This was so rich and inspiring! I especially loved the 50/50 compassion/discipline idea. I think I've slowly learnt to be able to practice that, but it's great to have it conceptualised. In my case, in the tidying/cleaning scenario you describe, the 50/50 trick is telling myself 'ok, well, if I do this one thing or wash a single plate or whatever, you don't have to do more'. Usually gets me out of inertia!
thanks for letting us in on that survival state wisdom!! 🌈✨ i've been reflecting on value lists for a while and year by year they get less ideal and more actionable as guidelines: mine are 'change-of-state' where the idea is when things are rough just minimally building on betterment does so much 'momentary good', going for where there's 'zero-resistance' in terms of capacity and in opposition to that taking 'nudges of resistance' seriously even if they seem silly but treating them as meaningful signifiers that have a depth to them and going for 'attunement socially'.. hope better days are ahead ☔️ gonna try the 3 day allowance to get something done!
