Hi All, Further Feedback; Moza investigated the Oscillations after the review and have fed back. They have said it's quite common across all brands just due to the way the adapter works essentially with how wheel compatibility works. They will however continue to develop the wheel and make further improvements where they can. I will be responding to comments when I can so if you do have any questions they will be answered!
Hi and thank you for the feedback. What i´d like to know whether Moza will release a PS5 compatible version of their wheel/bases. For the price of the Moza Wheel and adapter i can get the Fanatec (but i don´t want to for the current price which is much higher than for their PC/XBox products.
@@jg4_skylon848 Moza have confirmed that they're in contact with Sony regarding a PS5 wheelbase but are asking people to be patient and to be ready for a slightly higher price.
Hey @tidgney, I am not sure which out of 3 components did it, but current GT7 + latest MOZA FW + latest Brook FW are much better now. There's no oscillation, unless you drive some meme car like tomahawk at 600 km/h
The oscillations are caused by the adapter emulating a G29. I have a PS compatible Fanatec wheel, and I used to use a Drivehub because i have non Fanatec pedals and it also oscillates when the drivehub is set to emulate a G29.
Thanks for the review Tidgney! Especially for mentioning the oscillation issue with the adapter. When I was on the market for DD wheel for PS5, none of the reviews on YT have mentioned that unfortunately. And it was hard to get help with that issue because regular DD base owners do confuse this specific oscillation in GT7 with regular behavior of DD wheels, which is not the same. With R9 it will make impossible to drive a tomahawk in a straight line due to constant battle with the wheel that is shimmying hard. R16/21 are probably even worse due to higher torque.
I try to be as thorough as possible. I do miss things myself sometimes but I like to hope a 4 week test (Or longer in this case) helps me try to cover most things
Great review, definitely one to keep an eye on if they can get it sorted with PlayStation and the adapter won't be needed (despite also appearing to be a pretty good product)
Really enjoyed this overview of the R5 bundle! I ultimately pulled the trigger and picked up the bundle and the dongle for PS5. Excited to give it a go when they arrive! Seems like the best option in Canada, at least in Ontario anyway.
When I first got my gt dd pro I started using it with the pedals as far apart as they could be (like your set up here) after a week or so I got really bad pain on the bridge/outside of my right foot. I basically had my foot at a weird angle when using (my heal would've naturally sit more in the middle of the plate). If I put wight on it the wrong way I'd get a horrible shooting strain like pain. They're now mounted in the middle (close together) and I'm happy to say the pain has gone away. LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOO 40K SUBS!
My R5 has been flawless in harware and software. My previous Fanatec CSR Elite was a pain in the ass to set up, clunky to use and never got updated drivers. Moza is killing it! I think I will upgrade to the R12 and KS wheel.
Thanks for a great review. I have an r5 and adapter and have no issues once you update firmware on the raslution2. I hope Moza do have PS compatibility. For the price its a good deal. I upgraded pedals to the srp and the wheel to the GS formula.
So I can use any Moza wheelbase week and pedal with raslution2 on os5? If so, If I buy 12NM wheelbase , can I run T 10nm on Ps5 and get full forcefeedback? I’m worried to waste money.
Consider reducing ffb and playing with dampening to reduce oscillation (note this will effect driving oscillations more than vs standstill oscillations but the heaviness makes the ossilations harder ) but as you prob know its a balance of performance and quality of life with direct drive wheels
These oscillations we see on the video are specific to GT7 and how GT7 is behaving with G29 that is emulated by the adapter. I have similar setup with Ras1ution 2 and MOZA R9, and oscillation is not there when same setup is used with Dirt 2 or ACC on PS5. But it is true that by increasing dampening, inertia and friction it is possible to mitigate the oscillation in GT7 to some extent with a trade off for quality that you have already mentioned.
@@_hepukt4e agreed that they are game specific. But not limited to any platform. I have experienced them on AMS2, forza 7, AC and iracing at my ffb and damp settings. Acc just does a better job at dealing with them but that’s because the default settings opt for a lot of in game dampening which I don’t use. So oscillations occur as I opt for less dampening for quicker reactions. THIS IS ALL IN RELATION TO DIRECT DRIVE WHEELS. Btw

@@grahamkelly8662 perfectly? No. Ut depends on the game, too. Recent update to gran turismo 7 made it a lot better than it was before. I tested Ras1ution2 with MOZA R9 in DR2.0 long time ago, it was working fine.
on the fanatec dd pro you are also able to change the settings whilst driving. however you can do it on the little screen on the wheel itself which to me is easier
You're the first reviewer on UA-cam, who likes the breaking pedal without the performance kit mod. Is it really that good? Because if yes I can save the money for the mod.
For me, personally I'm looking at this from a comparison to the logitech pedals and the T3PAs. I do honestly think they are good. Most reviewers will get the brake mod and put it in and will feel its better, and I suspect it is (I do have the brake mode and I haven't tried it yet), but I can't fault the standard pedals at all other than the freedom to move them due to my footplate on my rig.
Great review. I was going to order the R5 bundle and found out that Micro Center has them in stock, so I went there today and bought one. New to sim racing, so I am watching videos to see which game I should start with to get into sim racing.
thanks for the comment! In terms of sim racing if you have a PC iRacing for the varied content although it is buying each piece of content individually. Assetto Corsa / Competizione also good shouts depending on what you like. AC for the varied content and modding community, ACC for pure GT3
I just picked up the Moza r5 at Micro Center for about $367 and the Ras1ution at Amazon for $76 both during prime day. All is working great. I have a pc too, but never gamed on it. Built it for video editing, but Ai is working better than me.
I’m using the same set up (mainly because Fanatec dont ship here) and loving it so far. I would recommend getting the pressure kit for the brake pedal to add a bit more feel, pretty affordable and takes a moment to install. Also playing ACC on console too (my PC isn’t beefy enough for it) and it feels good (and no straight line oscillation) although it would be interesting to compare. I’m playing Dirt Rally across both platforms and the console version seems to have vaguer FFB. I wondered if GT is also suffering due to the adapter. but you seem happy with the results Tidge, so feeling pretty justified with my choice to go with moza. Will definitely also get the app now as well
It is a good wheel, thoroughly enjoyed using it, the only reason I can't recommend it as the channel is mainly on console is because of that compatibility issue it has. Certainly had plenty of positive experiences with it and it hands down beats the T-GT I used to use by a country mile!

But my friend did get the moza r5 + adaptor for his ps5 and he says it works fine. He also has a pc and he said they both feel rather similar so yea
I know to reduce oscillation on my CSL Elite base there's a setting labelled "DRI" which is a drift setting, turning this to -4 or -5 fixes this and to test it just go down a straight and let go of the wheel to see the effects, so you need a similar setting to alter on the Moza, maybe try turning down FFB settings on the in-game settings first and then the opposite if it's GT7 but I think it also depends on the car you're driving especially in GT, some cars feel way heavier like the current Gr1 time attack in the LM55 VGT I had to turn my "force" setting down a notch.
If I understand this Fanatec setting correctly, a similar setting in Moza should be either "maximum wheel speed" (decrease it) or "friction" (increase it).
I'm pretty sure that the oscillations are actually caused by the telemetry translation/filtering between GT7 and the Ras1ution 2 rather than the wheel itself, because I play many racers on PS5 and GT7 is the only one which has this issue.
I keep asking everyone be I want to make sure. So if I buy raslution2 I can buy any Moza wheelbase, wheel , pedals and will work fine on Ps5? Some say forceis rubbish. What’s the deal? Is forcefeedback bad? Ok? Prettt good? Great? Or just the same as it would be if official for Ps5? I’m just worried that people are so happy that this works, they may be overlooking the possible poor forcefeedback. I really want Moza around 10nm and if I can confirm I can play dirt rally2 Wrc 9, 10 etc I’d be over the moon. Could it be worth calling gt omega and ask them? They sell Moza gear
@@grahamkelly8662 Honestly I can see why people are happy with it, because the force feedback is strong, but it lacks fidelity and can take a lot of setting up to get it just right. I'd only really suggest the Moza + Ras1ution combo if you're playing primarily on PC and don't want to buy a second wheelbase for your PS5
@@GrandpaGoesGaming ah thank you. I may just bite the bullet and go with Fanatec for Ps5. It will cost around £1700 and I’m worried because Fanatec customer service is bad, waiting 3months plus for replacements of faulty items, they in Germany and me in U.K. etc. I just know if I order Fanatec, it will go wrong and I will wait many months for replacement. Don’t get me wrong, I go many months without using my cheap wheel but going months without be faulty equipment that costs over £1600 has me worried. I guess I’m back in limbo not knowing what to do.
i brought this not long before you got it. i only use it on the PlayStation and i like it yes i worry about the adapter but so far no issues thinking of getting a xbox to play the new forza so i have 1 wheel that will cover all my playing needs my only negative i can say is the button mapping which i hope if they do get full ps compatibility will sort that issue it was the price that made it the best option for me
18:28 In regards to the wheelbase firmware update requiring a further update of the adapter firmware, I'm pretty sure you can just ignore firmware updates on the wheel. Not only you can do that, Moza actually recommends you not to update the firmware if you're satisfied with how your wheel is working. At least that was the message that popped up when I updated my R9's firmware (funnily enough, I kinda regret I decided to update it anyway :D).
Fanatec lets you adjust settings on the wheel itself as well, at least with most of the wheels (the ones that have a display) And they also recently released an app, but that requires the wheel to be connected to a PC with Fanatec software in the background
Just want to comment to add it seems like the oscillation issue has been figured out. I followed doughtinators setup and adjustment on a recently purchased r5/ras1ution and I don’t have the oscillations
Great review of the wheel buddy, i share many of the same views as you running the wheel via ras2 adapter. Any chance you could share the actual settings you are using in moza pithouse so i can give them a try. As for the oscillating, iv often wondered if its the way gt7 handles trueforce on the g29. Trueforce makes engine vibration effects on the wheel and im wondering if thats what we are feeling when stood still. The playstation sees the wheel as a g29 and applys trueforce effects which means the wheel is trying to mimic the engine vibrations only they come through stronger because its direct drive and doesnt have the play in the gearing like the g29. One of the cons for me would be the amount of desk clamp that sits below the desk. The amount of times iv banged my knee on the massive clamp bolts. Yes they give a lot of freedom when it cones to thickness of desk but for me persobally theyre just too big. Anyway thanks again and if you could id look forward to trying your pithouse settings
Thankyou :)! All my settings are in the video when I go through the software, literally that's the exact settings I use. Ye Moza did say it is to do with that (The oscillating that is). Hopefully that can be solved! Ahh yes that's something I should have mentioned more with the deskclamp it doe sit low. Wheel bolt holes lined up exactly but the bolts(not screws) weren’t long enough so I was forced to use the desk clamp…… can’t imagine why you felt forced to use the desk clamp rather than to popping to screw fix and spending £4 on some more suitable bolts, perhaps a filming deadline, but the next day?!)
There was no filming deadline. I review the wheel as I get it, if I have to buy extra parts then that's not reviewing the wheel that's reviewing it with additional help which some people may not have as much access to. So the idea behind the review is review the product as is, can i use it when i get it. If I can't use it as I want have they given me the ability to use the wheel with other methods like the desk clamp etc.
Can someone help me. I have a ts-xw and the thrustmaster pedals which connect to the base which I used for pc racing but I have now got gt7. So I got the raslution adaptor. GT7 recognises It as the T150. But when I go to pedal calibration nothing registers 😢 and wheel don’t work in game
I can't find it anywhere, but can I use the Raz1ution adapter with the Moza R9 with the Moza SR-P pedal set (no clutch)? Or would I have to get the Moza R5 wheel?
I haven't got the R9 to test, my R16 doesn't work with the adapter, but you may have to look at reddit and other areas to see if anyone has used it for that. (I'm sure someone has).
From what I've seen online I saw that you need to power up the wheel base first, then connect it to the adapter, and then plug into the console itself via the front usb port once the PS is already turned on. I am looking at buying this setup and adapter, but this issue has got me a little worried so I have done some research into it. Let me know if this works/solves the issue for you
@@SoPhATy Yeah, I found it and also plugging into the front of ps5 helps because of the heat soak from the back, had it working now for a few days and no issues now

I did enjoy the review and the content however as I have no PC at all and only a PS4 it’s probably not suitable for me. Edit… the price is prohibitive as well. This is almost double the cost in Australia. $1200 for playing games 😳 can’t justify. 🤷🏻♂️
I got one two weeks ago und not impressed. It was a whim as I wanted second wheel for downstairs smaller rig. It has been a chore tweaking it constantly, Sim Mini is night und day in a league far far above this. It is not as intuitive, documentation is shoddy, I can go on. I was expecting something nearer Sim mini without having to spend that much again. The wheel does that on AMS2, PC2, AC. The only title that worked halfway decent was ACC as you didn't need too assign the buttons. I bent the brake plate using the brake mod that ist sold seperately.
@@tidgney Danke; I think being 194 cm und 123k that R5 was probably too small. I did get Logitech G Pro as secondary wheel und it slowly becoming primary as the detail better than the Alpha. Have fun....
I tried this adapter with a Moza R9 and the FFB will randomly dissapear often, id usually only get 2 minutes of gameplay begore the FFB is gone, and the only way to get the FFB to return was by restarting the PS5. Im returning it, its junk.
@tidgney oh I actually figured out why this was since I posted this comment. It the pithouse software, I had "hands off protection" on, and when I turned it off, the problem was fixed. So for whatever reason, the hands off protection must have been activating even when I'm holding onto the wheel.
I would argue no because you want a fully compatible wheel with your main piece of hardware. If the Moza R5 did become an official wheel then yes, otherwise no.
I have the same set up, but mine jerks violently when centered, but is smooth when turned. However when turned I don’t feel any feedback even when running over curbs, just has a bit of weight to it. Anyone experienced this. Tried adjusting everything and can’t seem to fix it. Updated all firmware too. It’s basically un- usable for me right now
@@tidgney I did, but nothing seems to work. Haven’t tried it since then so maybe I’ll see if there are any new updates and try again. I have basically just been waiting to use with a pc once I can get a rig setup.
Unfortunately I can't remember them at this moment if I don't show them in the video (I normally do). I'm currently testing a different wheel currently.
the moza r3 recently came out and is xbox licensed, for playstation we still need to wait who knows, a whole year for a solution that'll probably be twice the price of a standard dd@@tidgney

I got this bundle and a bunch of Moza upgrades 5 to be exact clutch perf brakes cs wheel and hgp shifter and the hand brake and I absolutely live it
The Moza has better build quality than the fanatec the fanatec stuff seems cheap and plasticy by comparison
You still have the issue of loss of detail. The G29 profile sees a huge reduction in FFB detail.

Im still not gonna consider one until it gets official playstation compatibility because i don't trust the adapters.
So, I play on PS5 and I only have a PS5, no PC. Am I better off just buying a T300 RS GT, if the R5 with the adapter is a bit, well, bad?

@@vsm1456 The DRI setting on Fanatec makes the wheel feel more responsive
I'm pretty sure that the oscillations are actually caused by the telemetry translation/filtering between GT7 and the Ras1ution 2 rather than the wheel itself, because I play many racers on PS5 and GT7 is the only one which has this issue.
I keep asking everyone be I want to make sure. So if I buy raslution2 I can buy any Moza wheelbase, wheel , pedals and will work fine on Ps5? Some say forceis rubbish. What’s the deal? Is forcefeedback bad? Ok? Prettt good? Great? Or just the same as it would be if official for Ps5? I’m just worried that people are so happy that this works, they may be overlooking the possible poor forcefeedback. I really want Moza around 10nm and if I can confirm I can play dirt rally2 Wrc 9, 10 etc I’d be over the moon. Could it be worth calling gt omega and ask them? They sell Moza gear
@@grahamkelly8662 Honestly I can see why people are happy with it, because the force feedback is strong, but it lacks fidelity and can take a lot of setting up to get it just right. I'd only really suggest the Moza + Ras1ution combo if you're playing primarily on PC and don't want to buy a second wheelbase for your PS5

It will cost around £1700 and I’m worried because Fanatec customer service is bad, waiting 3months plus for replacements of faulty items, they in Germany and me in U.K. etc. I just know if I order Fanatec, it will go wrong and I will wait many months for replacement. Don’t get me wrong, I go many months without using my cheap wheel but going months without be faulty equipment that costs over £1600 has me worried. I guess I’m back in limbo not knowing what to do.
i brought this not long before you got it. i only use it on the PlayStation and i like it yes i worry about the adapter but so far no issues thinking of getting a xbox to play the new forza so i have 1 wheel that will cover all my playing needs my only negative i can say is the button mapping which i hope if they do get full ps compatibility will sort that issue it was the price that made it the best option for me
It’s not even the cheapest option on the market. And the CSL DD you can upgrade to 8nm
You could of got the fanatec gt pro dd and it would of worked on ps5 and Xbox and pc with no adapter at all and could of upgraded to a 8nm kit.
18:28 In regards to the wheelbase firmware update requiring a further update of the adapter firmware, I'm pretty sure you can just ignore firmware updates on the wheel. Not only you can do that, Moza actually recommends you not to update the firmware if you're satisfied with how your wheel is working. At least that was the message that popped up when I updated my R9's firmware (funnily enough, I kinda regret I decided to update it anyway :D).

Fanatec lets you adjust settings on the wheel itself as well, at least with most of the wheels (the ones that have a display)
And they also recently released an app, but that requires the wheel to be connected to a PC with Fanatec software in the background
Just want to comment to add it seems like the oscillation issue has been figured out. I followed doughtinators setup and adjustment on a recently purchased r5/ras1ution and I don’t have the oscillations
Great review of the wheel buddy, i share many of the same views as you running the wheel via ras2 adapter.
Any chance you could share the actual settings you are using in moza pithouse so i can give them a try.
As for the oscillating, iv often wondered if its the way gt7 handles trueforce on the g29. Trueforce makes engine vibration effects on the wheel and im wondering if thats what we are feeling when stood still. The playstation sees the wheel as a g29 and applys trueforce effects which means the wheel is trying to mimic the engine vibrations only they come through stronger because its direct drive and doesnt have the play in the gearing like the g29.
One of the cons for me would be the amount of desk clamp that sits below the desk. The amount of times iv banged my knee on the massive clamp bolts. Yes they give a lot of freedom when it cones to thickness of desk but for me persobally theyre just too big.

Ye Moza did say it is to do with that (The oscillating that is). Hopefully that can be solved!
Ahh yes that's something I should have mentioned more with the deskclamp it doe sit low. I do love how strong it is though, seems far better than any other that i've tried!

Wheel bolt holes lined up exactly but the bolts(not screws) weren’t long enough so I was forced to use the desk clamp…… can’t imagine why you felt forced to use the desk clamp rather than to popping to screw fix and spending £4 on some more suitable bolts, perhaps a filming deadline, but the next day?!)
There was no filming deadline. I review the wheel as I get it, if I have to buy extra parts then that's not reviewing the wheel that's reviewing it with additional help which some people may not have as much access to. So the idea behind the review is review the product as is, can i use it when i get it. If I can't use it as I want have they given me the ability to use the wheel with other methods like the desk clamp etc.
Moza should send you the R9 & R21 to review.
Can someone help me. I have a ts-xw and the thrustmaster pedals which connect to the base which I used for pc racing but I have now got gt7. So I got the raslution adaptor. GT7 recognises It as the T150. But when I go to pedal calibration nothing registers 😢 and wheel don’t work in game
I can't find it anywhere, but can I use the Raz1ution adapter with the Moza R9 with the Moza SR-P pedal set (no clutch)? Or would I have to get the Moza R5 wheel?
I haven't got the R9 to test, my R16 doesn't work with the adapter, but you may have to look at reddit and other areas to see if anyone has used it for that. (I'm sure someone has).
Tidge, did you ever find a solution for the disconnecting issue? I'm having that issue currently and it's annoying the hell out of me.
From what I've seen online I saw that you need to power up the wheel base first, then connect it to the adapter, and then plug into the console itself via the front usb port once the PS is already turned on. I am looking at buying this setup and adapter, but this issue has got me a little worried so I have done some research into it. Let me know if this works/solves the issue for you
@@SoPhATy Yeah, I found it and also plugging into the front of ps5 helps because of the heat soak from the back, had it working now for a few days and no issues now

Funnily enough, every reviewer stated the pedals being the weakest point, especially without the performance kit upgrade.
I suppose it's perspective fo what they are used to or what they are comparing against. I will say now even reviewing other wheels since this the pedals are class leading at this price point.
I did enjoy the review and the content however as I have no PC at all and only a PS4 it’s probably not suitable for me.
Edit… the price is prohibitive as well. This is almost double the cost in Australia. $1200 for playing games 😳 can’t justify. 🤷🏻♂️

I got one two weeks ago und not impressed. It was a whim as I wanted second wheel for downstairs smaller rig. It has been a chore tweaking it constantly, Sim Mini is night und day in a league far far above this. It is not as intuitive, documentation is shoddy, I can go on. I was expecting something nearer Sim mini without having to spend that much again. The wheel does that on AMS2, PC2, AC. The only title that worked halfway decent was ACC as you didn't need too assign the buttons. I bent the brake plate using the brake mod that ist sold seperately.
Appreciate you posting your experience with the wheel! Of course I had a very different experience but it's good people see all sides.
@@tidgney Danke; I think being 194 cm und 123k that R5 was probably too small. I did get Logitech G Pro as secondary wheel und it slowly becoming primary as the detail better than the Alpha. Have fun....

It'll work for any racing game where the g29 is supported as that is effectively what it is mimicing.

I tried this adapter with a Moza R9 and the FFB will randomly dissapear often, id usually only get 2 minutes of gameplay begore the FFB is gone, and the only way to get the FFB to return was by restarting the PS5. Im returning it, its junk.
Mine didn't do that, but it's a different patch now and this means there will be different experiences, sorry to hear you had the issues you had.
@tidgney oh I actually figured out why this was since I posted this comment. It the pithouse software, I had "hands off protection" on, and when I turned it off, the problem was fixed. So for whatever reason, the hands off protection must have been activating even when I'm holding onto the wheel.

I would argue no because you want a fully compatible wheel with your main piece of hardware. If the Moza R5 did become an official wheel then yes, otherwise no.
How did you get your pedals to work on the adapter
I think the pedals he is using is the srp light which is included in the bundle. And it's mode of connection is at the wheel base of the r5.
Its as Sol has said, they connect straight to the wheel, and it's the wheel that connects to the adapter.
They need official support, the G29 FFB profile is rubbish compared to the official DD FFB.
I have the same set up, but mine jerks violently when centered, but is smooth when turned. However when turned I don’t feel any feedback even when running over curbs, just has a bit of weight to it. Anyone experienced this. Tried adjusting everything and can’t seem to fix it. Updated all firmware too. It’s basically un- usable for me right now

You will need the rim with the Xbox chip in however they don't sell that seperately at the moment.
the moza r3 recently came out and is xbox licensed, for playstation we still need to wait who knows, a whole year for a solution that'll probably be twice the price of a standard dd@@tidgney
