I can just buy instant noodles or some pre-made convenience store food and that would be the cheapest best meal than buying all the ingredients required for just even one of these dorm meals!
I think people are confusing the concept of dorm room recipes for everyday ingredients. Like you cant do much cooking in most dorm rooms so its just healthy foods you can make in the microwave, not necessarily shit you probably keep laying around in the fridge
Or disabled and still need to eat, because people need to eat. 25% of the population is disabled. Why are some abled people such dicks? No offense, of course. 👹

Idk...when I lived in a college dorm, the last I had was a refrigerator full of eggs, veggies, meat and cheese. These are some great quick meals though that I may use for the office!
whats in your fridge is completely up to you and your budget, and if you dont have enough money for cheese and frozen veggies than you should've gotten a part time job
K W.S: My roommate and I each had a tiny refrigerator in our tiny room which held mostly beverages...really couldn’t keep it stocked with food. LOL! Relied on the cafeteria for full meals each day. Had nothing to do with budget!

Idk when I was 17-19 I would be that extra. I had a laundry basket filled with food but I would've never gotten a fricken spaghetti squash. That's just a lot.... 😂

James Rogers actually, the microwaves use, guess what “micro wave radiation” meaning if you’re dumb means “small wave” which is why they’re called microwaves ovens, the radioactive waves are too small to hurt you, but big enough to heat up the food.
For the Mac and cheese add milk and a bit of butter (a lot) and heat it for about 2-3 min a time (do this around 4-5x) and then keep adding more milk if you need to. then add your cheese and more milk and finally heat it up. That’s how i do it and it’s really good :) hope this helps
Does anyone add green onion just to be fancy? Like “oh I made a mug brownie, it’s looks a bit plain but, I ran out of frosting and sprinkles. Ah, Green onion shall do the trick!” *sprinkles some green onion on a mug brownie*
I feel like it would’ve made more sense if this was titled “microwave friendly recipes” since most of the ingredients needed aren’t what you would normally store in your college dorm. Still loved the recipes though.
the problem here is that tasty seems to be under the assumption that most college kids just have all these ingredients lying around or that they have the kind of money to go get this stuff. “broke college kid” isn’t a joke! i’m a sophomore and i personally can’t afford to buy stuff like fresh mozzarella or quinoa, etc. some stuff, maybe, but i personally find myself having to eat what the school provides to save money. that’s just me tho!
no nope Well if you have your school’s meal plan, this video was not directed at you. This video is directed at students who have to cook for themselves. Every meal on here is cheaper per serving than anything you can buy premade.
@winterhawk. yeah but it's basically gonna fucking kill you since an instant noodles has alot of sodium which is almost equivalent to your daily sodium intake so unless you want to die then yeah he'll yeah let's buy some insta noodle
NTR3380 that’s really only if you put in the flavor packet depending on what kind of instant noodles you get??? if you get the ones where you stir in the flavor powder stuff afterwards, you can decide how much to put in (ultimately changing the sodium levels). you can also add in frozen veggies or an egg to get more out of your meal than just sodium while also keeping the price low (so long as you know where to find cheap vegetables, freezer veggies work fine).
you can just eat the noodles dry :) i first tried it because it said something about it in undertale (i know i shouldn't just randomly listen to video games, shh) and they tasted pretty alright
This is perfect for military too. After PT in the morning, we never have time to eat. Definitely going to get some groceries to make some 5 minute breakfasts in the morning.
Finally a nice comment :-) Thank you for that. After reading the negative drivel from others, it's refreshing that you and I see the value in this video. Some youngsters won't realize the worth what they just saw until they are older and "real life" sets in with children, spouse, full-time career, lack of sleep and just plain age-related health. :-)
@@alynsr really good! The one this is that if you have a newer microwave be careful, because if you aren't watching it once it gets to around the 2 minute mark it suddenly bubbles over in 3 seconds flat. I think the best way is to do 1 and a 1/2 minutes, take it out and cover it with a towel, cut your cheese into super tiny pieces (I hate taking out the cheese grater lol) and then put it back in for another minute and a half. Its more tedious, and sometimes you need to put it in for longer, but in the end it's really good, and the time in between cutting cheese is much better than cleaning the water from you microwave, trust me😂 But overall, it depends on your microwave, so the best way is to test it out and be careful, and once you know what you're doing, you're set! edit: and use the biggest mug you have! This gives you more time to run to the microwave if you see it start to bubble over. Added to that, make sure the water is just covering the noodles, or its a recipe for disaster...
I just tried it too and I did have to cook the noodles longer than 3 minutes and yes I had to watch for the bubbling over of the water! But I just opened it up about every 30-60 seconds to make sure it was doing okay. I also had to add a little more water but didnt have to strain thank goodness. Overall, its really good! Im surprised it worked to be honest lol
@@sage7516 agreed on that lol. I have a continuous problem of putting too much water, and then when I have to strain it I lose a few noodles which usually devastates my 1am brain 😂😂

My microwave is dead *silent.* I enjoy cooking food in the microwave at 3:00AM knowing when it's done it won't make the infernal beeping noise. Person commenting: Is there a way to learn this power?
Completely disagree. Pretty much none of those meals cost over a few dollars per serving, at most. Rice, eggs, frozen veggies, pasta, soy sauce... all very cheap. The most expensive items were the avocado, the pre-cooked frozen chicken, and sesame oil and none of those are actually expensive. These were ALL more budget friendly than fast food and way better for you.
Some of these wouldn't be storage friendly considering in some dorms you only have a mini fridge but other than that it's pretty budget friendly. Like mac and cheese is like the national broke food
0:13 Guys the macaroni recipe tastes fabulous but for those who wanna try that, the water boils up from the cup and ur microwave is gonna be floated...so better boil the mac in wok/pan and add cheese & milk then keep it in the microwave for the cheese to melt...tastes so good
this is such a weird argument, is squash banned from your campus? do people bully each other for eating vegetables? because you can buy whatever the fuck you want from the grocery store.
K W.S why the FUCK do you keep bringing this up to other people like???????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! no college kid is just gonna keep a fucking squash in their tiny ass fridge!!!!!
i tried the mac n cheese and it came out really good!! i just have a few tips 1. make sure to cook it for extra time!! i cooked it for like 3 minutes and 30 seconds. depending on what pasta you’re using it could be different, but make sure to try it so it’s how you like your pasta texture to be. it also overflows so u might want to put a paper towel in there or sumn. 2. add more cheese and milk!! there definitely wasn’t enough and once i added enough it became super creamy and cheesy 3. add more salt and pepper at the end for like actual flavor hope this helped!
I made the rice bowl and it was actually really good! I just had to microwave the egg for a little longer and add a bit more water to the rice, but overall its a good recipe because its simple, easy and delicious Thankyou! 😁
I just tried the "veggie and cheese". It was so good! I'm not in a dorm but I'm living alone for the first time and new to cooking so was lookin for simple things. I did pre cook the spinach slightly on the stove, and added some seasonings to the egg-cheese-milk mix. These recipes look great, thank you!
Sarcasm and rude comments aside, this video is great and thank you. Its been a huge help. I live by myself and making food especially those rice bowls is a blessing.
Im trying the mac and cheese one *now* i will tell u guys the results Edit:......its still hard...anddd my microwave is almost ruined. -.- TYSM FOR THE 82 LIKESSS :3
You shouldve bought quick cook pasta. It's much more easier. Then you put it in a mug with hot kettle water to make the process quicker and put it in the microwave with salt but take it out every minute or so to check if its cooked. Then take out the excess water and put the pasta into another mug with cheese inside (I just put parmesan bc Its the only cheese in my fridge). Mix them well together then put it in the microwave for a bit checking once in a while so the cheese doesnt burn and then take it out and it's done. Dont add milk unless you want your microwave to explode.
Just because there’s a microwave doesn’t mean this is dorm friendly. Using a microwave for that 10 minute baked potato is highly unrealistic and the chances that u have all the ingredients is not very likely...idk anyone that goes out and buys a spaghetti squash to bring back to there dorm. But I think this would be better “hack recipes” for an rv or a camper that had a microwave
what? A. you can buy a microwave for your room if it doesn't have one. And B. What you keep in your fridge is completely up to you unless you are on a meal plan, just because you are young doesn't mean you cant buy a vegetable
K W.S girl shut tf up she never said that dorms don't have a microwave. plus do u really think that a freshman in college can just go and buy an expensive microwave??? ALSO a whole ass spaghetti squash is gonna take up all the room in the damn mini fridge
@@scarletwidowsbroski you can buy a microwave for 30-40 bucks at Wal-Mart, and of it takes up that much space you could just eat it the same day you buy it
That's a shame. I am not in college and some of these really work in a pinch at home. You just have to learn how to use the microwave. In other words, each microwave has its own quirks. You have to adjust the cooking time and setting. Do you want to eat microwave meals all the time? No but could you eat some of these all year long - yep. Suppliment these with a great salad and there you go. And let's remember many college students were quarantined last year. I am sure this was a great help to them.
For the people wondering if the mac n cheese recipe works, it dose! it was delious and cured my cravings lol. the only thing i had to change was i had to put it in the microwave for 5 minutes. i was fine with this tho bc it came out great! this recipe really dose work😍❤#lazypeople
okay like these recipes are cool, but remember that kids have a mini fridge and also basically only have access to stuff they can steal from the dining hall or can buy at a convenient store. There wasn’t even a grocery store nearby my college. and if you’re making one recipe, you’re not going to buy full bottles of condiments since they’re just going to sit there and go bad. If you have olive oil or vegetable oil on hand as a college student, you probably have a kitchen. The one “meal” I would make was pasta in a mug with butter from the dining hall and some of my kraft Parmesan cheese since that stuff lasts for quite a while
Rachel Asher You were in a pretty rare situation if you didn’t have access to a grocery store. Most colleges are in urban areas. Most condiments, including all the condiments in this video, take years to go bad.
Okay and some colleges prohibit from bringing your car or don’t have one. Going to the grocery store on the bus then bringing stuff back isn’t convenient. Most colleges are closer to target and Walmart anyways so it’s not like they have regular groceries
Princess Vasquez you can definitely go by bus. You don’t need to buy tons of stuff, just get a backpack and maybe an extra bag. Vegetables aren’t heavy and neither is most the other stuff. You’re also not supposed to make everything in this video.
F. Ruit for my school taking the bus to an actual grocery store is 40 minutes. I have a job (29 hours), in two clubs, an internship and take 18 units. Did you go to college?
Princess Vasquez I am in college (though in Europe) I walk 40 minutes to the grocery store, we don’t have a dining area that provides food, I have uni 6 days a week from 8-4:30 at least, when I can I work on the weekends. That’s how it is. Grocery shopping has to be part of my routine.

I think people are confusing the concept of dorm room recipes for everyday ingredients. Like you cant do much cooking in most dorm rooms so its just healthy foods you can make in the microwave, not necessarily shit you probably keep laying around in the fridge
Okay but chances are if you're living in a dorm you really only have access to everyday ingredients. Tasty very often lacks this kind of help.

I feel like it would’ve made more sense if this was titled “microwave friendly recipes” since most of the ingredients needed aren’t what you would normally store in your college dorm. Still loved the recipes though.
Did u like the spaghetti squash?.
yah cuz every college kid is definitely going to have a spaghetti squash lying around
Of course! I never leave home without it.
the problem here is that tasty seems to be under the assumption that most college kids just have all these ingredients lying around or that they have the kind of money to go get this stuff.
Every meal on here is cheaper per serving than anything you can buy premade.
appleintosh that’s fair! i hadn’t thought about that since at my school it’s mandatory for all students to have a meal plan through the school.
Great video! I'm outta college, but I'm sure glad I've 3 dozen eggs in the fridge ATM.

I do the mac and cheese one when it's 1am and I'm hungry
Smart
how was it? i'm so curious about that recipe.

I am sure this was a great help to them.

okay like these recipes are cool, but remember that kids have a mini fridge and also basically only have access to stuff they can steal from the dining hall or can buy at a convenient store.
Just cus u can make it with a microwave doesn’t mean it’s dorm friendly...
