Led Zeppelin is the name of the band. Robert Plant on vocals, Jimmy Paige on guitar, John Paul Jones on bass and keys, and the immortal John Bonham on drums.
Imagine, if you will, a 13 year old girl just starting to find her taste in music. One January Saturday she decides to go to her small town downtown to spend Christmas money. She goes into the music store to see what is new and there is this brand new album by a brand new band with a funny name, but that wasn't unusual. She takes the sample copy to the listening area, puts on the headphones and drops the needle. The first chords of "Good Times Bad Times" play and she realizes that her life will never be the same. I bought it immediately, ran home, and played it through as many time as my family would allow me.
@@lesblatnyak5947 This was a small town music store, not a record store. It is where you went for records but also an instrument if you started band, a guitar, piano, organ, etc. and they also did all the repairs and tuning.
@@KezzyBoiiOther bands you should check out are Steely Dan, Yes and Black Sabbath. Different genres of rock music but all good. Many of their tracks were blues covers. I've heard a lot of 'old school' blues guys say that Zep took blues to a level that will never be surpassed. That's a huge compliment
Just imagine; it's January 1969, & a trusted friend tells you about a great new band, & the album they've just released. Nobody else has heard it, but you trust your pal, shell over your dollars & buy it - you take it home, take the disc out of the sleeve & put it onto your turntable. Imagine that the first thing that comes out of your speakers is " Good times bad times ", and then it just continues. Your life is never going to be the same.,
I remember listening to this in a friend's garden shed on a portable record player in 1969. It blew us away. It blew everyone away. There was nothing like it at the time
The Zeppelin air ship that you see burning was the German Hindenburg. It is controversial on how it was destroyed. Accidentally, lightning or sabotage. This happened at Lakehurst, NJ also know as Fort Dix/Maguire Air Force Base. May 6, 1937 Manchester Township, NJ.
Could not for the life of me imagine being a young adult in the mid-late 60s, and going from the Beatles and the Doors to something like this. Led Zeppelin was a force beyond understanding, and they forced the music world to fuckin understand anyway!
John Paul Jones on keys and bass. He is Zeppelin's secret weapon and hid in the background on most songs. Robert Plant (vocals) is also a great harmonica player, later, in LEVEE BREAKS he adds some effects to the harp for one of the heaviest hard rock songs. Jimmy Page on guitar directs and produces the band and owns the rights to the music. John Bonham, like Plant from the Birmingham area (Jimmy and JPJ were London boys) hits heavier than most, and unlike many drummers, is linked to the guitar with many call and response examples throughout their catalog. Jimmy Page was just disbanding the group, the Yardbirds when he started LZ. Their first string of shows in Scandinavia were labeled "The New Yardbirds", before Led Zeppelin, the name, was cemented. Every member of the group does what they do better than most, if not the best ever. A supergroup. (Yardbirds/Band of Joy/BBC studio musicians). Jimmy, in the Yardbirds filled in for his friend JEFF BECK, who left the group, and Jeff had taken over when Eric Clapton left the Yardbirds in 1965.

The amazing story of this band & this album. Lead guitarist & band founder Jimmy Page formerly of The Yardbirds, was the last remaking member of that band. Had some gigs that need to be honored, early August (1968) went in search of band members to fill the band. Jimmy & John Paul Jones bass & keyboards, knew each other from sessions playing. Singer Robert Plant & drummer John Bonham knew each other as young teens & in bands together, but the 2 sets of pairs didn’t know each other. Their first rehearsal was on August 19,1968, the day before Plants 20th birthday, they meshed great the first song. They did the 6 gigs in Scandinavia in September, came back to England & in October recorded this album in 4 days & about 30 hours total. Jimmy Page & manager Peter Grant funded the recording. Grant took the recordings to New York, & Atlantic Records wanted to sign them, without seeing them live. The contract was signed on November 20,1968, where the band had total control over all their music etc. The band toured some in the USA starting December 26,1968, this album wasn’t released until January 12,1969. Critics hated them, but fans loved them, & still do to this day. So in a matter of just a few months, all that was accomplished, sadly the band was done when their friend & drummer John (Bonzo) Bonham passed away on September 25,1980. Every album is amazing, they are the second top selling band, selling over 300 million albums. Only The Beatles have sold more albums, each of these 4 geniuses are The GOAT of their crafts, & together The GODS Of MUSIC! I did leave out a few little details, but this is the main core of this bands start. Enjoy the ride, & we will too, thank you for your reaction.

All of Led Zeppelin's albums are released through Atlantic, Jimmy Page later got an agreement with Atlantic records to form sub music production Swan Songs they recorded a lot of bands. In fact, the very first band signed under the Swan Song label was Bad Company. Jimmy knew they were going to be big.
I was 16 and my friends and i went in on a quarter ounce. We sat in a "boat," smoked the whole thing while listening to klos who was playing Zeppelin A to Z. That night, Led Zeppelin became my favorite band. God is was amazing 🤩

Something I don’t see anyone mentioning. The singer n the drummer were like 18-20. Bass n guitar like mid 20’s. Just to add context. Also, now, this basic classic rock but when this come out, in 1968?!?, this was pretty ground breaking!!
During my senior year in high school (1969-70), I went to see LED ZEPPELIN🔥 in San Antonio. My first concert and my first acid trip!🤪 Best time ever to be young, wild, and a little bit crazy!💯🤗❤️✌️
Dude! I’m 66 + and I actually saw them twice in concert. Once in 74 I was about 14 or 15 at Kezar Stadium in San Francisco and in 79or 80 at Oakland Colosseum. Dude! They delivered! Best band ever to me besides the Beatles.
Another great reaction. As the albums progress, you'll find them leaning less on the blues and more on what was to be the template for all rock music to come
Yes! So glad Zep is on the list as well as Floyd. I found Led Zeppelin when I was 15 in 1990, and Page inspired me to learn to play guitar (I mainly just play rhythm, but have gotten down a few leads and finger pickings with YEARS of practice). My favorite LZ albums are "Physical Graffiti" and "In Through The Out Door", but you are doing right starting with "I" and "II" and following the natural sequence.
25:47. That's the sound of an organ. It plays like a piano but the keys are hooked up to a massive network of pipes that get air blown through them as you press the keys. The pipes span throughout the building its built in. It's an incredibly expensive and time consuming procedure and every organ sounds different because every building its built in is different.
"You Shook Me" and the Allman Brothers "Stormy Monday" are the epitome of contemporary UK and Southern USA blues based rock. Hint: Allman Brothers Live At Fillmore East. Best live album to date.
Led Zeppelin - them not him. Pink Floyd - them not him. Deep Purple - them not him. The Doors - them not him. Name = them in rock. Name = him in hiphop (Snoop Dog, 50 cent) and R&B modern pop (The Weeknd).
A Zeppelin is another name for a blimp. After hearing about the creation of the band, someone suggested they’d go down like a lead balloon aka the band would fail. From that, Jimmy Page came up with the name Led Zeppelin. The photo on the cover of this album is a photo of the Hindenburg blimp/zeppelin catching fire, crashing & killing everyone onboard in New Jersey in 1937.
Yes, Zeppelin was signed by Atlantic records and they released the albums until Jimmy Page started his own label - Swan Song. A lot of the entertainers from the 60's began breaking away from the studios and labels in the 70's. We see in film with Spielberg, Lucas, etc. The music industry was no different. This is why the 80's seemed so unique. The foot was off the throat of the Artists.
Led Zeppelin were originally "the New Yardbirds." The Yardbirds were the single most influential Rock Band in history. The Yardbirds introduced the world to 3 of the greatest guitar players ever. Eric Clapton Jeff Beck Jimmy Page Jimmy Page is the guitarist in Led Zeppelin. Robert Plant on vocals. John Paul Jones on Bass and Keyboards. And... The terror of John Bonham playing the s#!÷ out of the drums so much that the original recording engineer had to check to make sure his mics weren't busted.
Led Zeppelin is in a class all their own. I listened to them so much in the 70s. I still have my pink Zep cassettes. I realy wish I could have seen them live. The guitarist, Jimmy Page, was a sought after studio musician in his early 20s.
Glad to be the 1000 like. Your triangle content has me almost choking in my morning coffee😂 Led Zeppelin rabbit hole is deep and wide. You’re doing it right too👍🏻 listening to entire albums and not just individual songs. I’m hooked on your channel.
Such a great rabbit hole to dig, I've recently found your channel and it's a pleasure seeing people experiencing things that I've once did. Let me introduce you to led zeppelin, first of all led zeppelin isn't a person it's the band. Second, members are overly talented 4 young man. Robert Plant on vocals and harmonica (also he was 19 while recording this album). Legendary Jimmy Page on guitar, one of the best players of his time and also he produced this album himself. Multi instrumentalist John Paul Jones on keyboards and bass guitar. And finally the legend himself John Bonham, one of the best drummers to walk upon this planet. With his passing in 1980 the group disbanded. But I'm looking forward to your future album reactions. Have fun, take care.
Greatest band in history! Go through each album! THEY NEVER DISAPPOINT!! The eerie parts in Dazed And Confused was Jimmy Page playing the guitar with a violin bow!
Page was one of the guitarists for the Yardbirds, and he played session on many albums for other groups. John Paul Jones was also a session musician, playing bass and keyboards and he was considered a great musician. Page wanted to start a new band, the New Yardbirds, and eventually found Robert Plant in a club in Northern England. Page and Jones were older, 25ish, where Plant was just a teenager. Plant had a friend from his hometown, John Bonham, who is considered the greatest rock drummer in history. An odd piece of trivia is that another great drummer, Kieth Moon, of the Who, was jamming with Page and came up with the name, LEAD Zeppelin. It's a pun on the trope, that the band would "go over like a lead balloon".
Dude, it's really cool to watch you experience these bands that many of us grew up with. Your authentic reaction is priceless! When we listened to this music it was within and around the context of the culture and current events of those days. Keep in mind, most of us where higher than a kite back then! LOL The music in many ways was in protest to a lot of the norms of society at the time. The old guard hated this new music and were very reluctant to let go of their old standards.
LZ was one of those rare bands where each member was an expert on their instrument but when they came together, they worked and they made something special. Btw, the name came from someone saying the band wouldn't work and would go over like a lead zeppelin, which means an airship made of metal.
I love all the weirdness in the last song. I was sitting in my car on a point overlooking a huge TX lake drinking beer and toking it up in 1988 the first time I heard it. I`m a singing drummer & musician so it blew me away.
Led Zeppelin is the name of the band. Jimmy Page on guitar. Robert Plant the songer/harmonica player was actually married to his wife Maureen for many years.
Best point is your analysis of playing full albums! No one else is caught onto that. They don’t understand that records were supposed to be played all the way through and that’s how they were designed from song to song with certain groups..
Back in the 70's when I was a teenager, l was lucky enough to have seen Zeppelin at least 20 times in concert. My top three bands; Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Black Sabbath , Big "Led Head " here ✌️🥰❤️🎶
There are several debut albums that are said to be the best debuts. This one ranks right up there. Boston is another good one. This came out when I was 8 and I am so glad I am old just because of the music I got to grow up with. The rock n roll, the folk and easy listening were all great. Nothing better than Dazed and Confused with a Summer Breeze while riding a Horse with No Name.
Loved them in the 70s, still listen daily..four of the most talented musicians ..a miracle they ended up playing together..saw them in concert, have seen many in my years, #1 best
And just to let you know, Led Zeppelin is the name of the band. Someone may have already said this. But you know, just let you know. Robert Plant vocalist , Jinny Page lead guitar and more backbone of the band, John Paul Jones bassist, keyboards, and John Bonham drums extraordinaire!
They're called "Led Zeppelin" because of a humorous conversation among musicians about a new band's chances of being unsuccessful. The story goes that Keith Moon of The Who and John Entwistle suggested that a band with Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck would be a "lead balloon", an idiom for something that is unpopular or unsuccessful.
This is where vinyl was great, you had liner notes with album covers that could supply a whole bunch of information...including the names of the band members. I hope you jump on in to The Doors next, it's a wild ride but I think you can handle it 😁 I'd also recommend WAR - The World is a Ghetto for a complete album listen through.
Led Zeppelin is the name of the band. Robert Plant on vocals, Jimmy Paige on guitar, John Paul Jones on bass and keys, and the immortal John Bonham on drums.

I'm so jealous!!! I was in highschool, ironing my pants to go buy tickets when I heard Bonham died on the radio. I sat down and sobbed.
The 70s when I was a teen was the best time of my life!
@@Maralyssasame...I was going to that concert too! Were you in Chicago by any chance?
@juliemanarin4127 no, Long Beach, California
Sounds awesome
On Dazed and Confused, Jimmy Page used a bow like a cello bow on the guitar. You will know what part he did that, next time you listen.
How lucky was I 🤩
Got to see Zeppelin 2 times, many long years ago, both in Philly
BEYOND EXCITING
🔥 💥 🔥
THANKS KEZZY ❣️
I only saw them once.
😭 I'm so jealous!!!
But so happy for you!
Love it!
@@marymargaretmoore9034one more than me! 😢
Kezzy, you are so fun to watch and listen with. Have loved Zeppelin since 69. So glad you are doing the first two albums!
Thanks for listening. And, yes, listen to Zep II. It’s even better.
A Zeppelin is a Airship they used at war ! on the cover you see one on fire that crashed !
Man, that is the gospel of rock and roll right there
Used before the war for passengers up until this horrific accident.
The Hindenburg disaster.
Dude! I’m 66 + and I actually saw them twice in concert. Once in 74 I was about 14 or 15 at Kezar Stadium in San Francisco and in 79or 80 at Oakland Colosseum. Dude! They delivered!
Best band ever to me besides the Beatles.
Welcome aboard 😁✌️🖖 we've been waitin'!!👍
You're on the right path--the road to the glory of Led Zeppelin! Very few bands have their sustained quality AND variety!
"You Shook Me" and the Allman Brothers "Stormy Monday" are the epitome of contemporary UK and Southern USA blues based rock. Hint: Allman Brothers Live At Fillmore East. Best live album to date.
I remember when this came out. Changed the way I thought about the blues. Cheers....
18 when this dropped. Mind blowing.
I saw Zeppelin at Knebworth in 1979, which was sadly their last gig as the original Zep as Bonham died shortly after that. The Goats.
Led Zeppelin - them not him. Pink Floyd - them not him. Deep Purple - them not him. The Doors - them not him. Name = them in rock. Name = him in hiphop (Snoop Dog, 50 cent) and R&B modern pop (The Weeknd).
Jethro Tull - them not him. Might as well get that one out of the way.
I think you’d really dig The Rolling Stones. Very funky, soulful rock and roll band. ‘Sticky fingers’ would be my personal favorite.
I think it was actually THE WHO'S drummer Keith Moon that suggested that name!!
A little history with your rock and roll. Can't beat it!!
Eric Clapton
Jeff Beck
Jimmy Page
Jimmy Page is the guitarist in Led Zeppelin.
Robert Plant on vocals.
John Paul Jones on Bass and Keyboards.
And...
The terror of John Bonham playing the s#!÷ out of the drums so much that the original recording engineer had to check to make sure his mics weren't busted.
❤❤❤❤this reaction it was 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥nice seeing younger people seeing music that is relevant to me and my age 61.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Robert on harmonica ❤
Led Zeppelin is in a class all their own. I listened to them so much in the 70s. I still have my pink Zep cassettes. I realy wish I could have seen them live. The guitarist, Jimmy Page, was a sought after studio musician in his early 20s.
Bass player John Paul Jones on the keyboards. Singer Robert Plant on harmonica, and Willie Dixon writes that blues masterpiece.
Glad to be the 1000 like. Your triangle content has me almost choking in my morning coffee😂 Led Zeppelin rabbit hole is deep and wide. You’re doing it right too👍🏻 listening to entire albums and not just individual songs. I’m hooked on your channel.
With Led's sister on drums. A great family band! Up until now, everyone thought it was Led's Brother-in-law on drums..
I'm 60, couldn't agree more. And Kezzy is delightful.
I was 18 when they came out, I'm 73 and still get goosebumps when I listen to them!!
Greatest band in history! Go through each album! THEY NEVER DISAPPOINT!! The eerie parts in Dazed And Confused was Jimmy Page playing the guitar with a violin bow!
Robert Plant on harmonica too. And Jimmy Page also on 'evil genius orchestrating all the studio magic'
I'm so happy you get to get high and listen to music like this! I watched you get high listening to Pink Floyd. It was awesome 😎💯
LED ZEPPELIN'S FIRST--PINK FLOYD "MEDDLE" --JETHRO TULL "STAND UP"---SAVOY BROWN "BLUE MATTER"----JIMMY CLIFF "SPECIAL"---ALL CLASSIC LP/CD
So fun watching you experience this album for the first time. You're gonna love this rabbit hole, young man!
Thank you this was great to share with you.
Checkout Deep Purple Jon Lord is right up there with John Paul Jones on the organ R.I.P. Jon Lord. His live solos are great.
Great band! Love Jon, but my favorite is Ian on vocals!!! He did a great job on Jesus Christ Superstar 👏
LZ was one of those rare bands where each member was an expert on their instrument but when they came together, they worked and they made something special.
Btw, the name came from someone saying the band wouldn't work and would go over like a lead zeppelin, which means an airship made of metal.
Kieth Moon from the Who is who said it
I love all the weirdness in the last song.
The keyboard is a Hammond C3 with Leslie speakers that rotate giving the unique sound
My top three bands; Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Black Sabbath , Big "Led Head " here ✌️🥰❤️🎶
Oh man!
Robert Plantvon vocals, Jimmy Page on Guitars, John Paul Jones on Bass, John Bonnhan on drums.
Led Zeppelin and Pinky Floyd were good buddies back in the 70’s. I believe Led met Pinky at studio 54.😎😉
I must admit, tripping to Zeppelin was a blast every time ☮💜
I didn't want to promote drug abuse, just because I did and it was glorious :P
My favorites were window pane and purple haze✌️🥰❤️
Bonham's bass triplets on Good Times Bad Times drums are amazing!
Loved them in the 70s, still listen daily..four of the most talented musicians ..a miracle they ended up playing together..saw them in concert, have seen many in my years, #1 best
The music is Zeppelin's interpretation of the blues. They were fabulous.
One of the best albums of all time ! Wholeheartedly !! So emotional for me. The best of times. Thanks for sharing bro. I so dig it.
Two songs were Willie Dixon covers, and another is very similar to Howlin' Wolf and Albert King. (Blues, of course)
Led is a great guitarist, I used to jam with him back in the day.
Just like Santa Claus! 😂
The British really love Blues and Black American music and built a British rock and metal Dynasty!
The best rock/blues/folk/heavy metal band ever! All 4 members were masters of their craft.
LOVE your reaction... so great to see this music live on!
Ah. Thank you. I was wondering if anyone was going to mention that
Going down like a lead zeppelin...means it would definetly go down well.....🙄
Will be joining you for every and any album you react to. Looking forward to III
Nice! I'm looking forward to this one!
Props bro, on starting at the beginning. I say you keep going. Do their next album, then do the third album, 4th and 5th. Thank me later.
“I really hope that’s Led on the guitar Bro”!
Classic.
Yeah that’s Led alright. Haha
This is where vinyl was great, you had liner notes with album covers that could supply a whole bunch of information...including the names of the band members.
I hope you jump on in to The Doors next, it's a wild ride but I think you can handle it 😁
I'd also recommend WAR - The World is a Ghetto for a complete album listen through.
They said about forming a band and someone said "That will go down like a Lead Zeppelin!" as in a Zeppelin blimp.
