@DrumRollTonyReacts maybe it gave him a perspective. At least personally (not for everything but), whenever I learn about rules or guidelines then i lose the perspective. Like recently, ive been learning chess. Ive only learnt how the pieces move yet I was giving my friend a hard time (she played longer). Because of her experience and thinking in a way the system set up, she was overthinking my moves and getting trapped from time to time, despite me not knowing what the heck i was doing. Everyone is different, so they may lose a perspective cause they cant revert to an old perspective because they automatically think about the new one because of how the system is based.
What im saying, if you learnt about something, it's hard to think like a beginner because you don't have that natural freedom and want to explore out of the box. You want to play by the rules you've learnt. Sure, you could try being unique with your music but it will be hard doing stuff you did when you were not educated about the system of it, because you automatically would nitpick the "wrong" ways you use.

Vocaloid isn't something I like much, probably for the same reasons as you, but there are so so many amazingly composed songs by vocaloid-focused artists that it'd be a shame not give them a try and the respect they deserve. This song in specific has a good number of covers by singers that I love. Great breakdown as always!
You know I was so used to the sound of vocaloid that I didn't like the utaites (real singers) covers. Of course it's not like that anymore and honestly I would recommend hearing the covers if the vocaloid sound isn't working for you, but anyway I'm glad you are reacting to more producers ^^
Vocaloid is definitely an acquired niche taste so the duo KikuoHana would be more palatable I’d say. Basically Kikuo’s masterpiece arrangements with Hanatan’s voice.
vocaloid is kind of hard to get used to but the music produced with it is always Something that's for sure. Though vocaloid is getting more versatile i still enjoy the robotic sound when integrated into certain songs. some producers practically turn it into an instrument to blend along with everything else, such as abu-se-ken

I happen to understand Japanese so whenever I listen to Kikuo's music it is very immersive. And thank you for tolerating the Vocaloid singing voice. To be honest, I feel every Vocaloid Producer, such as Kikuo, is always the star at their own music, not the Vocaloid, so your focus on the instrumental and rhytmical analysis is very appreciated, and thank you for not getting turned off by the vocals. If you're not a fan of the Vocaloid voice, I recommend an actual human singer collaboration with this producer, Hanatan, they both as KikuoHana. The song "きくおはな - のぼれ!すすめ!高い塔 " (KikuoHana - Nobore! Susume! Takai Tou (Climb! Advance! To the Tall Tower)). In my opinion it perfectly expresses Hanatan's abosolutely talented voice manipulation and Kikuo's playful eerie composition. I really really recommend it if you would!

I love hearing this breakdown, kikuo is one of my favorite artists and im going to see them live soon! Ive always loved how layered and almost Textured the sound is in his music
I wanna learn how to produce music so watching your videos is always a joy for me because before I even go to higher education I can learn so much from you. Never stop!
kikuo's one of my favorite music producers, you should check out his song kara kara kara no kara, theres some really silly and funky noises in that song haha, great video as always 👍
As one of the biggest Kikuo fans out there, this song never gets old. The instrumental is CRAZY GOOD and i had an era where the only music i listened to was this song’s instrumental. It is so detailed that it’s impossible to get bored of listening to it, for me
I used to hate vocaloid. I thought it just sounded robotic and unpleasant. Now I am an avid Hatsune Miku fan. I think what changed my opinion was how I viewed the vocaloid sound. I used to think of it as a cheap imitation of human singing. As I began to hear more, I realised vocaloids are not about imitating humans as much as it is a way for artists, humans, to convey messages through music they otherwise couldn’t have. Each vocaloid song has its own voice, both literally and figuratively. To me, vocaloids are as much of an instrument as they are a voice. Then I stopped comparing the vocaloid sound to real human singing, and rather treated it like an instrument, used by the artist to convey something other instruments could not.
omaiga, this is so epic for me, im recently became a big fan of kikuo, and i follow this chanel for a few years ago, its so cool seeing more people listening songs of kikuo, i know of the vocaloid vocie is not for every people, but the melody and the music of kikuo are made with so much quality, i recommend to listen pitfull cave of kikuo, that song has a very good arrangements, sorry for my bad english, good vibes to you from mexico
If vocaloid isn’t your thing, I will mention that not only non robo and english covers of this song exist. Either the version by jayn or will Stetson are great
Jayn does really great covers of Kikuo! You should hear her frantic, anxiety-heavy cover of O Light/Hikari Yo. It's perfect for the song, and she nails the high notes, even the long high notes. At points, she sounds like she's about to burst into tears and fall into pieces. Perfect for the song.
Kikuo has actually made a few instrumental-focused albums too, like kikuoworld 1, 2, 3 and bell of the dream! While in addition to kikuohana (which is amazing both for his music and Hanatan's extraordinary vocal rage, so definitely worth checking out!) there's the ikitama project (kikuo ft. si_ku), and in the newest album he made many songs with a much more realistic sounding voicebank called Qi Xuan. Anyways, than you for the great reaction and analysis!
Great feedback! I'm surprised he didn't mention "chaotic" nature of the percussion or the feelings of disarray that the song evokes because of it... the arrangement aligns perfectly with the dark and almost sinister lyrics. Wonderful composition overall. Quite unsettling. :)
KIKUO YES!! I've loved kikuo for so long this makes me so happy! tho I noticed that the robotic voice isn't of your liking haha, so I recomend songs like Hitogawari, O Light, The girl who brings misfortune or It's another maze here, all of these are composed by Kikuo and sung by a human voice :) as a fun fact, Kenshi Yonezu, the one who made Kick Back, started his career as a vocaloid producer under the pseudonym of Hachi
the fun thing you might like is hearing covers of vocaloid/utauloid songs with humans singing them. tho not all covers are equal or have good vocal mixing or a fitting voice for the song , some do! that way you get the human voices you prefer with still the excellent instrumental production. and there are also some cases where vocaloid/utauloids are almost indistinguishable from a human voice depending on who tuned the vocaloid/utauloid tho this is very difficult to pull off. "Kyaami" is often known as the queen of Tuning vocaloids/utauloids so her covers ( they are vocaloid/utauloid covers so it doesnt use her own voice tho she has used her real voice once i think ) would be a great way to start with that. ( 【VY1V4】Donor Song【Cover】 being my personal recommendation and it uses a vocaloid ) P.S Utauloid is basically Vocaloid but it is more Indie and is free/opensource and can be used with your own voice too. it often has a bit of a different sound than vocaloid too but its still in the same ballpark.
I think the more time passes, and the more Vocaloid technology advances/diversifies, people will start to really understand and warm up to the usage of Vocaloid in music, including Tony.
@@DrumRollTonyReacts Oh, hey Tony. I don't think vocaloids are going to be replacing real singers any time soon. You're never going to see voice synthesis on any Top 40 song or anything. Vocaloid is, at its very simplest, taking "voice as an instrument" and synthesizing that. Synths in general have been around for a hot minute, and I couldn't put a number on how many drummers were out of work because of drum machines, or how devastating the introduction of keyboards was, but it seems to me that "real music" is still going strong. You're entitled to your opinion, of course, but there are so many talented producers who either aren't comfortable singing on a track or just want to experiment, and using a vocaloid is one method of doing that. They don't occupy the same lane as most other artists, in fact, a much much smaller one (even in Japan.) And keep in mind, there are a LOT of people who do covers of songs by vocaloid producers, in their own voices. And a lot of well-known Japanese artists had their come-up off of those covers. Not to mention those vocaloid producers themselves who eventually moved on to produce for live acts.
@@defeatableairman Top 40? LOL that is not real vocals. That is all super processed and massively fine tuned to a degree of not sounding like an actual person singing. Like... I don't know how to explain that the more we invent tools that replace humans the easier it is to just shift into that gear. If one does not need to learn how to sing or go out into the world to work with a vocalist, people wont because that gets easier over time. Look at how much fake stuff is written via DAWS now. You can hardly tell if an orchestra is real or not anymore in some genres like video game music. We have already replaced instrumentalists over the years. The AI trend now is in full effect and as soon as the west discovers vocaloid and make it sound less synthetic... its game over for so many working/session/teaching vocalists. Why do people go see a DJ live? Like... its as common as water experience now but when it first was an idea I'm sure it was like "oh don't worry, people will still have club gigs 4 nights a week" The DJ used to be a gig filled by many working musicians in a band or other ensemble types. I get that people cover Vocaloid material and it helps get folks started. That is not a new concept by any means. Musicians used to have to know and understand music to a point of being able to write it by hand for all ensemble types. Musicians would learn, cover, arrange etc on those same compositions. We are just so far removed from a lot of organic creative approaches that things have permanently shifted.
@@DrumRollTonyReacts Yes, most mainstream modern vocals are touched up. We all know it's true. It's been true for a while, actually. Cher was proof of concept that Autotune could be used to conceal one's vocal deficiencies, but over time, people started realizing that it could be used not just for correction but for modification, to create an effect on one's voice to make a completely new sound. Not just guys like T-Pain and Travis Scott, but a lot of EDM producers use it not only for pitch correction, but just to provide a different sound. But even in the Top 40, Top 100, there ARE singers who are still authentic. In fact, things have been trending MORE towards authenticity with the whole bedroom pop thing that's been charting. I'm not going to say the engineers don't touch on their vocals AT ALL, but...engineers need jobs too, and mixers, producers, they need work too. I've never been part of a band and had to look for gigs, so I acknowledge that you have a lot more perspective on all of this, but I can at least say there's still an interest in "real music" out there, even for the kids out there that grew up in the smartphone age. You can't get a vocaloid to do a bar gig or play at a small arena. People still want to see people play, and that's always going to be true as long as we're still people. There is still plenty of room for creativity, and the fact that musicians don't have to have a grasp on writing/covering/arranging means that people can express and produce the music in their head much more easily. You and I are probably from different generations (though not as far apart as you might think) but trust, I love to hear "real music" just as much as you. Like I said, vocaloid music/electronic music/Auto-crooners all occupy different lanes. It's not that the "real music" highway has gotten smaller, they just added a few lanes to help the traffic flow easier. The whole AI debate is a different story...the idea is that AI would help humans do all the menial endeavors so humans could focus on art and things that need a human touch, but sadly that doesn't seem to be the case. We're getting to the point where AI can produce songs and art from whole cloth--now THAT is a problem. But that's a separate discussion from how vocaloid is used in music. I love having discussions about music stuff though!
I love your reaction to Vocaloids, especially producers like Wowaka and Kikuo, because they make the most of Vocaloids and make songs that no one else does. And the way you break down every detail of the song is really cool, there are a lot of reactionaries who look at the picture and try to understand the meaning of the song, and you break down the music. It's really cool. I would like more feedback on Vocaloids, especially the unique Vocaloids songs. And there are actually a lot of them. I want to see the reaction to my favorite Vocaloid song "Magical Girl and Chocolate". P.S: sorry for the bad english, I'm from another country, so there may be errors in the text.
Kikuo really translate the theme of Mental sickness into composition, theres something really feels off almost in all the of the song troughout. and as of mental sickness its there obviously but you wont see it right there out in the open. its hidden benetah layers and layers of what seems to be "normal stuff" damn thats really hard to do, and it turns out to be a banger too.
i tell my own thing, i'm dancing with the song while smiling, then i read the lyric and meaning behind it and i crying while smiling:). these kind a song maybe give the other me some fun while listening it:).
It's too bad you reacted to this only two months ago, Nerissa Ravencroft released an english cover of this song just after her debut and absolutely CRUSHED it. She translated the lyrics herself, and since this song uses so many phrases and idioms that only really work in Japanese, it's always interesting to hear another artist's take on the (frankly disturbing and personal) lyrics. The song's lyrics are about struggling with low self-worth and how people slide into near-insanity from craving affirmation. The pre-chorus talks about how worrying about people's view of oneself is "tightening like a noose on my neck" which is... blunt. Another part talks about how "no matter how big you get you continue to grow, but the noose stays just as small" which is a similar but entirely different metaphor - as you get older, people are less likely to praise you. Japanese songwriters don't hold back, and this song really shows that. Any western artist would skirt around the raw emotion, giving a glimpse into their mental state without outright laying out their emotion. However, Kikuo and a lot of other Japanese artists are, comparatively, extremely honest about how they feel. It's simultaneously refreshing and almost uncomfortable, which I love.
@@DrumRollTonyReacts I don't fully agree with the western hate part, Maybe in pop culture it may be like that. Artists of every nationality wear their feelings in their music. I highly suggest Nerissa's cover though. Even the arrangement had bass turned up a notch. She just Debut with Hololive and the video already passed a 1m views. I actually looked through a lot of videos and found you have not experienced any of Hololive on your channel yet. I look forward to seeing when you do, I will watch every video!
@@AoiBento Exactly. Where do you think Jazz was created? That is an American artform. The ultimate delivery of emotion and feeling delivered without the need of lyrics as everything is said in the music itself. But I do agree with you about EVERYWHERE has great musicians doing great things once you get away from the garbage.
there/s a new eng vturber that did this song and her cover might be the very best out of all english cover songs ive heard, especially the changes in arrangements to suit the language
Kikuo is just so talented!! Definitely check Kikuohana, the song is done by Kikuo with all the greatness but with human vocals done by Hanatan whose voice is just so amazing. I feel like you would like their songs.
Fun fact: the english lyrics you see on screen is not part of the video. It's youtube closed caption added in post. Some madlad took the time to design it to fit perfectly with the video
Omg kikuo! Wow I never thought i would see someone reacting to his music. Vocaloid is not for everyone but the people behind the music are honestly awesome, i suggest you listen to some wowaka songs, that would be interesting truly. UA-cam randomly recommend me your chanel and I can say i will definitely watch your streams and videos, you make me enjoy even more the music with those explanation, good job 🖤
KIKUO REACT LEZ GOO Edit: it seems the vocaloid voice isnt in your liking, then i recommend utaite (ppl who covers vocaloid song and theres much more info about them) best cover for this song aishite is miyashita yuu and kanade izuru
If you like kikuo songs but aren't that fond of the vocaloid sound you should totally check out collab songs he does with hanatan like hitogawari! Shes an AMAZING singer amd thier songs together are still great, just with more "realness" while keeping kikuos unique sound!!
If you don't like vocaloid but like how this composer did this arrangement, you could react to something from his KikuoHana collabs, like "The Girl who Sells Misfortune"
In kikuos newer works he uses a different vocaloid and he’s learnt to tune them differently so they sound a bit less “robotic”. I really recommend the songs “missing missing”/ 見つかんない 見つかんない and “XxX cat”/ バツ猫 ! they both have MV :) XxX cat is the same vocaloid but Missing Missing is a different one that in my opinion almost sounds human
if you dont really like the sound of vocaloid, kikuo is very popular and theres plenty of covers by utaites (real people covering vocaloid songs) out there! kikuos stuff is super unique, i recommend hole dwelling, kara kara kara no kara, a deep dark forest, and dance of the frogs. he really plays around with music like no other
Even if vocaloid isn't your cup of tea, you can't lie that vocaloid music sounds super interesting in the way these producers arrange their songs and the many different ways of pitching Miku's or any other vocaloids is just different if you really listen to the manipulation on vocals. But I'm glad you analyzed and reached to this cause Kikuo is an OG in the game and his songs have deep horrific meaning and the way he uses Miku's voice in this eerie way is just his style lol

I wanna learn how to produce music so watching your videos is always a joy for me because before I even go to higher education I can learn so much from you. Never stop!
Finally! Kikuo!
Please do more Kikuo reactions whenever you can. The song “Hole Dwelling” is one of his best
NO WAY I FUCKING LOVE KIKUO MY FAVORITE ARTIST HOLY SHIT NO WAY TONY
kikuo's one of my favorite music producers, you should check out his song kara kara kara no kara, theres some really silly and funky noises in that song haha, great video as always 👍
As one of the biggest Kikuo fans out there, this song never gets old. The instrumental is CRAZY GOOD and i had an era where the only music i listened to was this song’s instrumental. It is so detailed that it’s impossible to get bored of listening to it, for me
I like these vocaloid songs because they use the voice more like an instrument then a stand in for a real singer
He's talking about the instrumental sounds and im here getting chills over the lyrics
And this is why we stan Kikuo🫶
If vocaloid isn’t your thing, I will mention that not only non robo and english covers of this song exist. Either the version by jayn or will Stetson are great
Will Stetson's Rock Version is *chef's kiss*
To add on, there's also a cover by Jubyphonic, and she can really hit those high notes 👀
also Oktavia i believe
@@LittleBlackcat14imo Juby abuses autotune a little too much
@MapleKitten All a matter of personal preference, I guess!
Esto ya lo habia escuchado antes, pero detenerme a escuchar todos sus detalles,es asombroso
This song only fits in Vocaloid more than human because the coldness of a robotic voice combine with the music and lyrics is SCARY.
Я удивлена. Он сделал реакцию на эту вещь. Она классная, надеюсь, еë оценят по достоинству.
I’m hyped to hear what you think about the background bassy layer in this one
Honestly one of my favorite songs
Vocaloid musics are like treasures waiting to be discovered. Wish to see more reaction about that!
Another bop song of kikuo is don't look at me like that even tho it's pretty old it just sounds so good
Ado covered this song in her new album, its definitely a must watch sooooo good
i was ;istening to this song like couple of years ago and benn watching you for an year and somehow havent seen this reaction this all time
kikuo is so good even the subtitles are dancing
Great feedback! I'm surprised he didn't mention "chaotic" nature of the percussion or the feelings of disarray that the song evokes because of it... the arrangement aligns perfectly with the dark and almost sinister lyrics. Wonderful composition overall. Quite unsettling. :)
KIKUO YES!! I've loved kikuo for so long this makes me so happy!
tho I noticed that the robotic voice isn't of your liking haha, so I recomend songs like Hitogawari, O Light, The girl who brings misfortune or It's another maze here, all of these are composed by Kikuo and sung by a human voice :)
as a fun fact, Kenshi Yonezu, the one who made Kick Back, started his career as a vocaloid producer under the pseudonym of Hachi
Bro the digigigigididgidi 👁️👄👁️
😂
You should check out the kikuohana colab they did. Same fun arrangements with a fantastic vocalist.
you should totally react to more kikuo stuff!! all his music has a variety of silly sounds! very entertaining to disect!
I wonder what he would think about the song "Kara Kara no Kara" of kikuo..... that instrumental is so chaotic
Thank you Lyn, we all love you
the fun thing you might like is hearing covers of vocaloid/utauloid songs with humans singing them. tho not all covers are equal or have good vocal mixing or a fitting voice for the song , some do!
that way you get the human voices you prefer with still the excellent instrumental production. and there are also some cases where vocaloid/utauloids are almost indistinguishable from a human voice depending on who tuned the vocaloid/utauloid tho this is very difficult to pull off. "Kyaami" is often known as the queen of Tuning vocaloids/utauloids so her covers ( they are vocaloid/utauloid covers so it doesnt use her own voice tho she has used her real voice once i think ) would be a great way to start with that. ( 【VY1V4】Donor Song【Cover】
being my personal recommendation and it uses a vocaloid )
P.S Utauloid is basically Vocaloid but it is more Indie and is free/opensource and can be used with your own voice too. it often has a bit of a different sound than vocaloid too but its still in the same ballpark.
The subtittle was so cool
I think the more time passes, and the more Vocaloid technology advances/diversifies, people will start to really understand and warm up to the usage of Vocaloid in music, including Tony.
I would rather not see more vocalists out of work because they are replaced with synthetic voice systems 😒
Why is no one mentioning Kanade Izuru’s cover?? Its so amazing and VERY UNIQUE LIKE DAMN DUDE
WHAT IM SAYING
Not gonna lie I've been waiting for this one since I found your channel.
Kikuo really translate the theme of Mental sickness into composition, theres something really feels off almost in all the of the song troughout. and as of mental sickness its there obviously but you wont see it right there out in the open. its hidden benetah layers and layers of what seems to be "normal stuff"
damn thats really hard to do, and it turns out to be a banger too.
Oh, this is going to be good 😮
i tell my own thing, i'm dancing with the song while smiling, then i read the lyric and meaning behind it and i crying while smiling:). these kind a song maybe give the other me some fun while listening it:).
Lol the westerner hate
One of my very favorite artists.
Very cool reaction to a great song/artist
Kikuo is just so talented!! Definitely check Kikuohana, the song is done by Kikuo with all the greatness but with human vocals done by Hanatan whose voice is just so amazing. I feel like you would like their songs.
“Interesting..” HAHAAH I LOVE HOW NEUTRAL YOURE TRYING TO BE😂 you should try reacting to covers of vocaloids.
I always loved how wild it is
Fun fact: the english lyrics you see on screen is not part of the video. It's youtube closed caption added in post. Some madlad took the time to design it to fit perfectly with the video
Nerissa Ravencroft just did an English Cover of this, i think it would be easier to understand that version :D
Amazing analysis
I feel like he would definitely enjoy the instrumental of Hole Dwelling
KIKUO REACT LEZ GOO
Edit: it seems the vocaloid voice isnt in your liking, then i recommend utaite (ppl who covers vocaloid song and theres much more info about them) best cover for this song aishite is miyashita yuu and kanade izuru
The subtitles are also a banger
i know im really late, but you should try listening to ado's aishite cover! Since you said you dont really like vocaloid that much
If you like kikuo songs but aren't that fond of the vocaloid sound you should totally check out collab songs he does with hanatan like hitogawari! Shes an AMAZING singer amd thier songs together are still great, just with more "realness" while keeping kikuos unique sound!!
I won't tolerate people saying anything bad to vocaloids voices
They sound like Monkey 💩
If you don't like vocaloid but like how this composer did this arrangement, you could react to something from his KikuoHana collabs, like "The Girl who Sells Misfortune"
You absolutely have to check out Desert Theater by KikuoHana!! Hanatans voice is amazing, and I think you would enjoy it a lot!!
its time
In kikuos newer works he uses a different vocaloid and he’s learnt to tune them differently so they sound a bit less “robotic”. I really recommend the songs “missing missing”/ 見つかんない 見つかんない and “XxX cat”/ バツ猫 ! they both have MV :)
XxX cat is the same vocaloid but Missing Missing is a different one that in my opinion almost sounds human
Bruh it's been 8 damn years🗿
Kara, kara, kara no kara from Kikuo has a very impressive arrangement
Finally, Kikuo
Need to have this mans react to Miori's cover of this or Nerissa's english ver cover of this. LOVE vtubers covering vocaloid music.
if you dont really like the sound of vocaloid, kikuo is very popular and theres plenty of covers by utaites (real people covering vocaloid songs) out there! kikuos stuff is super unique, i recommend hole dwelling, kara kara kara no kara, a deep dark forest, and dance of the frogs. he really plays around with music like no other
There's a vocal cover of this song that makes this song even better, you can search for Yuu Myiashita on UA-cam and listen to he's awesome cover
If you liked this one then maybe you'd also like hole-dwelling by kikuo. The voiced is a bit deeper but the music is a whole other level!
