    So u had to use the old flywheel to make the charger coils work right? The new predators flywheel wont allow it to charge? Am i understanding correctly?

      I think that you are. From what I understand the hemi cannot be modified to produce power.

      @@stupidbikes9671 the hemi can be modified, it just needs more modifying than the standard non hemi.

    I took a crankshaft and flywheel and starter assembly and charging system off of a Honda GX200 and put it in a predator 212 it's been working fine now for about a year-and-a-half

    what size bolt went in the coil for the 212cc? was it a 10mm

    just saying the fan is on there for a reason if they thought it didnt need it it would not be on there 15% to me is better in the desert/hot climate

    So if my old ct200ex had a light on it and the motor is very similar to the 212 I can transfer my old magneto flywheel and accessories onto the predator 212?

    What kind of engine did that coil and flywheel come off of

    Well, I kinda think I sorta saw him put the coils on, but I didn't see a darn thing about lights.

      patrick thompson For the predator I picked up the coils from a gx200 from eBay but couldn't find the flywheel with magnets. I found an old Robin engine with 4 magnets I salvaged two and adhered them to the original predator flywheel using JB weld (the other two where destroyed during the removal process). There was a clearence between the flywheel and the coils was an issue the predators flywheel has a gap of 122 mm between weights the Honda is 125 mm I had no issue with the gap between the magnets 132 mm. Tried to have it machined but no one could (or wanted) to do it. So I picked up two mounted points 60 grit and with my drill spent 3 hours grinding down 1.5 mm from each one of the weights on the flywheel ended up with a 125.3 mm gap and it Worked!! Now my go kart has lights.

      i ordered the coils and flywheel for a baja warrior, the coils bolted right on the flywheel i had to use a brake cylinder hone in my drill and machine it out to fit the shaft took a few hours, slow and tedious but i finally got it and she runs beautiful , and now i have headlights tail/brake lights led of course, just waiting on motor vehicle to grant me a title

      Has the flywheel you added magnets to held up. How is it doing to date?

    it should be noted here that this only works on pre 2015 predator engines....in 2015 they introduced a change to the crank specs and older flywheels will NOT work on the new 212's....i have a video showing a different way to do this

    I have a nice 6 hp Tecumseh from my Rigid Chopper by CMB. Will the flywheel and generator system work in a swap on my Preditor 212 cc engine from my Tecumseh and will I be able to put the parts from the Preditor 212 on my Tecumseh so it's not a total waste of a nice engine? Thanks

      OK, I realize that it must be a Honda

    • @Mr_Tecumseh
      @Mr_Tecumseh 6 років тому +1

      Doesn't have to be a honda. You can get the alternator here. www.ombwarehouse.com/165-321-baja-oem-cylinder-assembly-charge-coil.html
      If you go by the part number and look around you can probably find it cheaper than that. But that's not the issue. The issue is their is no bolt on flywheel sold that will work for powering electricity on the predator, so your going to have to search really hard, I hear kohler has one that works, or your going to have to go thru the trouble of having one specially made like this guy did or fabricate it yourself, which can prove to be difficult. Plus theirs still no guarantee it will last. Ideally the flywheel sold for the min baja mini bike would have been perfect, since its ready to alternate electricity, unfortunately the taper is different, so while it will fit on, chances are real good it will fail while being run and cause engine damage and possible injury/death to the user. Good luck and if you find a setup that works that is safe without doing further fabrication, let us know.

    Does it work on the 212 predator HEMI???

  • @michaelmartinez1345
    @michaelmartinez1345 5 років тому

    Both engines appear to be hemi's... I wonder which hemi 212's (60363) had the charging systems? I also wonder which hemi 212's (60363) without charging systems had tapped holes on the charging coil pedestals? By beating on the end of the crankshaft with a hammer like this, it is almost certain that the ball bearings were seriously damaged and the crankshaft itself could now have stress cracks near the crank-pin areas... A suitable tool like a puller should have been used, instead of the hammer-heroics... No clearance check was made, as to how far the charging coils are spaced from the flywheel magnets...This fella , could use some training courses... He did the best he knew how to do, and that deserves credit for effort...

      you could watch a few more videos, this is the only way to remove the flywheel. maybe stop being so judgemental.

    How many “R”’s are there in washer? Easy right?

    • @dankdsign3288
      @dankdsign3288 6 років тому

      Adam Brado lmao, I've always taken off the fan and used a washer. Less resistance and allows the engine to rev faster. I don't know why people always waste time and money when a 30 cent washer does what a $17 dollar plastic fan does.

    Why not ditch the fan and use a washer? I've been building engines/generators using washers for years. 30 cent washer or $17 dollar fan, your choice.

      what cools it when you do that not a good idea

    • @dankdsign3288
      @dankdsign3288 6 років тому +1

      Robert Vice , I've personally built a bunch of small engines without cooling fans, how many atv/motorcycle engines that are air cooled have fans on them? Not many, if at all. I've built over 30 engines for karts and never had a problem from the heat. First off the fan is enclosed and only minimally cools if 15% of the entire engine. Every atv engine I've built as well never had cooling fan and those were larger CC engines. as long as you don't leave them running in an enclosed space your perfectly fine. My generator doesn't even have a fan and it's been running fine for 3 years(open environment). Small engines always run hot.

    • @michaelmartinez1345
      @michaelmartinez1345 5 років тому +1

      Dank D'Sign - that would be a great idea to eliminate the cooling fan like that!!! Great for the people who sell engines....I strongly agree with Robert Vice on this... The fan is there for a REASON!!! So how did you determine that 15% of the engine heat is dissipated by the forced-air cooling system? On air cooled engines without forced air cooling systems, the engine MUST remain running in free-flowing air to keep it cool... Like on the air cooled motorcycle engines... In fact, many of those earlier engines needed additional engine oil coolers to keep them going in hot climates... To eliminate any part of the engine cooling system-especially the fan, is begging for trouble...
