I have been watching and learning about all types of art for 4yrs and was frustrated with the secrecy in what people use for PM. I care for my elderly sister who has an intellectual disability as well as immobile. It has been hard to take her out because of her disabilities. I paid to do the Shellee art course months and actually haven’t finished the video. I finally now have found a way for my sister to do something at home. She says I can’t paint and I said you don’t need a paint brush. I had a builder give me some of his old house paint woohoo. I am going to transfer the paint into milk bottles and hopefully have some use for the paint. I am a country girl where we had mainly what you can find and manipulate. Ihave an idea of using a liquid floor polish to thin paint. Ha ha I have been accumulating a lot of different mediums paint pigments stencils canvases and 6ml mdf rounds. I have done a few pieces of art happy with some and not so happy with others. I enjoy watching the simplistic tutorial for my sister to follow. She has short attention span so the little squeaky toys adds a laugh for her. So thank you for sharing.
Omgosh! THANK YOU for saying that about the house paint and the reason for it! I’ve watched at least 70 videos about PP, trying to figure this whole rocket science project out, and you are the ONLY ONE that explained that it’s just because of COST! I’ve been stumped, wondering what is the magic of the house paint! I have acrylics galore (including Amsterdam, liquitex, golden, as well as all their pouring mediums and additives), so I can proceed! THANK YOU SIR! 🤗❤
This is exactly what I was looking for!!! Just getting started not sure if it’s gonna be my thing and was finding it to be so expensive. I was trying to follow other peoples formulas and it was just too much.! thank you again
So happy to have found you. Love your explanation and thoroughness especially for a little novice like me who is by no means an artist. In fact, I can barely draw a straight line even with a rule 😂😂😂😂😂😂😅😅 . I plan to get cracking with your easy-to-use method. Thanks again. Looking forward to your next video lesson.
So glad to have stumbled on your page. These were the best tips ever for a beginner like me!!! The colors you use are amazing!!! I can't wait to practice when I get the right paints!!! Thank you soooooo much!!!
You are amazing I never thought about using those ingredients to bloom and swipe. I love both of those paintings. I just started blooming and swiping but I have been painting for 3 years now.
Wow😮❤, wat a beautiful work of art you bring. I am a totaly dummy with paint works. and i liste nd and looked verry wel. I must say you bring wonderfull understandeble lessons. I am from Serbia and i just received my Ozzie Floetrol from a great ebay seler from Australia, the company is called wholesalepaintgroup. It arrived in about 15 days via Australian post, and it cost me 100$ australian, or about 50 Brritish pounds for a pack of 3X500ml, so 1,5 liters total, with shipping.
Just came upon your channel. Both are beautiful You used house paint as your pillow, but ppl say you can't torch house paint, it leaves a film on the top of the paint. Is the house paint used straight out of the can, no thinning it down.
Thank you Karen, it's a myth you can't torch house paint, people that say you can't are doing it wrong. Keep the flame away from the paint, it's the carbon dioxide the flame produces that pops the bubbles , not the heat ( c02 is heavier than air). Yes the pillow is straight out of the can, nothing is added. 👍🐨
That wa a great video, I did small ceramic tiles. Worked a treat. What would you recommend I seal them with for hot and cold drinks. Thanks for a fun hour. From another Aussie, Belinda
Hi Darren, thank you for showing us this video. I haven't been able to get the bloom to work. The house paint swallowed my colors. Why type of house paint should I use? Should it be thinned down?
I always feel like a beginner every time I do one of these. So thank you for a new idea. To me they always seem just like a background I'm in landscape artists so I'm thinking once The fad goes away. Maybe that these could be used for a background for an ethereal picture painting. I don't know if I'll ever get used to them as just that as as a painting thank you❤
Looks like you had a very small hair dryer, where did you buy it from please? So good to have an Aussie doing this, most of the you tube is USA and unable to understand all the different mediums they use. Thanks!
That's called the world's smallest blower, it runs off usb power and is available in Oz at officeworks for $20. You can also get them on ebay or Amazon 👍🐨
The cell activator is Amsterdam black paint mixed with water. That's it. Make it slightly thinner than the colored paints. I also have used 1part Amsterdam paint 1part water 2parts glue all. Works well
Love the technique and the process !! I'm in the US and have no clue what Joe Sonia is, so I'll be googling soon. Edit : To the other confused Yanks here, Joe Sonia is acrylic gloss varnish (water-based polyurethane).
I do dot painting and someone said they add Infacol colic drops to their paints to get rid of air bubbles. She was a theatre nurse and said they used it a lot. It might help x
Super, looks great. What exactly is your Sonja....varnish? I'm in Germany. What kind of alternative do I need?. Love your large turntable. Where do I get one like that?
I am not Venom Art but the brand is JoSonja gloss varnish but if there is a German equivalent- like what you use to wet your pigments, if you do that, or to thin out your bloom mixture, if you do that, then use that.
Ok one last question! Can liquitex pouring medium (or another option) be substituted for the josonja? It’s like the only thing I don’t have (other than Aussie Flo, and White House paint). Please say yes - that I’ll get good cells (theoretically) without the josonja. Thank you Mr Venom! 🤗
Great video! I'm in USA where Aussie floetrol is cost prohibitive so it's great to find a recipe that doesn't use it. I'm curious what makes using the "right stuff" (Aussie floetrol, etc) more gallery quality than paint and water? Is it the quality of pebeo paint?
I have a question where do you get your spinner from and where did you get your tub from? Because I have an apartment so I’m gonna need something more like that then putting it on just a regular table
Absolutely beautiful Thank you for sharing such a brilliant tip. Here in the UK importing Australian Floetrol is way too expensive. Can I ask if any gloss varnish would work? Your gloss varnish isn’t available here 🙁
I try the paint and water with the house paint for a pillow and the large white round dots came through. I also used amsterdam paint with American floetrol and min wax wood conditioner for my CA. I don't like the big round dots they are not cells. What di I do wrong?😮
Because you mixed water with your house paint pillow, you don't add anything to the pillow paint. It won't work if you don't follow the instructions in the video. 👍🐨
I am sorry I miss lead you. I didn't add water to the house paint. I just poured it straight from the can. I mixed my acrylic paints with only water. Thank you for replying.
Mr Venom! Have you tried using liquitex iridescent medium with your paints - with any success? I’ve got a bottle that I’ve never used and would love to find a use for it! ❤
I would like to do this on a large round lazy Susan. Should I do more than one layer of each color in order to cover the entire round. I’m guessing it’s at least 18” in circumference. Love the color palette!
After about 20 different videos I discovered you and at least understand more than nothing with the others. What is the Joe Sonia for. I am in South Africa and will definitely not found it here. Thanks for your awesome video and excellent explaining
Thank you 👌🐨 The josonja gloss varnish is a waterbased polyurethane, it helps stop the water breaking the binders that hold together acrylic paint. Acrylic paint doesn't like it when you add more than 30% water to it. Also being a hi gloss it helps with cells, as it changes the surface tension of the cell activator ( and who would think science would be helpful in painting lol ). As you are in south Africa, I'd try a different water based polyurethane gloss varnish that's available there and experiment with it. I hope this helps 👍🐨
Thanks, Wombat. I have some Liquitex Fluro colors. Would they work for this recipe ? I already use Amsterdam Lamp Black for my CA. I do like the Pebeo Paints (goody, more stuff to buy 😉),
Ty It looks messy, I wanted to try, since I basically do still Art, watercolor and Acrylic. Never did this! I have limited space. Is your tub a cement tub for easy cleaning? I will have to find something like that , and use it in my garage! Ty again for your videos too.

The josonja gloss varnish works best as it dries at the same rate as the paints used, other products tend to dry faster causing cracking

Just discovered your channel today. I"m a new subscriber now!

Mr Venom! Have you tried using liquitex iridescent medium with your paints - with any success? I’ve got a bottle that I’ve never used and would love to find a use for it! ❤
I like it for Dutch pours using transparent and semi transparent colours with it., blings up the colours 👍🐨
@@venomfluidart thank you so much!
Does the black need to be thinner to be a cell activator? I noticed all paints are mixed with water so how does the black work to activate?
Yes, it's the same ingredients just thinner, being thin over the thicker colours it breaks the surface tension and creates the cells 👍🐨
I would like to do this on a large round lazy Susan. Should I do more than one layer of each color in order to cover the entire round. I’m guessing it’s at least 18” in circumference. Love the color palette!
Hi Cathy, yes you can do multi layers or just more of each colour ❤️🐨
I’m still not sure what makes a cell activator I seen you put some black stuff in a cup but what do you add to make it an activator?
It's the exact same mix of josonja gloss varnish and water at a different ratio that was added to the colours.
