Ado's range of emotional performance is perfect for this song which is basically the unhinged rant of a neglected child growing up into an attention seeker but never being able to have the void filled. The dainty whispering she does reflects this perfectionist persona the child creates in order to gain affection that then bursts into strait up screams of anger and frustration when she finally gets what she wants but is never satisfied. Ado perfectly displayed the tragedy of the song to the most extreme and we love her for that!
Yeah, it's absolutely amazing how she can bring so much fear, vulnerability, anxiety, frustration, anger, and downright unhinged near-insanity to her voice. She can literally tell entire dramatic stories with her tone control alone, don't even need lyrics to understand what's going on.

Hey Chris, I know it's been ages, but for the audience this might be good to know. That inhale you hear at 9:26 is actually a characterisation moment that she does in the first verse too. She's saying "ne," which is typically added to the end of sentences when you're asking if your statement is correct in the same way we add "..., right?" or "..., am I right?" or any of those similar tails. She intentionally pitches it down to turn the innocent statement before it into a threatening question.
4:18 THIS IS UNIRONICALLY THE FIRST TIME EVER A SONG HAS MADE ME PHYSICALLY STAND UP, SCREAM AND LIKE GENERALLY HAVE A PHYSICAL REACTION OF THAT LEVEL. HOLY SHIT DUDE
It's almost theater I'd say, the professional level at wich she expresses the emotions underlying the lyrics, it's more intense than what we usually hear in western music. I could really feel the child suffering on the last scream, trying to be loved, wich is what the lyrics is about
A lot of people currently are on a hate train because of how she does things recently, people go oh its just screaming, there's nothing special about it, she just screams, but to get to that point you have to be extremely persistent and continuously learn, mind you ado is only 21 years old as well
Being able to scream like that in multiple songs yet managing to not hurt yourself prolly takes a lot of training.Im not someone who sings so idk,but her singing is just impressive to me.
12:41 This made me cry while smiling wtf. You can feel the emotion so much you could cry, but also smile because she sounds like she held nothing back to be able to even sound like that. She's just so amazing!!!!!
I was privileged enough to be able to go to her concert in Bangkok, was able to listen to this song live! She has a gorgeous voice, my friend and I were incredibly ecstatic when this song came on!
I saw Ado sing this live and there's actually not enough superlatives on how insane her vocals are. The scary part to me is how she nails every note live just as well as she does in her recordings lol. I'm glad that her talent is being more recognized, I feel like what she does with her voice will have quite a large impact on how people approach creating music. Thanks for the vid Chris that was cool to see your analysis you broke it down in such a way thats so easy to understand.
this was a really good breakdown! I absolutely love Ado and her singing is actually insane, like unbelievably good. but man i was giggling at some of your examples LOL without context it's just bro screaming into his mic
Breaking down Ado's cover for this one really let me take in the emotion for each technique she use. This song title is "Love me, Love me, Love me" and is essentially about the insatiable desire of wanting more love and the person this song is directing to "isn't enough". So it really gave a mentally unstable vibe, which is what I get from Ado's choice of using very contrasting techniques from one part to the next. Ado is really good at putting emotions on lyrics imo. So even without understanding the lyrics, we can still get the vibe of the song.
Another great reaction! The way ado uses her voice and range to express emotion is crazy and there's just that WOW factor to it, I love the flexibility of her voice. I also recommend a cover artist ueno yorunouta, theyre not well known but their singing also caught my attention lately. I'm looking forward to more videos
Just saw her concert in LA. This was one of my favorite songs of her set. Not just the beautiful singing but the combination of the lighting effects and the background display really matched perfectly. With Ussewa, Tot Musica, and Rebellion hitting so wonderfully hard, Aishite was just a different feel. VERY VERY excellent live performance.
I think that when people go over songs in languages they are unfamiliar with they should look at the lyrics in their language, because for aishite aishite aishite, the way ado sings these lyrics are because of the meaning behind what is being sung, like when she’s having louder tones it’s to pack a heavier punch in the lyrics, and I think knowing the lyrics plays a big part in talking about her singing voice.
I love this cover by Ado bc the way she sings it gives pain to the story the song tells, and it literally gives me goosebumps every time I hear it, AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT
I think it's fun to compare Ado's loveka with songs with a similar atmosphere. In addition, it is a song sung for the second time after the debut. This "loveka?" The song is about the theme of blind love, so a deep-sea fish loveka appears in the video. This time, I was singing a song with the theme of wanting to be loved by someone who can't turn around. It seems like it's on purpose that it sounds painful
"loveka" i would Say It Is more about a morbid love, about obsection. While this is mostly about a kid Who tries to get the love of her/his parents. This Is how I interpreted them ( I agree with everything else you pointed out)
im just so blown away since i never really listened to Ado in this way, i just enjoyed her music and kept listening to it until this video, i had goosebumps go over my body the WHOLE time while listening to this and i sure will listen to her songs and covers with way more attention then i ever did before, glad i watched this video!
Really like your Ado reactions and I think you practicing how to get your voice to sound like hers in these clips is really fun and inciteful! You are really good at breaking down how to achieve similar sounds
I love watching your reactions and analysis'! They really give insight into the tones and many aspects to singing. Other people often just say "Wow, I liked that part" but you really explain it and go in depth. I love the examples you give to really exagerate certain parts
That was a good song really! I'm literally in tears at the last screaming part, that's scream really synchronize with that chest voice. It's so beautiful! I'm feeling like hear the opera and metal concert at the same time. So amazing!
Great insightful analysis as always~ Ado is just one of a kind. Also, Kikuo always produces rather interesting stuff so I'd highly recommend giving songs like "O Light" a shot. The singer Hanatan gave that one a very special vibe back then.
I believe that the changes in Ado's tone of voice are a thousand times better when you read the lyrics of his songs and realize that each way of singing is in accordance with what he is saying..
That "ne?" at 9:45 isn't just an exhale, "ne" means "right?" or "isn't it?", she's talking about the this "perfect" ideology (I don't recall the translation exactly), like, "isn't this perfect? right?" and then completly changes tones to contrast and deny it. It's so "hidden" yet is so delicious to hear... I Ado I cry listening to your masterpieces :')
4:40 Yes there are at least 2 types of people, some will say they can never be that good and give up, others may be inspired by such a high level. Personally, I'm the second type, I'm comfortable when there is someone so high that I don't have to look for someone else, that's the living motivation, one of the highest levels a person could achieve. I am personally motivated and inspired by such a person. Thank you for analyzing
I've struggled with performing harsh vocals and your single comment "finding that vulnerablity between head voice and chest voice and exploiting that" made it all click for me. I finally managed to do harsh growls without damaging my voice. Thanks Chris
I love watching your Ado reactions, you look so genuinely excited about her, it makes me so happy 😭😭 I would recommend Darling Dance, Fleeting Lullaby and Love Ka!!
Have you watched katrinkas's reactions to ado? They are pretty informative and also katrinka gets more passionate about ado with every video she makes on her
Thanks for providing such great insight on how she sings, my mom is a vocal instructor as well and she could not figure out how Ado is able to do this casually at her concerts! When I was younger, I taught myself how to switch between head voice, chest voice, and mix, but the most I could get out of my 12-year-old voice was a mix. Now (much later) I realize that where my scream is best (so it doesn't hurt) is at a *very loud* mix. I had to do several sing/metal esque/screams in a music/show/play/thingy (very difficult to explain, it wasn't really a musical), and one of my songs had several Ado-like screams in it. It was really fun but after a few hours of rehearsal it was hard to talk.
From more than 12 reviews of Ado's songs, I can say that Chris is the only one who explains everything clearly and in detail, and even repeats it. Anyone learning to sing, go to Chris.
I'm a big Kikuo fan so this sent me to a different dimension! It made me ascend. The texture the fluidity, flexibility and so on, of Ado's vocals really added to the songs theme, the gut wrenching hopelessness of feeling neglected while the pain being the only thing that was there for you so you're starting to be comfortable in your own misery all those aspects while still being in absolute THIRST for comfort and attention of others as you want to be dignified and seen. I'm in love. I think Ado might turn into one of my favorite artists.
I love it when musicians and vocalists find wild creative music like this. When it goes from “huh?” To “how” to “this is nuts!” And lands on “I need more” Especially when you know what she’s doing and just get to sit back in awe and enjoy it.
I just subbed! Love it when people who react know what they're talking about :) i bet you'd be impressed with Annapantsu's covers, she nails the build up and high notes
I love Ado's version of Aishite!! I love how she canges her voice to match the lyrics, like, for example, when shes singing, she changes her voice to sound more "cutesy" to attract attention, then changes back to more of a whine. Ado never fails to meet my high expectations that i have of her.
If you want to see full range for ado, check out her cover of god-ish, (assuming you havent already seen it) because she changes singing style soooo many times in it
I'm no vocalist or singing expert at all, I'm just a big fan of Ado and good singing, and I love seeing analyses of Ado's singing. With little singing knowledge, I enjoyed Ado a lot, but I get a new appreciation for her every time I see your explanations of the technicalities of what she does
Hi Chris, I enjoyed listening to your reaction of this song. I always loved Ado's vocal range and this cover just made me sink deeper in the rabbit hole. I just wanted to appreciate how you pointed out all the parts I loved on her song. I tried getting my friends to appreciate this song as much as I did, but was not successful. I'm a simple person. I see Ado in thumbnail, I click.
Heard her sing this live yesterday, the whole performance was glorious - her presence is like theatre
your voice is amazing aswell damn
Ado truly is amazing, I went yesterday to see her concert in London and I was blown away, so beautiful❤
I love the examples you give to really exagerate certain parts
she literally gives me chills bro. she’s so underrated 😞
That was a good song really! I'm literally in tears at the last screaming part, that's scream really synchronize with that chest voice. It's so beautiful! I'm feeling like hear the opera and metal concert at the same time. So amazing!
One thing i really like about your content is that you provide actually useful commentary about what she is doing
Adoさん自身がリスペクトする女性歌手がいて
その中の1人の椎名林檎さんをリスペクトしていると言ってました
Adoさんの歌い方はリスペクトしている椎名林檎の歌い方を真似ているんだと思います
Listening to this live was fucking amazing
Indeed i heard it live too 🤩
Knowing what the song is about makes Ado's vocals that much more impressive! This song is filled with so much emotion and she nailed it!!! ❤❤
I really love your reactions and analysis bro!!
Great insightful analysis as always~ Ado is just one of a kind. Also, Kikuo always produces rather interesting stuff so I'd highly recommend giving songs like "O Light" a shot. The singer Hanatan gave that one a very special vibe back then.
Her performance of Aiishite and love and punishment reminds me of Sheena Ringo's crazy high pitch distortion.
Sheena Ringo was the original singer of crime and punishment
I believe that the changes in Ado's tone of voice are a thousand times better when you read the lyrics of his songs and realize that each way of singing is in accordance with what he is saying..
Absolutely dont get how singers have that raspy undertone.
Especially the screams in this song and also the "Please stay" in Beautiful Things
Amazing voice analysis! I suggest looking into Miyashita Yuu as well, specifically Wozwald.
I've struggled with performing harsh vocals and your single comment "finding that vulnerablity between head voice and chest voice and exploiting that" made it all click for me. I finally managed to do harsh growls without damaging my voice. Thanks Chris
WOOO ANOTHER VIDEO OF ANALYZING ADO'S SONGS!! I LOVE YOUR ANALYSES!!
I want this man to cover a song sung by ado.
I've been practicing SHOW... we'll see if I'm able to do a cover on UA-cam of it one day!
@@chrisliepe Oh my god, I’m so sure I’m not the only one waiting for that with great anticipation.
@@chrisliepe Wow, Ado said this was the hardest song for her
Are you gonna sing in Japanese?!?! 😮@@chrisliepe
We'll see :) ... Working really hard on it... But I've got to be able to pull it off AWESOME if I'm going to put it out :) @@Verårtu
I love watching your Ado reactions, you look so genuinely excited about her, it makes me so happy 😭😭
I would recommend Darling Dance, Fleeting Lullaby and Love Ka!!
Have you watched katrinkas's reactions to ado? They are pretty informative and also katrinka gets more passionate about ado with every video she makes on her
Ado is an absolute inspiration for how I want to sing!
To be free with my voice enough to to the sort of things that she does when she sings!
Omg I was waiting for this!!!
YES! He's done it! Been waiting for this video for a long time!!!
From more than 12 reviews of Ado's songs, I can say that Chris is the only one who explains everything clearly and in detail, and even repeats it. Anyone learning to sing, go to Chris.
「自由」
感想でこの言葉を語ってくれて本当に嬉しいです。
自由こそが人間の歓びですものね💙
I'm a big Kikuo fan so this sent me to a different dimension! It made me ascend. The texture the fluidity, flexibility and so on, of Ado's vocals really added to the songs theme, the gut wrenching hopelessness of feeling neglected while the pain being the only thing that was there for you so you're starting to be comfortable in your own misery all those aspects while still being in absolute THIRST for comfort and attention of others as you want to be dignified and seen.
I'm in love. I think Ado might turn into one of my favorite artists.
Happy to see that you reacted to ado again. Part of why i am suge a huge fan of her was because of your reactions to her songs.
Ur video help me appreciate the song better. And after listening to her live concert singing aishite few days ago it was mind blowing.
I love it when musicians and vocalists find wild creative music like this. When it goes from “huh?” To “how” to “this is nuts!” And lands on “I need more”
Especially when you know what she’s doing and just get to sit back in awe and enjoy it.
I was most looking forward to your reaction to this song. Thank you!!
If you want to see full range for ado, check out her cover of god-ish, (assuming you havent already seen it) because she changes singing style soooo many times in it
I’ve done a video on it! It’s in the playlist linked at the end of this video. I hope you can watch it :)
I'm no vocalist or singing expert at all, I'm just a big fan of Ado and good singing, and I love seeing analyses of Ado's singing. With little singing knowledge, I enjoyed Ado a lot, but I get a new appreciation for her every time I see your explanations of the technicalities of what she does
Hi Chris,
I enjoyed listening to your reaction of this song. I always loved Ado's vocal range and this cover just made me sink deeper in the rabbit hole. I just wanted to appreciate how you pointed out all the parts I loved on her song. I tried getting my friends to appreciate this song as much as I did, but was not successful. Your passion on music and knowledge tones drasticaly increased my interest on voices itself. I look forward on watching more of your content.
Thank you.
Thanks to Ado, I could learn that there're so many kinds of technical voice!
I'm a big fan of her in Japan!
Please listen another songs of Ado.
Arrgghh. This reaction is my dream!!! Thank you Chris
13:06 Her inconsistencies and vulnerabilities are her charm in my opinion, it sounds so raw and real.
it feels like she has so emotion with her voice as a whole, amazing control. I wish to be an artist like her she has incredible skill. Her voice makes me tear up i feel the emotions in my heart.
There is a singer that Chris can probably be as excited as Ado. Please take a look at the first take version of the song Mephisto the Queen Bee. I get goosebumps.😊
Apoyo eso
Bro their voice is literally SO cool. Immediately started ascending while listening to it.
he was melting listening to the first part LMAOO 😭😭😭
I absolutely adore how in depth you go into your disections of the singers you react to! I knew Ado is an absolutely crazy good singer, but hearing all the different components that go into her performances makes me appreciate her art even more! Love the break downs!
This is so inspiring. I can't wait to record vocals today and experiment around with some crazy "characters" and techniques.
Super fun to watch Chris's reaction. lol
I was not feeling too well today. I am in bed all gloomy but this reaction has me smiling all the way through. My sister loves Ado and has been drip-feeding me her songs, I am a fan now as well. Amazing work!
she's amazing, i love her and her songs so much.....gosh
I was eagerly waiting for this video as soon as I seen he liked someone's comment talking about this song
