After seeing the incredible work done by Larry and his team, my new goal is to own a Tracked Outdoors Hagglund! Maybe if they take long enough to build this one, and I up my budget quick enough, I can even buy mine back one day!
Excellent content in this video. Casey, your somewhat impulsive but well intentioned purchase of a used Hagglund and willingness to sell what ever is in your yard for the right price eventually led to meeting Larry and his team and introduced to all your viewers an amazing tracked vehicle custom rebuild and factory type shop in Wyoming, USA.
One of your best videos ever. Oregon weather, spotting wildfire, and a tour of man land. Larry is one cool man. Low key, yet very smart. Maybe hee will let you field test a rebuilt unit one day..
I was sad at first seeing the Hagglunds sold, but wow! After the facility tour and seeing the final Tracked Outdoors Hagglunds I would want one of their lovingly restored models customized to my needs. I hope you achieve your dream of owning one Casey.
The shop tour was really awesome. That wheeled NASCAR TOOLBOX shows Larry's dedication to maintaining a great/well tooled shop. Makes every guy envious.
Hägglunds is still in operation and is a subsidiary of BAE Systems AB, which is owned by BAE Systems Land and Armaments, whose ultimate owner is BAE Systems.
The threaded holes in roof corners are not for transport. It might work but they are only intended for lifting the cab in factory and workshop. I work on these daily as a mechanic in the Swedish Armed Forces 😉 Ps. We are getting a mid-life upgrade VERY similar to this 👍
Nope, they are approved for lifting the hole BV by the lifting lugs on the roof. Source: i have done it! There is a decal on the inside one how to do it on "our" BVs like was said in the video
Casey's love of nature shows in the beginning of this video. Tracked Outdoors is the kind of place I would enjoy roaming around. As a young boy, we lived on the old farmstead started by my great grandfather. (On U S Route 1, 20 miles south of Washington, DC, 3 miles from Marine Base Quantico). On the east end just off the highway there was a very small "junkyard" with a sew military trucks and an old army tank with the gun turrent attached and top hatch removed. We boys enjoyed playing there. Big boys toys are exciting to little boys. Now the farm is no longer---property over run with houses and two churches. I am a fan of restoring and salvaging treasures from the past. Good to see the Hagglund find a good resting place on its journey. Larry is a likeable guy who has an passion for restoration. Thanks for sharing this very interesting tour. Edit: An excellent tour and very educational.
It's good to know that there are still people out there that care about being the best in the business and really care about their customers. Well done Larry!
I can assure you, he put A LOT of time and effort doing things he might not have liked so much, to turn his hobby into a profession. There are no lottery tickets. Just get your bee hind off the couch ;)
Wow, what a place, and I thoroughly enjoyed the Tour of Tracked Outdoors. Again, Casey, you provide the best entertaining videos on UA-cam, most channels get to be dull and no new "Adventures to be found"... Your channel is so varied, I never know what I am going to see. Kudos for allowing us to go through this with you....
Hey Casey. That camo unit is one of the two units I have at work. Larry rebuilt both units for us up here in Alaska. We love these things as they go anywhere we need.
I like Larry's personal vehicle too, the color of it reminded me of the 1970 Pontiac GTO I had. I don't even have a use for one of those vehicles, but now I saw them, I want one. Oh well, the joys of being retired. Thanks for taking us along on that tour.
yep…love and respect thats guy’s shop. Clean and organized! Don’t show this to Rory…LOL. Show this to Matt so he understands the real gold standard of tracked vehicles.
When you picked up the Hagglund, it reminded me of one I saw in either Wyoming, Colorado, or Montana where they swapped a Silverado cab and bed on it with very aggressive ice tracks. I do expect the replacement to be flipped before the snow falls.
Hagglund gone. Now it makes one wonder what is next in the Casey fleet. That was a great tour of Larrys business and a very informative tour of the whole place.
Awe man, what a shop they have. And definitely the best place for the old girl to be brought back to life, who knows maybe youll buy it back when all os said and done, and it'll be your final details that make it a cascade truck 🤘 rock on Casey, bet there was a penny in it for you too be able to help someone in the future
Boy, when I commented a R2.8 on your first video of the Hagglund, I was suggesting for you! But WOW, Larry really set up a truly unique buisness! I'm going to suggest at our next meeting to get one for our Search and Rescue, especially if we can throw a skid on the rear for wild land fires.
I am not particularly interested in engines or technology. Not even when it is mounted on caterpillar tracks. Yet I'm sitting here watching this video and finding it hard to tear myself away from the screen. Why? Probably because I am Swedish, and I become a little proud of the engineering expertise that a country as small as ours has managed to achieve.
Wow, what a great niche company! Looks like they really know their target customers well and do a great job on everything TRACKED!👍🏼👍🏼 thanks for the insight😁
Good Lord Larry has invested a pile of money in his business.. Would've loved to work for a man like that, not afraid to spend the money needed to make his business grow and make even more money in the end.. Thanks for taking us along Casey...
Yeah, I was bummed but the tour & knowing you just can't sit still, nothing surprises me any more! Larry is a nice bloke, knows his stuff (unlike some business owners) Having run my own custom fab shop, I know it ain't easy especially to get good staff but he seems to be well grounded! Bring on the next video & what you have bought, I'm sure it will fit the bill but maybe one day you will own a Tracked outdoors rig one day, who knows! 👍
A very entertaining and interesting video. The almost 50 minutes have passed very quickly. Even though I have seen the whole thing, I will probably save it to watch and enjoy it more calmly over the weekend.
I was on the Fielding Team when the Hagglunds M973 Small Unit Support Vehicle (SUSV), was handed off to the US Army at Ft Wainwright, AK in 1984. The vehicles were initially equipped with a 5 cylinder Mercedes-Benz engine with a 4 speed automatic transmission also made by Mercedes-Benz. They also had a high and low range transfer case. The vehicles would go through the deep snow without any problems because of its light footprint. The 5 cylinder engines suffered from overheating and leaking headgaskets. Cylinders 4 & 5 were siamesed and thats where the head gaskets failed. Going through wooded areas often caused damage to glass and fiberglass. These vehicles had the capability to swim, but you had to follow the manual to the letter or it would sink. An infantry battalion at Ft Wainwright sunk one in McFadden Pond in 1986 because instructions weren't followed. Tracks and roadwheels wore like iron in snow, but on paved roads or gravel, like was short. As these vehicles were purchased from Sweden, not then a NATO member, the US military was banned from mounting armaments and weapons on the vehicles. Around 1990, the M973A1 SUSV replaced the old M973's. The new vehicles had a lot of improvements, including a Mercedes-Benz 6 cylinder engine. Towards the end of the 90's these vehicles were phased out and sent to DRMO to be auctioned off to the general public. The Hagglunds designation for this vehicle was BV-206D. The D meaning diesel. The gasoline models were just BV-206.
What a gentleman Larry is 🤗🤗. I fitted a rear track to one of these in West Africa on a missionary trip back in 2007, don't know whatever became of it but they are an awesome tool. Loved this video, thank you.😁
We really enjoyed your visit to "Tracked outdoors!", do some more visits like that one! Some really nice machines, we would have liked to see them working in the snow/sand! LOL
What a facility.... Great tour.... FYI the Audio seemed to be lagged there at the end, but it didnt affect the video... Waiting to see whats next, That is certainly the ideal place for it no doubt
Now im wondering if you did the "its all for sale" video to prepare us for this. Yes, I'm bummed a little, but seeing the work Tracked Outdoors does, i know this is a good move.
The wife and I quite enjoyed this episode. Great tour, info, and the facility is stunning-even the muck room looked clean. Also liked how the owner came across…totally zen, even keeled. Reminds me of most of the engineers I’ve known, encountered, met along the way.
Great video. You have this UA-cam thing down so well. Early in the video you told us you were getting the replacement on the way home, so I figured it was in this video. Nope, you left us with a great cliff hanger so we watch the next video.😂 Well done! Looking forward to see what has 8 tracks!
31:23 That is a really nice one! I'm really bummed out that you are selling yours, I'll forgive you when you've bought one from these guys. Not much incentive as I'm a nobody but still, many little streams and so on 😉 PS. It's nice that it is getting a new life!
Dang, good advertisement for Tracked Outdoors! Sad to see it go but as you said in another video, make money by buying equipment and selling it for a profit. Anxious to see the replacement.
What a guy { larry } he’s the kind of guy you wish he lived a thousand year and stay , he’s so calm so clean so easy love that kind of respect thanks again Casey for sharing him on your channel 👏🏻🫡
Many years ago, I work today ski resort, Snowshoe, West Virginia and we had a couple of tuckers. I always love those things and I always want one just in case you’re gonna get me something for Christmas. 😬
That place is amazing Casey and the best place for your Hagglund for now. That would be awesome if you could buy it back after they get it done but any Hagglund that they customize just for you and what you need it to do would be great. Looking forward to seeing a reflective Cascade Heavy Rescue logo on a Hagglund camouflaged in your colors. Their blue one was my favorite too.
What crazy storm and wildfire sightings, with a rainbow yet no less! ⚡️🔥🌈 Enjoyed the tour of Tracked Outdoors. You never fail to keep us guessing at what's next! 😅

So, new Hagland with a light wrecker body on the rear?
Maybe Zachlift could team up and lend some expertise.
So it wasn’t stolen in Compton then well that’s good at least
What's the ballpark for a rebuilt one from them? No prices on their website
I don't blame you, it seems that it would be handy

I like Larry. You can tell what kind of guy he is because he keeps saying "We", and not "I" when referring to the work that they do.
This guy is a team leader. He knows there is no "I" in team.
It's a team. 😊😊😊
@@chuckgilly
Chuck take a look closer at the TEAM, the i is subliminal in the A 😂
But every time he mispronounced 'Cummins' it made me cringe.
@@AndrewAMartin needs to get a life!!🤣🤣🤣
The Hagglund is going to it's forever home. Casey's adoption service did its job and it will live a long happy life, free and wild.
One of your best videos ever. Oregon weather, spotting wildfire, and a tour of man land. Larry is one cool man. Low key, yet very smart. Maybe hee will let you field test a rebuilt unit one day..
Really enjoyed this video. Larry is one very smart person and his shop cleanliness is phenomenal.
The ten second rule doesn’t apply in Larry’s shop. It’s cleaner than most people’s kitchen tables!
@@CaseyLaDelle Yeah, I haven´t seen floors that clean in people´s homes even. Well done, and a great way to raise morale.

Absolutely! I´d love to work for them! It makes all the difference when you´re allowed the time and means to keep things nice around your workplace.
Thank you, Larry, for taking the time to show us around.
I'll add a thank you to Larry for loving our Swedish heritage and making those machines eternal, it's absolutely beautiful. 🥰
Those opening shots of the weather were COOL!
Larry and Tracked Outdoors needs a UA-cam channel! Thanks for sharing this incredible shop and story.
They’ve got one (Casey linked it in the description) but most recent video was over 2 years ago.
Sad the haglunds is gone… but what a nice shop!!

Casey, another great adventure. It gives us something to dream about.
Thanks for taking us on that ride Casey.
And thank you Larry for letting us all inside to see.
I am glad it has gone to a place that will make it into something anybody who can afford one will give it a great home.
That dump box would be good for public lands cleanups where you can get a truck and trailer into
Great idea!
@CaseyLaDelle A even more useful version would be a flatbed with removable sides and tipper function.
Dang, I sure wanted to see a recovery in the snow with the rig.
Like you said " everything is for sale, at the right price", and when he says "WE" that shows a true leader in the company. Great channel thank you.
I used to drive by this place frequently when I lived there. I was always curious about these rigs, but I never investigated. Thanks for the tour!

That sounds awful! One of the great things about these offroad is your field of view driving it - why ruin that with an eight feet bonnet?
You said in last video "everything's for sale?"👍
Sad to see the Hagglund go away. Thank You for that AMAZING tour . Another fine example of a Problem solver in action .
really liked seeing the business that Larry has built up . and really impressed how clean everything is so clean
Hagglund gone. Now it makes one wonder what is next in the Casey fleet. That was a great tour of Larrys business and a very informative tour of the whole place.
I think it would be awesome and hilarious to put a VWBus body on a Haglunds chassis!
That would be the most ridiculous thing ever and a perfect fit all at the same time 😂
