It'd be awesome if they see this video and implement your feedback. It does have a lot of potential and a lot done right, having the slime translation as a feature of them would make it worthwhile for a lot of consumers.
I ordered Haritora Wireless recently but i was super hesitant because i didn't know if Mocapi was going to be better or worse as an IMU tracker for VRChat. I'm relieved with my decision but i'm kinda sad that Sony didn't live up to VR expectations right off the bat. I have high hopes for improvement with MoSlime in the future though! This is a big step with big brands coming into the market after all.
I use Vive 2.0 trackers myself, but a couple months back a friend who doesn't have base stations was looking to get full-body for VR and they asked me what I would recommend. They are quite tight on money, and they spend a lot of time in VR socialising and hugging friends, so I quickly became focused on IMU based tracking for the lower costs and convenience of not needing Line-of-sight. After doing some research into SlimeVR, Mocopi, and Haritora X, I came across videos that suggested that Mocopi was very poor quality by comparison to the other two, due to poor tracking accuracy, delay, and drift, dependency on a phone, and supposedly needing to recalibrate out of VR. I ended up recommending they get Slime as it was the most cost effective option, and seemed to have the best quality tracking out of all IMU options, and the easiest setup. This video confirms what I had thought, and increases my confidence that I made the right choice in recommending Slime to them. One day when I upgrade from Vive 2.0, I'll either get Tundras, or Slime, or both if money's permitting, or the Vive inside-out trackers. Though there may be new solutions on the market by then.
I appreciate that Sony made these but I’m a backer of Slime trackers and I’ll back them before I back a big corporation that charges too much for trackers! Thank you for also being so honest! Mad respect!

This is definitely a step in the right direction and from what I have seen, this is one of, if not the only option for full body tracking for standalone vr users.
I play on quest 2 stand-alone and I’ve been waiting for these. Only option I have that wouldn’t need a pc. Probably gonna pick it up because the combined cost of a pc and any other trackers would be so much more. Just hope it gets some love in updates from Sony

I’m pretty excited to where the vr and fbt community is going. It’s awesome to see how small and affordable some trackers are, and I can say that these definitely will be the future of vtubing. I’ve just bought myself some slime trackers in June and I can’t wait to see how everything will progress when I get them in December. I definitely think some cool things will happen before then. Thanks for another informative and exciting video.
So close, but so far! It really would be nice if this had better support for VR. I really appreciate that the app supports the VRM format, which I think should be used as a universal format for avatars and the fact that it's not supported by the top VR social platform VRChat is crazy. Progress is being made, but slowly.
I DON'T mean this as any sort of slight just wanna say you're lucky as HELL man. You definitely work for it but seeing all your tech in this one video is just like.. Holy shit. I wish I had the money and free time to just dive into to EVERYTHING VR. I've got a Q2, a decent PC for VR. A full Flight Sim rig and a few Q2 accessories that I've made myself. That's a lot for me.
It's a HUGE step in a good direction, it might have the MK1 product edition curse but I have no doubt it will end up a highly refined and viable option very soon!
Wow this is so cool! The vid covered pretty much everything I was curious about and more, and I really appreciated the long segment about Moslime and weighing of the pros and cons at the end. Great vid!
I personally don’t care too much about full body tracking and aren’t purchasing any but I still was kind waiting for this full body tracking since it actually look cool
I can definitely see the formfactor and charging case of these inspiring some forks or adjustments of the slime trackers since they're open source anyway
I've been wanting to get these since Shiftall doesn't ship their Haritorax to Canada. Kind of a shame it's a little drifty, guess the CV1 setup will be with me for a bit. I am glad that FBT only goes forward as time marches on though, we're not far off from making it an accessible technology for everyone.
imagine sony take notes from the moslime project, hiring its devs to make it officially a part of the mocopi experience, adding the support it deserves. because for IMU based trackers, these are smooth, and i think the extra for that polish pays off.
So excited for full body tracking to be made easy, accurate, and accessible. It doesn't seem too far away anymore. Edit: this is the most mediocre comment. I don't deserve over 100 likes. 😭
@@zadianvwhgamingyeah, I see these being called accesable and affordable, but in what world? 449$ is a load of money for an a silly addon to an already expensive hobby
I'm feeling frustrated about living in 2023 with the current state of technology. Sometimes, I can't help but yearn for a future that is a hundred or two hundred years ahead, where technological advancements are far more advanced. As a 33-year-old, I have a strong intuition that when I reach my 70s, technology will truly begin to thrive and offer incredible possibilities. One concept that particularly captivates me is the idea of transferring my consciousness into an AI robotic body. The thought of experiencing life through such advanced technology is truly thrilling. Imagine the potential it holds for exploring and colonizing the galaxy, encountering extraterrestrial life, and discovering the wonders of other planets. I wholeheartedly support and embrace this concept. However, I also recognize the value of the present moment. While it's natural to yearn for the future, it's important to appreciate the technological advancements we have today. Progress is an ongoing journey, and each step forward lays the foundation for even greater achievements in the future. The developments we see now are shaping the path towards the extraordinary possibilities that await us. So, while I eagerly anticipate the future and the boundless opportunities it holds, I also strive to embrace the present and the unique technological advancements of this era. It's a delicate balance between appreciating the present and eagerly anticipating the marvels that lie ahead.
Finally, an actually honest review of the Mocopi! I'm just trying to find an easy to use tracking system so I can add my legs to Blade & Sorcery on my quest :/
For me, I'm not an avid VRChat player, but I was trying to get my Vive trackers set up with my Quest Pro and the amount of effort I had to put into troubleshooting led me to eventually give up and think it wasn't worth the effort. So even if these aren't "the best" for VRChat, I'm thinking this might be something I can get behind if the setup is a lot easier.
Getting Vive and Tundra trackers to work on a non base station-tracked headset is always going to be a huge pain. There are special versions of OVR Space Calibrator that allow you to auto-calibrate the trackers by sticking an extra tracker on the headset itself. But the only headset that supports this workaround to my knowledge is the Quest 2. Nothing else. So at the end of the day, if you want the best full-body tracking available, it really is best to get a headset that is also base-station tracked like an Index, a Beyond or a Vive Pro. It's just too infuriating to get working reliably otherwise. This is a major reason why I'm ditching my Reverb G2 and I've preordered a Bigscreen Beyond. I'm at my wit's end constantly needing to recalibrate everything, yet Vive and Tundra's tracking blows everything out out of the water in terms of accuracy and speed. Slimes aren't as accurate as Vive or Tundra and the accuracy of the slimes deteriorate significantly over time. So switching over to Slime doesn't really fix the fundamental problem. It just moves the problem somewhere else. Moral of the story is that in the end, you get what you pay for.
Hmm for making game animation this is pretty cool. I'm really bad at frame by frame animation and often have to rely on pre-made stuff for my projects. Might be a good fit
For my VR-chat priority is way down there. As a VFX creator i am more exited in the use for motioncapter and to get easy and fast animations for 3D models in sequenzes.
I have been using my oculus rift s for a long time and it is starting to fall apart. Is it worth buying a valve index or should I wait for the new headsets that are coming out. (I dont have a super big budget)
Yo thrill I have a question: I live in Europe (Germany) and want to get into full body tracking since I enjoyed VR for over 2 years now. But in Europe I really don't feel like there are nearly as many or as good options as in the US. It is eighter not sold here and therefore incredibly overpriced to get my hands on, or takes over halve a year to get delivered. Any tips?
If Mocopi could turn the wrist trackers into elbow ones for the quest usage, to make up for the fact that the controllers already cover that area (as well as some not too shabby hand tracking in the quest line in my exp, even in vrchat once you work out what gestures do what actions), I think I'd be fully sold. From the ease of use, transport, charging, and capability it has if it uses better software like what SlimeVR provides, I see a lot of potential, as long as it gets enough support to meet or pass the current market. The main draw for Mocopi is definitely the way they've designed the system, clicking into straps and back into the case to charge like wireless earbuds, extremely clever. But this ease of use needs to follow with quality in tracking in the places the most customers would use it, and considering the current, unmodded quality of VRChat usage for instance, which I view to be a huge casual market for this sort of use, and the fact that competitors can give me cheaper tracking of a similar nature that functions better, even if it's a little more tedious to charge, I'd say the current outlook may be rough for Mocopi, at least until they can catch up Quest compatibility wise ^^' I have high hopes, but I think I'll stick with figuring out if I can buy SlimeVR with ankle, knee, waist, and elbow trackers (as I'm not too fussed on the exactness of the waist, but badly want the elbow trackers so I can express myself with my arms properly without them bending weirdly, hah)
I think once the software gets better these will start a great trend for this type of technolgy its exciting hopefully there be more companies that do something like this and who know sinan year or 2 everyone will have these in the vr community.
I like the form factor. It appears the issues are software support related so hopefully those can quickly improve. Not making it to work well in VR as an addon for Sony PS VR feels like a missed opportunity for them.
I got to admit that I was pretty excited when I first heard (I believe from you, Thrill) about Mocopi, because it looked like we are getting a fleshed out product from a big brand, that wont make an user go through tedious and somewhat difficult task of getting standard FBT setup to work. I also watched your videos about Slime and that was the impression: I have to buy hardware for 300$ and then spend hours setting it up and every time I want to use it I have to get through a long process of calibration. This kind of messy stuff is what eventually makes me not want to use a product and it just lies on the shelf. Then we learned about price of Mocopi and I was a bit disappointed. But I still think that form-factor of this thing is very attractive and I wish that it worked fine with VR. We just need Mocopi 2 or Mocopi VR edition, that natively supports custom points of tracking, so we dont have to go to linux to mess it up. Sony please, money is on the ground :D
software updates could help improve mocopi's tracking greatly, but we'll have to see if Sony wants to put any focus on VR over just being a general tracking product
To clarify at 6:03, the only part of that video done by ZRock35 is the model on the right hand side; the mocopi vs HaritoraX 1.0 comparison is by 猫ノ又あおい (ua-cam.com/video/AOF0X8Ibh1g/v-deo.html). ZRock35's video was unclear with this if you didn't read the description, so I want to make sure the original creator gets credit!
I want Mocopi to get a clone with 12 trackers, a couple redundant ones that are always charging, set the new one to the one that died... I would loooove to do that.
It's insane how the Mocopi it, and yes it does looked like it still need some find-turning but another half to a year later, it would be crazy how it would be by then.
Seems like you could create a docker container with all of those dependencies then install it anywhere docker runs in one command. There are even some gui's to setup containers. That would make that server and python modules trivial to setup for everyone.
@@realtek2514No they didn't. They have found out it is possible, but it requires an hardware approach on top of drivers. There is nothing working yet.
I assume the normal way to connect Mocopi to VRChat is still using Phone and not connecting directly to PC or Quest? I think what Sony need to do is to generate the required data for VRChat derived from the actual animation result instead of passing the raw tracker data (which probably what it does right now?), so basically generate the resulting motion and then get the extra data required from it (like knee, etc, basically adding virtual tracker). I don't think it is a hard thing to do, just will add a tiny bit of latency since instead of passing raw data, it need to generate extra data first.
I might honestly get them for the sole reason of being able to motion track things. Not for VR, just because I hate animating things for the games I make, and with that tracking quality it could be way easier.
These are amazing, I just wish they were half the price. For 200 dollars, I'd be capable of stomaching the cost. I mainly would want it for Unity usage and general purpose motion capture, so the VRChat problems aren't a big dealbreaker for me, especially since it seems clear it can be fixed

It’s not even expensive to do this, these trackers are a couple hundred bucks. Anyone with a normal job can afford this
@@MatthewKanwisherhe wasn't talking about this video specifically but everything Thrillseeker gets to do and participate in.
It's a HUGE step in a good direction, it might have the MK1 product edition curse but I have no doubt it will end up a highly refined and viable option very soon!
Wow a Lex Fridman clip from the latest episode. Best podcast ever.
Wow this is so cool! The vid covered pretty much everything I was curious about and more, and I really appreciated the long segment about Moslime and weighing of the pros and cons at the end. Great vid!
So SlimeVR is the best trackers? How much is it? Where do you get it? Does it work with Index?
Vive trackers are better
I personally don’t care too much about full body tracking and aren’t purchasing any but I still was kind waiting for this full body tracking since it actually look cool
I can definitely see the formfactor and charging case of these inspiring some forks or adjustments of the slime trackers since they're open source anyway
Giga respect for using the Pico 4 in this video. It makes me so happy ^.^
the uk is probably gonna get access to this in like 1.2 million years
Sounds like initial release woes, it'll probably get better.
It looks so pretty! Definitely the cutest option! 😍
Looking forward to you trying/reviewing SlimeVR with a Review Set ^^
I need to try this Factor meal since you plugged them and I trust what you say~ good job!
imagine sony take notes from the moslime project, hiring its devs to make it officially a part of the mocopi experience, adding the support it deserves.
because for IMU based trackers, these are smooth, and i think the extra for that polish pays off.
11:47 that explains the similarities in tracking possibly. For their at home setups(except Ames who probably has base stations)
The price just kills these, seems absolutely insane. They should be 150 to 200.
Way too high
love your videos, just the way you present information is perfect
i cant wait to see wifi based tracking to develop more as it already come along way
So excited for full body tracking to be made easy, accurate, and accessible. It doesn't seem too far away anymore.
Edit: this is the most mediocre comment. I don't deserve over 100 likes. 😭
they're 449 USD, i wouldn't call that accessible to most people
@@zadianvwhgamingstill cheaper and more accessible than normal fbt
@@ashykins true
@@PorterCrow why is leg tracking 500 dollars lol
@@zadianvwhgamingyeah, I see these being called accesable and affordable, but in what world? 449$ is a load of money for an a silly addon to an already expensive hobby
I waiting for on your take on this. Thanks for being thorough. Hope they keep improving it.
Thank you as always, a year later this is a super useful review.
Finally, an actually honest review of the Mocopi! I'm just trying to find an easy to use tracking system so I can add my legs to Blade & Sorcery on my quest :/
Love this take. I also got an early copy. Totally agree with your thoughts here. If you want the versatility, it’s a good value.
I'd like to see a 10 tracker version of this.
YES!!
Hmm for making game animation this is pretty cool. I'm really bad at frame by frame animation and often have to rely on pre-made stuff for my projects. Might be a good fit
You should recommend people to wait for a better software update it’s clearly not a hardware issue it’s a straight up software related issue.
Can you please come back to these if they get a good performance update?
For my VR-chat priority is way down there. As a VFX creator i am more exited in the use for motioncapter and to get easy and fast animations for 3D models in sequenzes.
I have the same feeling about this. Im rubbish at animation so this might be good
DUDE FINALLY! I've been be waiting so long to get my hands on these!
I like how they charge in that case.
Not in my budget personally, and the tracking itself clearly has some issues, but it's cool seeing where the hardware is going.
someone is defently going to geolocate that apartment.
Very comprehensive review like always!!! 👍
the advantages are it"s so easy, you throw it in your pocket, you do your tiktok challenge and voila! thats super super accessible and we love it
I have been using my oculus rift s for a long time and it is starting to fall apart. Is it worth buying a valve index or should I wait for the new headsets that are coming out. (I dont have a super big budget)
Love the lex Friedman clip of him asking if mid is good or bad 😂
Im gonna be honest the design of them looks so much more playful and appealing than other tracking solutions that currently exist
Yo thrill I have a question:
I live in Europe (Germany) and want to get into full body tracking since I enjoyed VR for over 2 years now. But in Europe I really don't feel like there are nearly as many or as good options as in the US. It is eighter not sold here and therefore incredibly overpriced to get my hands on, or takes over halve a year to get delivered.
Any tips?
Same on my end, its not just Europe.
The Sony icon had already sold it to me😊
That Lex Fridman podcast's snippet is exactly what I thought when you said "mid" xD
But this ease of use needs to follow with quality in tracking in the places the most customers would use it, and considering the current, unmodded quality of VRChat usage for instance, which I view to be a huge casual market for this sort of use, and the fact that competitors can give me cheaper tracking of a similar nature that functions better, even if it's a little more tedious to charge, I'd say the current outlook may be rough for Mocopi, at least until they can catch up Quest compatibility wise ^^'
I have high hopes, but I think I'll stick with figuring out if I can buy SlimeVR with ankle, knee, waist, and elbow trackers (as I'm not too fussed on the exactness of the waist, but badly want the elbow trackers so I can express myself with my arms properly without them bending weirdly, hah)
I'm a little surprised you didn't mention Mocap Fusion VR. Great video regardless.
Now that Mocapi has just updated for PCVR, you should do an update video.
I think once the software gets better these will start a great trend for this type of technolgy its exciting hopefully there be more companies that do something like this and who know sinan year or 2 everyone will have these in the vr community.
I’m actually probably gonna use factor
Hey Thrill, remember your water cooled experiment? Now that Quest are getting overclocked I was thinking, you might see an improvement now.
I like the form factor. It appears the issues are software support related so hopefully those can quickly improve. Not making it to work well in VR as an addon for Sony PS VR feels like a missed opportunity for them.
Heh, the way Thrill dances around the recommendation in the end just to avoid outsight saying that it's ass...
Wonder if moslime could be setup inside windows subsystem in linux. No need to have a linux machine or setup a VM.
I'd really like to see an update video in the future, because i think that these will greatly improve in tracking quality with software updates
software updates could help improve mocopi's tracking greatly, but we'll have to see if Sony wants to put any focus on VR over just being a general tracking product
To clarify at 6:03, the only part of that video done by ZRock35 is the model on the right hand side; the mocopi vs HaritoraX 1.0 comparison is by 猫ノ又あおい (ua-cam.com/video/AOF0X8Ibh1g/v-deo.html).
ZRock35's video was unclear with this if you didn't read the description, so I want to make sure the original creator gets credit!
yo the food from factor is actually so good I’ve had them before
I want Mocopi to get a clone
with 12 trackers, a couple redundant ones that are always charging, set the new one to the one that died...
Does anyone think PC-PSVR2 should be next!?!?!? 😎 I honestly don't think THEY will ever do it. But WE the community might just make it happen!!!
They already got it to work though.
@@realtek2514 hold up. With tracking and controls and everything?
@@realtek2514No they didn't. They have found out it is possible, but it requires an hardware approach on top of drivers. There is nothing working yet.
@@JoinUsInVRI refer to my comment above.
I'm thrilled about this.
They look great, just... don't put them next to a box of macarons 💀
I’m quite expect full of its future !
Still yet to buy a VR kit, but you keep my dream alive
Oh man, the Pico 4 hmd looks so good.
I just want you to know that I watch all of your videos :) I'm still waiting for VR
