I remember waiting all year for this to come back, ran home that Friday, turned on and thought... "Why's that kid running around? WHO IS THAT KID?! WHERE'S THE GUY ON THE HORSE?! AND WHERE'S THE GOOD TUNE?!" Slightly disappointed, but not as much as when Pickle left. I hope he looks back on that decision with shame and regret :p
Love it! What a walk down memory lane. Incidentally, 'ITV' is written the old-fashioned way, with all caps, not a small i - we're talking about back in the days before iPhones and even personal gaming consoles were a household thing for everyone. We weren't allowed to switch the TV on ourselves. #GoodOldDays ;D
I remember both versions of this Intro. I prefer the original, but I still loved the show growing up. Wish they'd bring back a version for grown ups with modern graphics. It would be awesome.
and then 3d games were invented, so the person playing it can actually SEE things. shame things like this are a bit obsolete now. it has things computer games dont
@Kypduron1 I do apologise. Weirp is correct, it's season 6's intro. I completely forgot that Lord Fear didn't actually go to Mount Fear until then. Season 5 is where he's in an small room with Fright Knights moving around in the background.
It would be really cool to see games such as this hybridised with games like Dragon's Lair (or Space Ace etc) using the Commodore Amiga and a Video Toaster linked to a VHS and VCD capable CD32 to borrow influence form games like Atmosphere. Some CPU and FPU upgrades would be worthwhile, as would 3D graphics capabilities such as the CyberVision64/3D and so a homebrew graphics card (e.g. made via FPGA) could put all that in one. I think linking a SuperVHS as if it were an ADAT would be a worthy use of the amiga timecode for this, and those data backup cards for string 100Meg on a VHS could be partly incorporated, merely as a way to modulate square wave on the vhs. Yes you would use an amiga and a CD32 (or reverse engineered mockups like the FPGAarcade). It would make sense for the FMV cartridge for the CD32 to be made mpeg2 capable (although something like mpeg4 as say DivX3 is not out of the question).
@Stew782 Agreed too. While this one gives more of a hint to what the show's about, the remade music lacks any kind of punch. Not to mention I think in this series Treygar got that annoying jesture hanging around as a sidekick.
I drifted away from Knightmare as the years rolled on. It was one of those shows that started off with the perfect formula but then they ruined it by messing around with things that had been just fine as they were. I guess it was still a great show to many even towards the end, and I hesitate to criticise it because it was such a legendary show for much of its life. But they'd lost me by the time it ended. Which is a real shame.
Yeah, I can see that my comment sounds much harsher than I actually feel about it. Series' 1 to 4 are perfect, to me. I was never much keen on Pickle though, but I've warmed to him in the reruns. What I didn't like about series' 5 to 8, and this is where my issues lay, were the increasing amount of cutscenes away from the gameplay. The Lord Fear pantomimish stuff I didn't like at all. And although the production of those years became admirably more complex, I felt it became confusing to follow.
@@97channel I think they were just trying to add a story line, it had 4 seasons of just random quests, I know one of the series finials was very scripted but the reward the team with a win to compensate for it. Series 2 is still my favorite overall
Paul John Leadbeater "keeping it fresh" ruined knightmare. Sure, later seasons looked a lot better, but the game just wasnt the same. They'd watered it down, slowed the pace with the pre-rendered scenes and dragon flights. In the early seasons it was possible to lose in just a few rooms =p
@braindigitalis funny i learned writting and computers in primary school :P......just a bad joke with a funny side'ness'ness. guess the TV has its good points but being a controlling think box n programmer nowdays its junk.....how good did the cartoons used to be for late 80's early 90's generation...errr.....KICK ASS ! all the marvel creations and turtles has to be mentioned ! along with sonic n mario sending there subliminal messages across the globe...wouldnt you say?
this was one of the best shows ever on kids tv, it got me into writing and from that into computers! ahh the nostalgia!
i'm 35 years old and am surprised to note that i still got a vague horror when lord fear looked straight at me...
sn4rff I’m 36 and thought exactly the same
Hard to believe it's been 30 years since the final series aired! This show really made my Fridays during my primary school years!
Simply fantastic to see again :) Brought back some simply great times of me with my action figures sat infront of the tellie watching this haha!
I loved this show, and Lord Fear used to scare the heck of out me as a kid.
This was my childhood the memories love those intros
AAH GREAT MEMORIES! STILL REMEMBER COMING HOME FROM SCHOOL WHEN I WAS A KID AND WATCHING THIS!! PITY IT ENDED.....
I recall vividly when they altered the intro. A dramatic change indeed.
The hand coming out of the wall and grabbing the kid used to scare the shit out of me as a kid.
lord fear is my real dad...And i agree with all of your insults :)
your dad is mark knight?
@@Wheeloffortunefan999 Yes she is.
I remember this well as a youth in the 70s It was one of
my faves. It should be resurrected for todays teens.
80's actually not 70's
I was young enough to be a bit scared of the skulls that went across the screen. Now its just funny! Those Black rectangular doors were cool too.
Holy crap I actually remember this intro! The amazingly 80's theme from the first season was better though.
I agree
Knightmare as well as Finders Keppers and all the rest.........
GAMESMASTER has to be the ultimate though!
Finders keepers was awesome too :) ahh the 80s 😊

As if any kid would play like the one in that intro.
Whatever this once was, I wish I had watched it back when.
One of my favouriet shows backin the day very well done.
@Kypduron1 Actually, this was from season 5. It was the first season Lord Fear made an appearance.
How would you feel if little kids were constantly being sent to break into your house and steal valuable items from you?
I remember both versions of this Intro. I prefer the original, but I still loved the show growing up. Wish they'd bring back a version for grown ups with modern graphics. It would be awesome.
Memorys!! Was best this show! This was my fav intro in the series
one of the best shows i have ever seen. loved it. kids these days, just mushing their brains watching american imported cartoons. such a shame
and then 3d games were invented, so the person playing it can actually SEE things. shame things like this are a bit obsolete now. it has things computer games dont
Brilliant

Four fucking times we applied to get on this...
@braindigitalis I agree it was one of my favourite shows growing up certainly my favourite of the gameshows anyway

Flashbacks!
its actually the intro to series 6
@JonnyInfinite He's called Mark Knight in real life , he played Lord Fear!
I remember that intro!
I must have missed that.
Greatest comment on UA-cam.
@Stew782
Agreed too.

they didn't ruin it, it got better.. plus it couldn't stay the same forever

@Stew782 I think this intro was from season 3.... I agree with you though the cartoon intro from season 1 is the best!!
I was brought to this place by Snoo aliens and Ponies.
@MadcapMan hehe he's a gangsta, with a badass name!
What is that? A show inspired in the MSX game?
@Potionette81 Naw... Lord Fear has a nose...
Who was the kid used for the intro? An actual dungeoneer or just a random son of one of the staffers?
awww... they don't make shit like they used too lol.
I know it was the 90s but why did they use chroma key instead of physical props?
OMG Lord Fear = Voldemort.
@BYERE Is it? Ok cheers for that.
I prefer the early theme myself
Graytail they did it to keep it fresh.
Yeah, When Pickle left it went down a bit.
@@Graytail They didn't look better, so much as different. I missed the hand painted backdrops.
Well, when I say better, I meant more modern in their effects. I think the hand drawn stuff has aged far better than the effects of the later seasons.
Not as good an intro as the first two, but I suppose it got the job done.
Good memories!
never seen this intro i dont think... but i like the original better
@Stew782 new intro as of season 6.
@MadcapMan No he isn't!!! Lord Fear is one of the best villains EVER!!!!!
Awful version of the theme music though!
That was one boring show. Irritated me in the same way that sitting through blockbusters did on a saturday waiting for the A - Team to start.
