The song that mad me obsessed with this genre of music, the song that made me addicted to Mastodon and genuinely changed my perspective on a lot of things. Absolutely fucking amazing.
In the music industry today, Mastodon is a sophisticated wine in a sea of ostentatious spirits. Not the most expensive wine in the musical metaphor of life, but the one you truly enjoy the most.
This song and video made me a fan of Mastodon. Brent's voice, Troy's bass lines, and Bill's sideburns to be more specific. Thank god for that random tv channel surfing at 2:00 am 10 years ago.
Holy shit. I didn't know that until reading this comment, and his backup part always tickled a part of my brain I didn't realize was there. Does he do anymore vocals on any other mastadon songs I should know about?
The most epic outro solo in decades no one can touch mastodon. Everything about them just screams legendary and the best part of it is all four of them are just humble, goofy ass guys just out to make music money is a secondary and popularity is the furthest thing from their minds. @@bloodwrage yeah but it’s not like they’re releasing bad stuff now, you could say the same thing about a lot of bands that had their best album then kept putting stuff out
I played this song when I was on my shift at my college radio station last night....I must've gotten 5 calls and they all loved the song. I always knew about Mastodon by word of mouth. I never seen a video, or what that band looked like, but always listened to their music. This band is a whole new level of Progressive metal. I think this band is a future hall of fame band in my eyes. Hope they reach that level of success.
I forgot about BM, having been so obsessed with Leviathan and then later Crack the Skye. Then I went back and listened to it and found it to be a damn near perfect fucking album. Absolutely superb, and a great combo of those 2 albums.
I remember when this song firsts came out, I was watching either headbangers ball or the rock countdown hosted by Bam Margera and Ryan Dunn and Dunn introduces this band. and that started it all RIP Random Hero

An old girlfriend i had, back in the day said to me, "they're acid heads" after i showed her this song. I said how can you tell. She said cause this song gives me the same feeling of when it creeps up your spine. Lol
I used to pull Troy's beard at every show i went to. I know he hated it, but it had to be done. Of course this is back when they would play to a room of 20 folks...Love seeing how far they've come. Awesome dudes, awesome music.
Instrumentally, they are unique, no band can compare anything to that. Vocally is where they lack the bulge in but they are improving dramatically with it for example with Crack the Skye. However, live, they sound exactly like they do on studio records. Check 'em out live!
We visited "Ruby Falls" in Chattanooga today... the fact that Mastodon filmed the video for this song in front of the waterfall also just makes the visit that much more Epic.

All the guys are hot in this video. Brent Troy Brian and of course Brann. I would say Josh too but I didn't see him. Did I miss him? I love how they all share the vocals. There is no "lead singer" in mastodon. That term doesn't exist in this band. Other bands should take note
I remember waking up to this on mtv back when it was half decent and played music videos for atleast a few hours in the morning, back when I was in 5-6 grade. Back when fuel tv was still fuel tv
Still love this...these guys are amazing live, and y'all should check them out at show if you get the opportunity. I've seen them twice, the first with Crack the Skye and the second when they toured for The Hunter...they never disappoint.
This is honestly probably Brann's best song. It sounds like he's laying the fills onto the track with the same level of grace as one of those parachutes from gym class gently falling to the floor
