  • When Kalarippayattu meets Kungfu 🤼🫂🎉🎊💯
During last United Kingdom tour under the project for "Professional development and cultural exchange" I got an opportunity to meet Sifu Polwong.
An excellent Shaoilin teacher from Ruabon, Wales who has more than 4 decades experience in Shaolin Kung fu. The 65 year old legend has inspired me with his fitness, personality, and knowledge in the art form with his humility.
The moment Our art producer introduced me as a Kalarippayattu practitioner from India he was so excited to see some of the Kalarippayattu moves and also was ready to discuss about the core values of the both art form and wanted to know more about Kalarippayattu as it is the foundation for Kung-fu.
We could see a lot of inner connection❤️🫂 between these two artforms and also this meeting has helped us to understand the strong foundation of both art form and it's importance in the present World.
We also had a great discussion about
    📌martial arts life,
    📌 career,
    📌struggles of martial teachers,
    📌importance of adapting different training
methods without loosing the core values,
📌 Young generation and their mental and
    physical health and so on...
This 65 years old gentleman has inspired me alot... Lot's of love from team Ayodhana ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much @paallamarts and it's crew for organizing such a beautiful meeting and helping us to spread our ancient culture and values beyond the sea🙂🙂🙂🙏🙏🙏
Lots of love from team Ayodhana ❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏

The people making fun of kung fu here never practiced kalaripayattu themselves. I have seen both kung-fu and kalari practitioners and they are humble and grounded people who respect the art form of fighting and other fighters.
Couch potatos who cant even run 100m without an asthma attack are lecturing in comment sections which is better. Learn to be disciplined and respectful first.

Bodhidharma is the creator of Shaolin Kung Fu. He was an Indian warrior prince who became a Buddhist monk .He was trained in the ways of South Indian martial arts. He introduced the concepts to the Buddhist monks of the Shaolin Temple to improve their fitness. That was the birth of Shaolin Kung Fu. Kung is more refined but the idea behind both these great martial arts is the same.

The deep root of all these is yoga/union, predates by many thousand years. These are blossomed flowers. You have to go way way back to the Himalayas, Sanskrit, shakti, shoonya... Which later became chi/qi. Shunya later became just shun or shoon. Initially it was internal practices but now it's mostly externals. Everything is truly interconnected.

India is the origin of Martial Arts. Yet Martial Arts is much older than known today. It was Agustya Muni that brought Spiritual Culture and Martial Arts to Southern India. Followed much later by Lord Parasuram who lived in Kerala. It was Agustya Muni sitting silently with 6 other suptya rishis with Lord Shiva in the Himalayas. Later making his way down the mountains to Benares. From Benares to Southern India. Lord Parasuram threw his axe into the ocean creating Kerala. Some 108 schools of Culture and Martial Arts were established by Parasuram. - Srimad Bhagavatam..

Shiva was said to have taught Parasurama, the art of Kalaripayattu, which arised itself out of Shiva's war with his Father-In-Law Daksha, one of the Prajapatis or 'Lords Of Creation'. Later, Parasurama taught his 21 disciples the art of Kalaripayattu, and then opened 108 Kalari (school's/gymnasiums) around the Kerala region, Southern Indian state.

Kung fu is a whole umbrella term of martial arts in China.
It has 100s of different styles.
Bodhidharma is known as semi legendary. And he was born around 5th/6th century. Chinese Martial arts date back to around 1000BC. There is hard scientific and archeological evidence for this. No civilization would survive without fighting/Martial arts.

What if Kalaripayattu practioners go to China and train in the Shaolin Temple, and Shaolin Monks go India to learn Kalaripayattu? I have a feeling it has happened a long time ago, and it might happen in our time. The exchange of knowledge between two martial arts.
