"No other story will have you grinning like a madman yourself at the prospect of a guy putting on a lab coat quite like Zero." nicely said, Arkada. But considering the time between its end and this 3rd season, i can only hope they have had enough time to put a lot of thought into how a third season could justify its existence and not be utter shite
Nikhil Aggarwal Just because Lelouch and C.C. are still alive does not mean the story hasn't ended. They achieved world piece. They resolved pretty much every plot line. The story was finished. They have simply decided to add another story to the pre-existing one.

Steins;Gate is my all time favourite anime and the Suzuha ending in the visual novel is one of the saddest, most heartwrenching endings to anything I've played, read or seen. Haven't played Zero yet but I'm planning to very very soon.
When I played the Suzuha ending on the original VN was when the whole game was elevated for me to a masterpiece. That ending is just brilliant, daring and heartbreaking. I did like Zero a lot, specially the Maho ending - go play it!
The first time I played through steins;gate, I always read every mail cuz I didn't know that was how you choose your route. And reading all of them leads you to Suzuha's route for some reason. Was not disappointed though, great read.
I was shocked to discover there was a Suzuha ending (knew there was a VN but have only watched the anime), she even calls Okabe uncle and that’s his best friend’s daughter
I think it's almost necessary as a story to complete everyone's character arcs. Ruka finally deals with feelings of inadequacy and sacrifices himself for his friends. Daru grows and matures into the great man we always know he could be, both mentoring Suzuha as a father in 2010 and becoming a scientist and rebel leader in the future. Mayuri's arc is important too, coming to terms with her feelings for Okabe and putting her life on the line. Every labmem gets the attention they deserve. It's a masterpiece
A fun opinion: You didn't need to be so mean. It's pretty cool to know that Hostilefun went to go see the movie in its native country right on the day of its release-- shows that he/she is a real Steins; Gate fan!
Nanobot62 Honest to god. You’re full of shit. It wasn’t perfect and it is by no means standalone. Which is fine. I hate when sequels have to cater to newcomers. Zero did what t set out to do in spades and me love Steins Gate even more.
Nanobot62 NOTE: FULL OF SPOILERS Kagari isn't pointless. Kagari is the proof that Mayushii will still find her happiness. Also it expounds on the 2nd Suzuha time traveler's story. Read more about the 2nd Suzuha from other sources like mangas. And you'll get that Kagari is essential. Kagari route also talked employed the "Chicken or egg, who came first?" which is common for scifi time travel stories. Of course from the vnovel, we know that the song is born from a loop. Leskinen is really the mad scientist of the series as a whole. He's not a villian you can hate because they have their own goals and reasons, albeit against what Okabe wants. Fubuki is the proof on how the SERN or other powers would try to control the world without using Okabe's Reading Steiner. This has been a really bugging question back in Steins ; Gate. Fubuki and Kaede were mentioned by Mayushii back in Steins ; Gate so it would make sense that they'd be seen together with Yuki and Mayushii. Kaede's help is of identifying the Mozart Song List, as she's the only character who's actually able to play a damn piano. But yeah they could've included that talent to another character and it would be fine. Normal/Depressed Okabe is a refreshing take. As I've been questioning myself as to what would a normal Okabe would do in the situations back in Steins;Gate. Also Normal Okabe would probably the only one who can confront FB, and Hououin Kyouma would probably never even entertain the idea ever again. Multiple Logical Inconsistencies? Maybe you haven't understood it properly. Ask away and I'll answer. The ending DOES tie back to the original ending of S;G. Now that we compare the Mayuri back in S;G, she does not sound like a Mayuri with no idea would do. I thought that maybe Mayuri had the same occurrences as Faris, but alas, it is because she was a future Mayuri. Tl;dr You haven't digested the VN properly.
Thank you for making this, S;G 0 is an amazing VN and I feel like it hasn't gotten as much attention as it needs, hopefully more people will play it after watching this.
I wouldn't say the film made the Steins;gate franchise end on sour note at all. Can't you just pretend the movie isn't canon? I really like the movie, but yeah it has some problems. However I wouldn't say it adds nothing to the story. It really explores okabe from the outsiders perspective, and not through him as the lead. Having Makise be the lead I think was a great choice, and I loved seeing this time travel story through a different perspective since Makise was always changing like the others were when Okabe was the focus. It really cemented the relationship between the two, and just how much the characters feel about not only their friends, but about how they view themselves. Sour isn't the right word to use I think. I see it more as an optional light desert that, while not much, adds a bit to the experience if it's your particular cup of tea.
I agree. As long as the film remains as self-contained as the series, then handing the reins over to a great female character is the right choice. Especially when she isn't going to have as much screentime in Zero due to time travel and it's place in the closed loop.
I've had Zero installed and ready to play on my PS4 for a year now. I haven't started it once yet because of the same misgivings you mentioned, you've convinced me to finally play it.
I played the VN personally and I can tell you that it is insanely good. You get really attached to the new characters and their fate. You already know that the third world war is coming and that everything is slowly falling apart. You're just here to witness the revival of Hououin Kyouma and how he's going to save the world, his present friends, and Makisu Kurisu. There are 6 endings and every one of them is full of plot and emotions. If you like Steins; gate you have to buy the game!
Planning the ending ahead of the creation of the story leads to some amazing story telling when in the hands of intelligent writers. ATLA shows this fact well.
It's a refreshing surprise to see you talk about a visual novel for once. I also can't help but to notice you have a Tomoyo After poster displayed on your wall. Seeing how big of a CLANNAD fan you are and how Tomoyo After is one of the few Key visual novels that yet has an anime adaptation, I'm curious to hear your thoughts of it. (The all ages version of course.)
I feel like it's a very amusing coincidence that literally 1 week after you upload this saying it's likely going to be a very long time before the anime version of this comes out, there's an announcement it's coming out in a few months. It's like deep down, you had psychic powers that tipped you of and gave you the urge to make this video of something you usually wouldn't. Now it's very relevant.
You just Had to use the ending song from episode 23 of s;g0. I literally cannot listen to that thing without crying my eyes out. I miss this show so much and I literally finished it today
[Still waiting for the Made in Abyss review... now that a sequel is announced...] I value your opinion highly, so I need someone to validate my love for it... :D
Nice to see this sort of videos. Rarely see any anime youtubers doing proper reviews on visual novels considering it's a decent source/medium in anime culture
I believe the movie is kinda necessary as Kurisu earlier said that she had only dreams and fragments of memories of Okabe, she is not certain about their relationship... Although she believes everything Okabe told her is true yet to have the bond or real feeling, it is necessary for her to experience the pain and time travel by herself.... All this makes her mind more clear towards Okabe and I believe their relationship bond gets stronger in the final scene of the movie where she followed Okabe in every timeline and is there for him whenever he needed her... Even Hyouin Kyouma himself said that then who am I to disagree.... then who are we to judge lol.....
I don't know why they despise the movie so much. What made the movie great for me is i got to see more of Okabe and Kirisu together in a happy ending. I like sg0 too but a world that has no Kirisu feels like something is missing.
The hate was that the story the movie told was literally contradictory and repetitive and (he said it above) unoriginal. Before the movie, we were told Steins Gate is the world line with an unknown future, where neither SERN nor World War III happens, not even time machines do. It's not the best world line, but not the worst world line either. That, and the world line mechanics saying that there's always only one world line, there are no parallel world lines or universes. But NO, Okabe suffers from the overuse of his Reading Steiner, and so "fluctuates between world lines".... read again... BETWEEN. And Suzuha (here we go again)... who comes from this Steins Gate world line's future to the present with her freaking TIME MACHINE (of course Kurisu created it), yet again.
Yeah, me neither, granted im not going to lie, its not the best thing in the world, but it adds to the story in a meaningful way. It adds more to the dynamic of okabe's and kurisu's relationship, but this time from her perspective, we get to see how she feels about all of it and we get to sympathize with her instead of okabe. I honestly think that its wonderful. And tbh the drunk kurisu scene was just hilarious and adorable and amusingly awkward all at the same time.
When I had finished Steins;gate I made a promise to myself that I would look at life more positively, but after 3 months I failed myself and forgot my promise. But after I had finished Steins;gate 0, I once again remembered my promise, that I stil know today. It actually changed my life and a sequel was needed for that.
Thank you Arcada for a superb review with excellent editing and great music lead-ins. I watched the Zero's first anime episode in dub. Same brilliance as before. A little odd because I had to watch the missing link (alternate episode 23) lead-in with subs, but the anime recaps it well enough on its own if you decide to go that route. In any case, look forward to more as episode 2 (dub) is released today (May 7th). Enjoy people. Steins;Gate can't go further than this so enjoy it while it's still here and in a closed loop.
I don't agree that you shouldn't watch the movie unless you're a hardcore fan. It may not be quite as amazing as the main series, but it was still a fantastic movie in my opinion that anyone who liked Steins;Gate should watch.
Yea but the movie sadly makes no sense, so even if you watch it remember it is not canon and the events that happen in the movie never take place in real Steins Gate.
Waiting for your ongoing review! I just couldnt wait for more episodes and just started playing VN. Already past 20 h of gameplay and first ending finished :D
Nervein Z heheh, in the first VN, where Okabe starts repeating the same days (and goes biking with his friends) the ost name is CYCLE. That's brilliant.
I repeated seeing the ruturn of Hououin Kyouma several times. In each time, I find myself laughing like a mad lad. The payoff was huge. When I watched Zero through the lens of normal Okabe, it felt that he's off. It felt like he wasn't himself and I struggle everytime I watch him suffer. But when he came back to his senses, damn, it was pure happiness! The 3000 plus time travels, return of Kyouma, him posing besides Kagari and Moeka, and him saving Mayuri and Suzuha were all my top 4 moments of Zero. [ There were also a lot of other moments I love, but let's leave it at that and let Okabe take the limelight. ;) ]
Yea I loved Steins gate 0, isn’t as perfect as the original but the game is really damn good, hope 0 has a good anime adaptation, I’m curious what plot threads they cut for this, because one of my favourite arcs in 0 doesn’t lead to the true ending which sucked. Honestly biggest downside of 0 was the ending didn’t have much of a bang... also my favourite character, Suzuha, is a real stick in the mud in 0. I loved her so much in the first series but I guess it does make sense for the context of 0, still was a less enjoyable character in it imo. Honestly surprised how much I loved Maho though.
OmegaJester09 I actually thought Zero's climax was probably the most exciting part of the series as a whole. Helicopters swarming, Kagari going ham, etc.
The best part was when Okabe shouted he was Houoin Kyoma while laughing very hard while being surrounded by Leskinen along with a paramilitary organization.
you the best part is that I never knew that zero was a prequel before watching it so you can guess that I had one hell of a ride watching it, knowing steins;gate is one of my favorite anime
From what we heard from Chiyo head of MAGES. owner of SciADV, Steins;Gate 0 anime would be different from the VN so VN reader can find enjoyment from it, it is going to combine all routes to one and Okabe in the anime will be less depressed than in the VN. That's all the info we have, no release date for god so long when S;G 0 English released like more than a year ago.
As much as I absolutely loved that series, that huge cliffhanger at the end is still killing me to this day, and a third season is very unlikely from what I've heard... Still though, I don't regret watching it one bit.
Ohhhh...been holding out for the anime for so long (afraid to play the VN because I want to watch before I play). So happy you released a video on this and I can't wait to watch!!
It may be a sequel in that it happens after the original but before its true ending. It may be a prequel in that some of the important events in its story happen in order for some points in the original to happen.
having played through, and getting every ending for Steins;Gate ø, i can say that this review is very accurate. any fan of the series that hasn't played this yet should definitely play it. it's the kind of story where the various ending routes have such vast differences to them, that i think that an anime adaptation will have a hard time conveying the story well
As soon as you started laying out the plot for Zero, I may or may not have yelled "YES!" at my computer screen. I cannot wait to play this, and I don't know how I only just found out about it now.
I'm STILL waiting for a Arpeggio of Blue Steel review, Its a underrated hidden gem. I can't praise its 3d animation (Which is drop dead gorgeous with absolutely no frame drops), tactics and planning that remind me of Hunt for Red October and Code Caess, as well as the AMAZING sound design. Not to mention the MC practically has no plot armor. Only problems were that the 12 episodes we were given wasn't enough runtime to pace the story along, so some parts seemed a bit rushed. The backstories are lacking and the rest of the crew has hardly any screentime. By the way, for an anime with an unintentional harem, there is virtually zero fanservice, which was a welcome surprise. It'll have you back for more once you get used to the cgi animation, so at least try it out up to episode four, then post a review. Thanks Glass Reflection! :D
Steins;Gate 0 was one hell of an experience for me. I did a review on it right after I finished it typed up on my freaking phone. That's how strongly I felt about it
From a random guy who does not engage in the comment section of your videos very often (if ever), I just want to say I think your videos are very well done and I enjoy them a lot. That's it, c-ya
The steins gate 0 anime is highly likely to come out next spring season 2018. The current rerun in japan will likely transfer over to the new steins gate 0 anime towards the end..
Well... Now that you've taken the first step into it, there's gonna probably be a flood of requests now so MIGHT AS WELL THROW MY HAT IN THERE.... Now that you've done one VN series style review, and seeing as there are others out there like Steins Gate (Yes I know Clannad and School Day's are one as well, same with the Fate Series but this is like... an almost sorta game review at this point.) Will there be a time when you check out say... Dangan Ronpa and compare it to the game? If so would you do what you sorta did here and just give a brief summary of the game while comparing to the Anime and just lump all of the games and Anime into one review? I'd imagine that would be way too much for a 10-15 minute video but... idk, That's just me spitballing on my own thought.
I haven't watched the anime, but the game wasn't so great as everyone say to me. Gameplaywise was really good, but I couldn't really care for any of the characters.
A great video about a great anime. Great job, as always! Although I have to disagree with your opinion on the film. Maybe it's that I'm one of those really hardcore fans, but the idea of spending more time with those characters, having Kurisu as the main lead and the last ten minutes of the film (especially a certain scene, the "story of the mad scientist Hououin Kyouma") made it a real treat. But that's just me. Anyway, now we have to wait for Zero or play the game I guess.
>Steam No that's the original, S;G 0 VN is only available on PS4 and PS Vita, but you can play S;G 0 on PC with a patch: sonome.dareno.me/projects/sg0.html

Tl;dr
You haven't digested the VN properly.
I was waiting MONTHS to watch this video with no spoilers! =)
Now it's very relevant.
source on this? I haven't seen any announcements for this
A new trailer was released stating a release date in April, as part of the spring 2018 season:

Congratulations. This is me a person from the future telling you that the first episode will air on april 11 2018. Have fun
Our boi has a time machine and Reading Steiner. He knew.
Welp, it came out...
You just Had to use the ending song from episode 23 of s;g0. I literally cannot listen to that thing without crying my eyes out. I miss this show so much and I literally finished it today
In my opinion steins gate 0 introduced us to a very key element that steins gate was missing..

Best part of steins gate 0
[Still waiting for the Made in Abyss review... now that a sequel is announced...]
I value your opinion highly, so I need someone to validate my love for it... :D
Wormy pretty sure no one knows if it's a season 2 or an ova. Unless we received some new information.
I am pretty sure they confirmed for it to be season 2 but i'm not sure
@ToastXD read that again lad
Wormy you don't need to rely on other people's shit taste.
That's why I said 'sequel'. That's at least a broader term than S2. I personally hope it's a movie or feature-length OVA...
A vn review by Arkada? Holy cow!!
(I can't wait for the Leskimemes.)

LINTHALO WHERE IS MY JAPANESE SHAMANGIRL
You have some really cute GFS Linthalo
Nice to see this sort of videos. Rarely see any anime youtubers doing proper reviews on visual novels considering it's a decent source/medium in anime culture
Svenhent maybe heard of Belmakor19? Try him out. He doesn't do it perfectly but he gets the job done.
Must review the anime once it's complete. I just saw episode 1 yesterday, and I can't wait for your review.
Can't get the hate about the movie.. I really like it, just like the original and 0 :)
i thought the movie was the coolest, ending. he got back to Steins;Gate and Kurisu helped him stay there. poetic
same
The hate was that the story the movie told was literally contradictory and repetitive and (he said it above) unoriginal.
The movie has drunk Kurisu. That makes it worth existing XD
I'm still waiting for the anime adaptation. I can't betray my boy J. Michael Tatum.
Steins;Gate 0 is a Masterpiece in my opinion. Though i'm really scared how they are going to adapt it in the anime due to how the VN is structured.
Hello guys, I'm a Madu Scientistu & I speak inglisu
MAAAAD SCIENTIST! CHAOS! INVADE!
Celeb-17!
I don't agree that you shouldn't watch the movie unless you're a hardcore fan. It may not be quite as amazing as the main series, but it was still a fantastic movie in my opinion that anyone who liked Steins;Gate should watch.
Emre S. Agreed. An unnecesary film does not make a bad film.
Yea but the movie sadly makes no sense, so even if you watch it remember it is not canon and the events that happen in the movie never take place in real Steins Gate.
@@Snoo29293 why is it not cannon?
@@Mabrekss because it was not made by the creators of steins gate, and it contradicts a lot of time travel rules that exist in the real serie.
Waiting for your ongoing review! I just couldnt wait for more episodes and just started playing VN. Already past 20 h of gameplay and first ending finished :D
Fuck I'm late to my own party.
I’ll remind you before it happens!
*At **8:33**, I can't get over the fact: how perfectly the rotation of the ring synchronised with the beat of the music*
That's all well and awesome, but you forgot to mention the most important part:
*Maho best girl ♥*
Steins;Gate is re-airing in Japan since October, so I'm pretty sure SG0 will begin airing when it ends, which should probably be in Spring 2018.
The ost on steins;gate 0 is MESSENGER ... get it ? He's just a messenger .. sending a message to the past
Nice! Especially that "Messenger from Zero"..
Nervein Z heheh, in the first VN, where Okabe starts repeating the same days (and goes biking with his friends) the ost name is CYCLE. That's brilliant.
@Jey, you mean... the Suzuha ending?!??!
Alnel Vincent Alico yup, AKA best ending
The Steins;Gate franchise never fails to amaze me. The more you look into it, the more intelligent things you discover within it.
*watches this after finishing Steins;Gate 0 VN and just as its anime adaption comes out* its just too perfect, what a time to be alive.
You should totally make a Steins;Gate Zero anime review because Oh My God its so good!!
i really hope that he make a review of the anime , i really want to know what he thinks about it
Dude, I am tearing up just watching the review.
[ There were also a lot of other moments I love, but let's leave it at that and let Okabe take the limelight. ;) ]
bro i have a doubt that is kurisu came back in steins gate 0 ending or not?
well done! it's awesome to see that this great franchise is not dead and your narrative was great!
That's all the info we have, no release date for god so long when S;G 0 English released like more than a year ago.
glad to hear they did that so perfectly!
Thanks Arkada :3 Always trustworthy reviewer
YOU'VE GOTTA POST A REVIEW OF THE ANIME
Watched Steins gate 0, it was released spring 2018. It brought what we all expected and more
Can you please review Oregairu Season 2 next? I would love to hear you opinion on it as it is one of the best drama anime i have watched.
yesssssss
i am still waiting 2
He allready did i think
people have been waiting....
for a long time....
Brandon Apat Haven't we all?
As much as I absolutely loved that series, that huge cliffhanger at the end is still killing me to this day, and a third season is very unlikely from what I've heard...
Still though, I don't regret watching it one bit.
Thanks for making this video and saying spoilers... the last 7 days had me binge through the show, and I loved it.
STEINS GATE..best ever thing I have ever watched😍😍😍
Ohhhh...been holding out for the anime for so long (afraid to play the VN because I want to watch before I play). So happy you released a video on this and I can't wait to watch!!
A game which is a sequel and a prequel for the same thing at the same time.
Perfection.
It may be a sequel in that it happens after the original but before its true ending.
It may be a prequel in that some of the important events in its story happen in order for some points in the original to happen.
having played through, and getting every ending for Steins;Gate ø, i can say that this review is very accurate. any fan of the series that hasn't played this yet should definitely play it. it's the kind of story where the various ending routes have such vast differences to them, that i think that an anime adaptation will have a hard time conveying the story well
I'm glad I waited until after the anime for 0 ended to watch this video
As soon as you started laying out the plot for Zero, I may or may not have yelled "YES!" at my computer screen.
I cannot wait to play this, and I don't know how I only just found out about it now.
The lesson here kids, Don't fuck with time it will fuck you up.
wow your editing skills have gone up. Very well put together analysis and video!
The anime was just announced for April 2018, 4 months from now. So thats unfortunate timing Arkada lol
So basically its
Steins Gate: Rogue One
Or rogue zero
Point is its a presequel used to explain a deus ex machina plot macguffin
Episode 1 was just released today. It did not disappoint!
Tomorrow. S;G 0 will start.
As someone that preordered 0 and platinumed the thing within two days of getting it, I can firmly say that I friggen loved it.
Steins gate 0 anime has finished.... so guys now you can watch it.
Steins;Gate 0 was one hell of an experience for me. I did a review on it right after I finished it typed up on my freaking phone. That's how strongly I felt about it

I love Steins;Gate! Good video 👍
The song at the end of deja Vu tho!
From a random guy who does not engage in the comment section of your videos very often (if ever), I just want to say I think your videos are very well done and I enjoy them a lot. That's it, c-ya
Holy Cow!
The steins gate 0 anime is highly likely to come out next spring season 2018. The current rerun in japan will likely transfer over to the new steins gate 0 anime towards the end..
I 100%'d this game. Never have enjoyed a VN more.
Thank you very much for the warming in part 3
Ok now I watched it, lets continue xD
Ahhh! Now I want to play it again and go in the cycle of tears and laughs once again!
Now to fill up my heart again with Maho!
Anime's over now boys. It was a decent run.
Do not forget about episode 24b (the S;G_0 OVA).
-> Plus the (still not announced) CROSSOVER MOVIE ^_ ^
@@adolfodef seriously a movie! Yeah yyeeeaaaaaddshhhhhhhs
i wonder if arkada is going to do a review of the anime
This is a D-mail from the future to announce that more Steins Gate is coming. El Psy Congroo.
@@kuroboshiron when bro?
Great vid my guy! Thanks for this
When the review of anime coming?
A great video about a great anime. Great job, as always! Although I have to disagree with your opinion on the film. Maybe it's that I'm one of those really hardcore fans, but the idea of spending more time with those characters, having Kurisu as the main lead and the last ten minutes of the film (especially a certain scene, the "story of the mad scientist Hououin Kyouma") made it a real treat. But that's just me. Anyway, now we have to wait for Zero or play the game I guess.
Can someone tell me where i can buy an english VN version Of Steins;Gate 0?
Acidcoast
On Steam I think, and on the PlayStation store. That's where I've seen it on.
