      Not saying all music is bad today. Just seemed a lot different back then. I enjoy a lot of the older stuff. I’ve heard some songs by tool and they are damn good. My favorite band is godsmack. Love the stuff they still come out with today. Just seems like today hip hop seems to be the best type of music and I’m not sure why. The older hip hop music is a ton better then what they put out today.

    There were moments during the live show where you were forced to shield your eyes from the binding light emanating from the stage. Pretty sure I put on my sunglasses at some point. You could actually feel the heat from the light in the lower deck of the stadium. And you could literally feel the vibration of some of those extended guitar notes in your teeth. 😬 Sensory overload!

    • @jimo7593
      @jimo7593 3 роки тому +1

      I found out later that PF actually had to inquire about the buildings structural integrity because they pipe in low range sound waves that humans can not hear, but sure could feel. This sound could in essence cause a structure to vibrate enough to pulverize it. Of course they didn't do such, but it was a safety measure they had to validate. I just recall the low end, especially this song shaking my entire body.

    I like that you are listening to Studio versions first before checking out the live versions.
    Besides David Gilmore you also see Richard Wright, original keyboard player. And Nick Mason, original drummer.

      Seems that nobody likes the original versions of that album and drop them in favor of the live, but to me Sorrow is top notch even studio.

  • @jonhenke1504
    @jonhenke1504 3 роки тому +5

    The lighting Engineers name is Mark Brickman. He came in years ago in 1980 during the Wall concert when somebody that was doing the lighting got fired or went to jail or something and he took over in the middle of the show. The group liked what he did on short notice! He's been with them ever since. David Gilmour and Rick Wright for this 94 Pulse concert basically gave him a blank check for the lighting and said " hey Mark why don't you see what you can do"! And here you see the results!
    One interesting thing about David Gilmour I've seen these guys four times, twice in the 70s once in 87 and this pulse tour and I've never seen him in anything but jeans and a t-shirt. He's never needed to be flashy with how he dresses.

    I have been to this concert in the Netherlands Rotterdam 1994. The lightshow was incredible and made the whole experience complete. There was one drawback, they got complaints from Amsterdam Airport Traffic Control (Schiphol). The pilots of arriving and departing flights were distracted by all the lights... lol

    200 ton stage, 200,000 watts of power. 4 sets of 32 wire speakers. some fireworks at the end. same concert "run like hell" they use all 200,000 watts. " comfortably numb" the greatest solo ever.

    Seen them (and him) perform many times. "How intense is this?" you ask. The volume for the intro and outro is so loud that your intestines literally vibrate inside you. It feels like you're being punched in the chest. Their sound system was live was on a different level to any other band's back then. I remember seeing Eric Clapton a few days after seeing these guys and his system sounded like a transistor radio in comparison. Floyd had banks of speakers throughout the venue, 360* surround, and depending on the song the sound would swirl around you, blast you in the face like on this song, or be gentle and smooth for songs like Wish You Were Here. You got your money's worth at their shows.

    So a brief history lesson: this was Floyd's second tour after Roger left the band.
    The reason you're seeing so many other musicians on stage is because Gilmour brought them in to help flesh out the live show performances. Floyd had always brought along back up musicians but often tucked them away out of sight. Dave just decided to stop hiding them lol.
    Floyd's stage shows were legendary even in the early days. The Pulse tour brought out all the big guns. The reason you never see gold lasers anywhere else is they're incredibly expensive.
    Floyd spared no expense.

    This is one of my favorite Pink Floyd songs. It's just so intense! While I wasn't fortunate enough to see this show, I did see David Gilmour on his solo tour in 2016 in Chicago, and he performed this and other Pink Floyd songs. It featured a fantastic light show similar to this. If you look up David Gilmour live from Pompeii 2016, you can check him out at age 70, still putting on a mesmerizing show.

    Hey brotha listen to this closely! The closest thing you can get to seeing a Pink Floyd show is by seeing a tribute band called Brit Floyd- they tour the US quite often and I’ve seen them twice and Roger Waters once in Omaha-Brit Floyd sounds exactly like Floyd musically and the vocals are a pretty good match but for the light show part they bring it just like the real Floyd did. When concerts come back Do Not miss out on that one I promise you won’t regret it!

    Try the "stone roses in your own time. Britains best kept rockband secret. "I am the resurrection" and "this is the one" are good starts. Everyone in the UK knows about the stone roses. Outside of the UK not so much. They were one of the most influential indie rock bands. Influenced Oasis, Cranberries and many more.
    Also, Dave Gilmour along with Ritchie Blackmore (deep purple) are my favourite guitarists. Both awesome.
