      I think Graham did an amazing job of trying to keep Jessica & Martha safe from Mickey while trying to keep the show going. It does make you wonder if there's anyway to have stopped Mickey from going on drunk -- this is not a party this is work and everyone on Mickey's movie should have been upset with him for showing up to work drunk and trying to fondle women on TV

I knew he was a creep on screen, but hell he really can't keep his hands to himself or get the hint when she moves away. I wonder are there any Hollywood skeletons in his trailer. We learn to appreciate over time (1) testosterone and (2) being attractive to others. When we get older and no longer get as much attention, we tend to miss it. There was no threat here- they were not alone and the cameras were on. This was all an act. Martha pushed Mickey away & told him to leave her alone which he did. Jessica held her own & clearly did not need any help. Frail/sensitive people do not agree to appear on this show (which also apparently serves alcohol to its guests & encourages them to imbibe and to misbehave).

    • @8petaledpath929
      @8petaledpath929 2 роки тому +11

      @@lawsoncabell This wasn't acting, it was sexual harassment. Everyone on that panel opposite Rourke was uncomfortable and upset, including Norton. The truth is that the "threat" was very much present. His actions and obvious lack of judgment indicate that he could could have sexually assaulted either woman (kissing, groping, etc.) at any time. Just because he didn't doesn't mean that the threat wasn't there. Just because you don't take the situation seriously and want to minimize it, rather than admit something inexcusable happened, doesn't mean that the threat wasn't there. Jessica may have maintained her composure, but the whole reason Rourke didn't escalate beyond what he did is very likely the direct result of Graham continuously calling out his creepy behavior and signaling his support for Biel. In other words, when a woman is being sexually harassed she does need support and help.

    This was literally the most awkward and uncomfortable Graham Norton episode I have seen so far. Sadly enough it wasn't even just Mickey Rourke's very inappropriate behavior. I feel like most of the content here--i.e., the wrestling dress-up game, the "fat guy" story, the dogs and cats pictures, the prank call--almost everything felt really awkward and unfunny to me. Anyone else notice that at 34:17 Jessica Biel looked really peeved off. I know that looks so well, it's where you're sitting there feeling angry, awkward and shocked all at the same and not being able to do anything about it because of where you are. Happened to me years ago at an ex's parents house. His parents and his brother started this really bad racist rant about their new neighbours. This was my first time meeting them, and it happened during dinner. I just went silent and gave a fake smile now and again. Jessica's also put a huge distance between herself and Mikey her body language is also being protective. She's leaning forward in her chair in almost a part fetal position and she has her arms across her body. Feel for her... must have been really awkward sitting there after Mikey's comments.

    I like that from the get go I felt Graham was letting Jessica know and he wasn't laughing with Mickey, Graham's face when he says 'yep' when Mickey talks about the pub where heavy hitters would go 'pick up pussy'. When Mickey said 'I've nothing in my house who looks like this' - Graham comes across as your pal who's with you when the creepy guy hits on you and you're both cringing and laughing about how friggin awkward it is...the 'here's to big dogs, got my point?', 'I got it' - Graham's face! I think this shows why celebrities enjoy his show so much, he keeps it moving, he checks Jessica's comfort level, he shows he doesn't condone and join in Mickey's behaviour or being creepy sexualising Jessica.

      The show was first shown in 2007 on BBC2. It was shown in a late night slot and was alot more risque than it is now ( and funnier may I add). The set then was a lot more cluttered with camp and kitsch paraphernalia, making it not only self aware but also self ironic. On the original set there were Barbie dolls ( Graham, being openly gay, maybe alluding to the fact he would play with dolls?). There is also one shown in the opening credits.
      Watch his early stuff, very funny

    Man, so sad to see Rourke here. He's trying really hard to be charming and back in the game, but when he recounts his past 15 years, it just comes off sad. It's not a nice story. At all. How Jessica Biel looks at him - he just looks broken.
    You can just see that he is a troubled human being and it is unfortunately awkward to have him around when Norton of course is all cheery and his guests are exclusively people who have great and successful careers. you know - happy people.
    I wouldn't blast Rourke like some commenters do here - there are a lot of people like this in the world. Troubled, who failed at one thing, or another. I'd actually say most people are like that.

    I don’t think anything shown here was all that bad, except at the end with Martha, but there was clearly editing that happened and things before the show perhaps. Graham pulled Biel aside before she sat, then he made comments from the get go about chaperoning, when he went into the audience he checked on her, etc. Clearly he knew Rourke was drunk and had already crossed the line, would’ve been nice to get the full backstory though. The only thing Graham ever said about this was that Rourke got out of his car with a Jack Daniels bottle and that he kept smoking during the interview which was exhausting

      tideoftime it did get quite bad yup. The thing is, because it's public, she'd have felt a little more stuck than if this had happened without the pressures of an audience and a chat show.
