"Sleeping Giant" Lyrics:
Earth has burst
Mountain flames
Moon beheld
Father snake
Mind control
Has left its nest
Shame on
Bulls roar loud
The fearless fall
Wooden vessel
Broken wings
Caught my killer
In my grave
Shame on
Eyes of grace
Kill again
Trapped in maze
Trembling fear
Head scorched brow
Perish the land
Shame on
A vast calm wilderness
The call to adventure comes
Lead and land atop this rock
Infinite path carved with unrivaled skill
I think this is probably thier most under-rated song
I discovered this song on the arcade "Guitar Hero" at my local Chuck E. Cheese. Now when I take my kids there, I treat everyone to a Mastodon Break. Lol
10 years later just found this band few months back. This song is epic. DMT trip 100.
Thank you.
No?
the drumming in this song is out of control. Brann Dailor is definitely my favorite modern progressive metal drummer.
Dont ever stop making albums Mastodon!
this never happens to any band that i listen to, but for some reason i like every song these guys made.
Haven't one that I'd skip over in an album yet, it's always just like FUCK YEAH and I turn it up a little bit louder each track
Any band ?
Factz. Like I'm truly amazed. The only band that I could listen from the very top track...& down to the bottom. I like every song & every album these guys have been putting out.
Just got into metal and I feel the same
Mastodon is definitely one of those bands. Completely agree.
I listened to this song while stoned and had an emotional breakdown
I've experienced similar experiences with certain songs and certain sounds of songs that just trigger me emotionally.
It's unbelievable how much of an impact that just a certain sound in music can affect us in such an emotional way🤷🏼♂️
Don't do drugs, kids.
Damn, that is one of the most beautiful riff i ever heard in my life 0:27
@Steven Criscione This solo-ish thing in 0:27 (also at 1:52) - that's Bill playing, not Brent. Check live versions of Sleeping Giant. Just sayin ;-)
Beware Music yeah bill is the riff man
amazing riff!! and the bass line too!
@@BridgetTheBiscuit Bill's riffs are so slept on really. Brent's solos overshadow him plus his crazy character where Bill is super chill
For years it’s still one of my favorite guitar riffs of all time
The drumming in this song is so fluid and perfect it's practically otherworldly.
This is still my favorite batch of chord progressions that they've put together, probably.
The fact that this isn't even Mastodon's best song blows my mind.
Because this song fucking rocks.
2023 and this song is still one of my favorites from Mastodon
I love how Mastodon makes silly low-budget visuals truly menacing with sound alone.
I love how these guys are so heavy, progressive and so much there own style... they're a fresh breath to Metal!!! been listening to this band for awhile now and going to see them again this summer at X fest
"Caught my killer in my grave" -- this has always meant a lot to me. I waited many years after hearing this song and went through many things until I finally got this tattooed across my chest. My favourite tattoo.
this song is a masterpiece... everything about it, recommended being high while listening
mastodon is without a doubt one of the most talented bands of the last 20 years if not more. and they never stop working. they are definitely going to be around for a long ass time.
There the only band I like post 2000's
yeah they're still around
@@sloppyy I'm aware
album version is much far away more instrumental .
And i love that !
Borderlands 3 brought me here after I read the red text "Infinite path carved with unrivaled skill." on a gun named "Sleeping Giant."
Awwww dude that gun sounds awesome I wish I had found it
Where did you find that weapon? I need it!!!!
There’s a gun with the red text ‘crack the Skye’ too, never noticed that one
The Tunguska also has one of their albums as a red rext. I'm beginning to think someone at gearbox is also a mastadon fan
too bad randy pitchford is a complete garbage human.
"Lead and land atop this rock. Infinite path, carved with unrivaled skill."
Cool forgotten lyrics.
thank you! how come sometimes i hear that last line and sometimes i dont?
That lead guitar part with delay is next level
By far one of the best songs on the album, I listened to it a lot when I played Elder Scrolls Oblivion... and yes, this is before Crack The Skye was even conceived.
Getting stoned and watching MASTODON videos, my 2 favorite past times
Love the oriental guitar in this song. Mastodon is one of a kind, ive never heard a band that sounds like them. Thats why most ppl need to learn to listen to them, especially i didnt like them at first.. but that changed pretty fast and they just keep getting better and better! :)
One thing I love about Mastodon is that their music videos have fuck all to do with what the song is about. This song is a perfect example, as it's about someone scaling Blood Mountain when it erupts and they realize they're probably gonna die on the mountain. But the music video is about a weird empire of space cultists turning people into miniature landscapes, and I love it.
what the hell? no clue this song had a video.
aaron same here. só underrated song
One of Mastodon's best!!!!
mandela effect , wake up , you're in a simulation.
Same and it would've been nice to watch in my pothead days
@@MorseCodeStutters Perfect time to revisit them
Met Brann couple years ago at Rockfest... incredible drummer.
Super nice person.
This riff makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up on end. Love riding my dirt bike to this.🤘🤘🤘🤘
This might just be the most psychedelic video set to metal ever.
until you watch the next one
Matt Shea The next what? Mastodon video?
+Bryce Bruder yes
That title belongs to asleep In the deep
William Trewartha-Jones Tool videos are just as awesome! I'm partial to Schism, as far as psychedelia goes.
Listening to this at work, occasionally glancing at the screen, wondering what the hell is going on.
Awesome group...Cant wait to see with Gojira..
PAULIE SALAZAR I was just thinking to myself what a badass concert that would be lol guess I'm 4 years too late...
Dawg Pound let’s hope they do it soon. I bet they will. Joe brought it up last year actually. Saying they’re like brothers and need to tour again together
what a great song, from a great band, EARGASM
I like the noisy mood and colorful videos Mastodon brings up. There's something retro about the whole ambience.

These guys are really going where no other artist besides TOOL has gone before there stuff is quite amazing.
0:27 sends a chill down my spine every time man......
i loved smoking weed and taking lsd while listening to this band...need to see them live, tickets just sell out super quick
It's an allegory in that the world we live on can be considered a living thing and with the advancement of a species we are bringing about the death of the creature we dwell on, and that it's unavoidable. The lyrics are basically describing future happenings within a past tense as according to the moral that everyone will be destroyed by their own hands.
listened to this while high af.... best thing i've ever did
Kylie Burkhardt meth + really dank weed + any Mastodon = Eargasm
This is legit one of my go to blazing songs. I usually start off with something a little bit up tempo. Maybe Eyes of the South by Down.
Ive done meth once ....going on 10 years now
agreed!
for reals dude!!!...just weed ...and beer....ok and motherfuckin whisky....don't judge me!!!
its amazing how their brains work to create such spectacular music
if i ever go to space.... i will bring an ipod-full of mastodon as my only source of music....
love em !
Massive, Amazing, Surreal, Thundering, Ominous, Dark, Omnipotent, Neolithic.
Cant wait to see them and open for them one day.
The song is so addictive
Pretty much a tamed down tool video. I like it.
Where was this in my all life?
The call to adventure calls.
The universe is one gigantic living entity!!!
AWESOME!
My favourite song of Mastodon. Love the vocal line and the verse riff
love these lads, such a big "Lizzy" sound in their music
I bet Bill made sure that Star Wars probe was in there hahaha
Didn't see a probe... Saw a remote droid though! Remove Han Solo as your avatar... Now.
There is even a Sarlacc's relative. 1:50
Love this song. Nice riff, awesome melody
one of my favorites from mastodon
Only a few of us left. Turning the Turning the "time machine" back ON
This may just be one of the most beautiful songs in the world, and i know millions❤❤❤
ok... this is what i get out this when watching this high. mastodon are actually modern day musical silent film producers. silent film in the fact of that the videography has nothing to do with the lyrics (directly in context anyway) but its actually meant to go along with the music. almost like the music ques in the shifts in story plot. the lyrics are, however, are meant to convey the mood of the story(contrasts the normal approach wherein the music sets the mood and universal emotion). \m/
ACID + Amazing instrumentals + more acid +Mastodon + more acid = Sleeping giant
My favorite track from Mastodon. Instruments are amazing as always but the vocals are insane
Ive listened to this album so many times i keep expecting Capillarian Crest to come blasting on at the end
This video makes perfect sense.
I cant believe i discovered this band one week after they toured my city....oh man o man...
I think i pribably listned to this song every year since it came out
i love mastodon's creativity and style. this track is especially cool....
Beautiful.
This has to be he most epic music video ever. Imagine remaking it for like a film class *sighs* that'd be gnarly.
one of the best albums ever made ...
+1
this video is so beautiful, one of the best i 've ever seen
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥One of the must beautiful music I ever heard! ♥
I think i been listening to this song for 13 years
Every year
Day one my brother bought blood Mt. I haven't listened to it in it's entirely in at least 12 years.but this was my fav song on that album
most epic interlude solos ever!
One of my favorite songs from them :')
The intro is so lovely.
Well I’ll be damed .Mastodon always make me feel more focused on the parts of life that I injoy.
Awesome video! Its like something out of Star Wars.
i love how the video is made
god i love this song the rifts are amazing
Probably like one of the best songs ever made specially the full version
One of my fav songs of all time!!
Love the science fiction elements in this video
Every time i smoke weed and listen to mastodon my life is in Deluxx-o-vision!
This song Is so underraited.
alucinante... una melodia y una fuerza increible!
this music is so. so different
mastodon ftw
i love how their videos r always weird with a scifi/fantasy feel to them :D it makes the geek in me happy
We need mastodon.
dude, this is like one bad acid trip
One of the greatest intros ever.........
mastodons last two albums are so epic. i love this song. it just sucks that majority of ppl today get sucked into bands or artists like lady gagA or godsmack thinking they are so awesome. this song gives me chills.
Ten years later and not much has changed
@@elemento1991 There was a change. It got so much worse with mumble rap etc.
this gives me goosebumps!
This. I love this.
this song is probably the best metal song of the decade
it actually nets me females who are into metal
Never shit my pants watching a music video. Watched this video. Cant say I haven't anymore.
Man I love these trippy music videos
Mastodon has the best music videos!!
Thats a wicked tune, i like that.
This video was made under all the right influences.
I have been to the actual Blood Mountain in North Georgia. It was the site of a battle between the Cherokee and Creek tribes. So much life is in a land set in death. So many spirits, so many tales to be told.
This band is why rock will NEVER DIE! thank you mastodon...for making life better :)
Wow. The video is so meaningful and true. The song, Amazing.
incredible video!
