  • ** MAKE SURE TO WATCH THE VIDEO UPDATE ** Regarding A Very Important First Step - Dishwasher Drain Hose Knockout **** This step needs to be don’t prior to hooking up your new disposal.
Who needs a handyman when you've got Chris and Dianna? Replacing a finicky garbage disposal is a piece of cake, folks! If Dianna can handle it, then you can too. So let's give that cranky old disposal the boot and show it who's boss!
Tools and materials you'll need to tackle this job:
⁃ Small Bucket To Catch Any Water
    ⁃ Flashlight
    ⁃ Flat Head Screwdriver
    ⁃ 5/16 Nut Driver
    ⁃ Garbage Disposal Removal Tool
⁃ Replacement Disposal (I recommend staying brand loyal for fit)
⁃ Optional Power Cord (Some models do not come with a power cord) Double Check Your Replacement Includes One.

You forgot to mention to take out the plug for a dishwasher if installing with a dishwasher?

The first thing you are gonna do is unplug the old one or flip the breaker off if it’s hardwired. :)

I’ve had them fall on my arm, that’s a lot of dead weight. Definitely leaves a mark. And the nastiness that comes with it! Thank you Stevie!!

Great point! That is often overlooked. I appreciate you bringing that up, I should have included that in the video.

Now you know why plumbers get surly. Doing yoga with a disposer wedged under the sink ain't fun.
There are ways to prop up the disposer from the cabinet bottom, such as an automotive scissors jack or supporting the disposer from the top of the sink, such as with a pistol grip clamp or an improvised windlass which leave you with two hands to get the disposer coupled to the mounting flange.
