutorial about landscape drawing, I'll explain how, by using the edge of the graphite stick, you can create wonderfully imaginative marks on cartridge paper. By twisting the graphite stick on its edge really creative lines can be created. If you are learning to draw or want to expand your drawing techniques, you should get hold of some graphite, because it’s brilliant.
    The tutorial starts by demonstrating the type of marks that can be made with the graphite stick. By twisting your wrist and varying the pressure you apply to the graphite stick, wonderful marks and lines can be created. The tutorial then demonstrates how to use the multitude of marks created to draw a simple landscape drawing. The drawing consists of a gnarled tree created by twist and flicking the graphite. Fence posts are also drawn using the same technique.
    The easy drawing arts tutorial is aimed at beginners to drawing and those students and others wishing to improve their drawing techniques.

    I'mma just a beginner..
    Umm what's the difference between charcoal and graphite??

    • @PaulPriestleyart
      @PaulPriestleyart  4 роки тому +2

      Charcoal is a matte dark drawing material that crumbles easily and is often used for expressive marks. Graphite is a slightly shiny material, usually in a grey that is used commonly in pencils and sticks for most writing and drawing applications.

    Is charcoal and graphite the same medium? Can they be used in the same manner? Or is graphite totally different?

    • @PaulPriestleyart

      Graphite is different from charcoal but both are carbon based. Remember that graphite is the material you find in every pencil.

    Can you use this also to fill in large areas on a Bristol board? I’m having trouble with filling in large areas with my 2B pencil (having lots of visible stripe marks when shading). I’m drawing comicart by the way.

    • @PaulPriestleyart
      @PaulPriestleyart  3 роки тому

      You are pressing on too hard and not being consistent with the pressure if you are getting stripes. A little more subtlety with the pressure should help. Cheers

      @@PaulPriestleyart thanks for your reaction! I really appreciate it. The marks always happen when I’m filling in areas after each other. My favorite artist can do this without any marks and I don’t understand how. Here’s an example: www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=1639052.

    when i use the edge of the graphite stick on my paper not all parts are covered by the graphite and it looks really grainy? instead of a smoother look like yours :(

    • @PaulPriestleyart
      @PaulPriestleyart  4 роки тому

      The graininess can be cause by rough paper which can give a great textured effect.
