pompano live nearest to beaches. they primarily feed on mole crabs. which live in the surf of beaches. pompano don't frequent the flats as much. The purpose of the pompano jig is to pop it up and down and make it blow a little puff of sand. imitating a mole crab feeding near the beach. mole crabs (sand fleas) feel safe just out of reach of the birds on land and fish in the water trying to munch them. pompanos patrol those surf breaks looking in toward shore. mostly ignoring what is behind them

Aron Boyles to While all that is true that's not the only thing Pompano feed on. I have caught them on Bucktails Topwater lures and swim baits too along with spoons and Mirrorlures too so they eat a lot more than sand fleas😎

I use these and I confirm they are pretty good, theres multiple scents (orange ones being crab or clam, red ones being bloodworm, the red ones are trash and fish only bite the orange ones in my experience) you want to leave these at home and never in your car or in a hot place as they shrink and lose the scent. Nice video as always.

This is how we catch them in Volusia County, home of Mosquito Lagoon. Find structure, preferably a bridge or near a channel. Drop a 1/2-1oz, depending on the current (must have current), weight held by a swivel with 6” to a foot of leader with fiddler crabs or live shrimp. Crushes every time...
