It was 1978...I had just enlisted into U.S Marines, my girlfriend and future wife of our 5 children danced very slow to this song prom night...later on I got her pregnant with our first child...Thanks Earth wind and fire!
I volunteered during the draft so I could pick my own poison (MOS), I saw EWF the first time in 1975 at the Nassau Coliseum in Strong Island New York while I was on leave, the 2nd time in 1979 at the no longer there Seattle Coliseum, by the way EWF played for 31/2 hours anyways that was a beautiful story you told about your family & blessings to you and yours, Semper Fi, my unit was the 2nd battalion 39th Infantry out of the 9th Infantry Division, were the Boys of Company B at Ft. Lewis Seattle WA. 98433.☯️✊👊🙏
If I ever get re-married, I want this to be my wedding song. It's just a song that sends chills thru your body and you actually feel it! Maurice White and Larry Dunn were geniuses for this one!
Totally agree !!! I always insisted my husband only danced with me during this song. He’s deceased now but he absolutely LOVED “EWF”! Maurice KILLIN those high notes👏🏼👏🏼🔥✨
Yes,brothers and sisters ,he owns this song right here ,right now, ! I feel you Rice,,he is ever wonderful.I hear you in the background Philip, and is that smooth sax Andrew Woolfolk ?always my fave,RIP Don Myrick,,,love you too.
Man... this group has been my favorite since I was a kid but unfortunately I never got the chance to see them live with Maurice. This was so beautiful.. ty for posting it. I've probably played at least one of their songs every day since I first heard them..and I'm 59 lol. Reese.. hope one day we can see you sing again
I was in love with Maurice White from a young girl, to a teenager to an adult woman- his style, his swagger, his finess, his beautiful singing voice, his beautiful style, even his receding hairline and broad forehead made me swoon! What a beautiful, brilliant Man! RIP Mr. Maurice White!
It was just something about him that made him very sexy on stage! I loved him too. Met him briefly when they did a show in Germany! Super nice guy! I also read his biography and it was great!!!!
I’m always on my Earth Wind and Fire before the Verses but this song right here Wow I don’t know if I heard it before as a kid or maybe I’m just old enough to understand it now♥️♥️♥️
😇😇😇😇😇😇🥰🥰..That dude Right There!.. notice Noone on the planet would be foolish enough to attempt a rendition...its Illegal.....oh my lord that voice and the elements that phillip bailys falsetto is inpecable....
Maurice White in my opinion was underrated as a singer. because his voice had the power to actually make the listener feel what he was singing, and in conjunction with the awesome musicianship of the band, and the backup vocals always takes you to another level. R.I.P. Maurice, you may be gone physically, but you will remain with us forever. I saw Earth, Wind and Fire live in 1976, The Spirit Tour, and the performance they gave was phenomenal.
I too was blessed to see EWF live during the 70's when they were in their prime. Fantastic show that brought together people from all races and backgrounds under a common theme of good music and positive vibes. I always left their show feeling good inside. EWF was definitely part of the soundtrack of my life. RIP and many thanks Maurice.
@@frankrivers2183, you are absolutely correct. When I saw them in 1976 at the Nassau Coliseum the crowd was mixed, and everyone had a beautiful time and as we were walking out of the concert after the show, people who were perfect strangers just started conversing about the show and spent time in the parking lot just having a great time. And there was no stupid stuff, just everyone enjoying the event.
This version of this song, as I see it and feel it, is the best I've heard so far. The continuous sound of the legendary Gary Byal's sax makes you cry, the sound of the sax feels like a lament that even brings good things and feelings from the soul. And the magnificent voice of Maurice White gives all the meaning to this beautiful melody.
@@FunkSoulBluesJazzRockPop I am very grateful for your explanation regarding this song and at the same time for knowing that it is not Gary Bias on sax but Don Myrick. Don Myrick is phenomenal in this version of "Be Ever Wonderful". I love to hear this version, the sound of the sax is as if it were a lament and soft accompanied by the other musicians of the band. In fact this song is the face of the band Earth, Wind & Fire. Thank you very much !!!
That's not Gary Bias on alto sax, it's the original saxophonist, the late Mr. Don Myrick. That concert was recorded in 1979, long before Gary Bias came along.
Watching this video on 4/14/2021 made me realize once again that I and those of my generations were blessed to see true musicians. EWF were simply the best and Maurice White was outstanding. Real Musicians not auto tune.
🥲ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. I have No doubt that I would have cried at a live show ! Holding it back at home. I’m sure this song Spoke to him in a way only he knows. Loaded with passion and compassion 💥💯✨🥲🔥WE NEED ALL THAT TODAY 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼✨🙏🏽🌹
People don't realize the genius of Maurice White ... take this song you have a three part harmony plus the horns as the fourth all arranged by this genius...listen to the original track ( un-fucking believable) When ever I need a boost of spiritual enlightenment... THIS IS MY GO GO TO ANTIDOTE
This was the pinnacle years of EW&F and Maurice. I saw them dozens of times since 76, and 78 to 82 was the greatest sounding live line up! The GENIUS of Maurice White!
The levels of Philip Bailey's backing vocals weren't turned high enough in this live version. Or perhaps that's just the way it's come across on UA-cam
