I Am Devastated and Need This Amazing Community's Help

- In this episode, I share a life-changing event that, I don't know how I will get through because I am absolutely devastated and need this amazing community's help.
In September 2023, I made the very scary choice to leave the company I was at and join forces with a friend at their company. I was excited, rejuvenated, and motivated to kick butt and take names. That was 6 months ago the day this video goes live. Unfortunately for me and my family, I was informed 2 days ago that my position had been eliminated and I was being let go. For the first time in my life, I was looking at not having a full-time job to provide for my family. I've never, ever been in this situation previously, and as such, I'm freaking out, terrified, and overall rocked to my core.
I know many people had thought that RoXolid Productions was my full-time job. It hasn't been, not to-date at least, but it is something that we may have to look into making a reality. This is where I need your help, and it isn't overstating the case to say that you can change my family for the better.
We have almost 25,000 subscribers at this point, and I am beyond thankful and appreciative of each and every one of you for watching, sharing, commenting, liking, and otherwise supporting my channel. I understand the economy is terrible right now, we're in an election year and people hold on to their wallets, and overall things are thought everywhere. But with 25K subscribers, if just a fraction joined us as a UA-cam Channel Member or supported us via Patreon, then I never have to work for anyone else ever again! I've always tried to keep the cost of support low, it's only $1.50 to become a channel member and only $1 on Patreon! Like legit, if this community can come together to help us out here, and invest in what we are doing here, it could be life-changing!
I know many will ask "Ok, fine, you have channel memberships, but what are you doing to help yourself?". Good question. Since this happened 72 hours ago I've sent out over 150 resumes to various companies, both local and providing off-site work. I've reached out to former colleagues to see if there are any opportunities there to explore as well. I've launched a new sale on my 3D Printer accessory storefront, bringing items down the the lowest prices I've ever offered them. I'm trying, I'm doing everything I can, and it's not even the start of the week.

I have no words to thank you for your generosity. Thank you.
In January 2019 I was laid off, after working almost 7 years with that company. With a severance that was going to last only 6 weeks. At the time, I had two kids (now I have three): One with almost 5-years old that had special needs, and a 9-months old. It was one of the most terrifying times in my life, but the worse part about it is that (besides my wife) only THREE people out of all my family and friends told me “Don’t worry, we’re here for you.”. I felt completely alone and terrified. However, I put my faith in God that I was going to find a job before I ran out of money, and thankfully I did. I found a job within a month after I was laid off.
The point of my story is that I would like to say that we’re here for you. I’m certain that not only you’ll be able to find a new opportunity, but that you’ll also be able to grow this channel. So it can support you and your family even more. Hang on tight, man, keep doing what you’re doing and be faithful. You got this!

I will pray for you, Gary. I understand. My position was eliminated in July 2022, and at a live of Senior Graphic Designer/Art Director, nobody is hiring in my area and I have been out of work since July 2022. If there is anything I can do... please let me know. I don't know what capacity that could be, but put two brilliant minds together and maybe something great could happen? I don't know. And, I am sorry for your worry right now- I understand.

Gary do not give up. I have been on unemployment once before and it's absolutely a shameful feeling to those who love working. I wanted to thank you for helping me LEAN out my retro gaming set up and for all the reviews and emails back and forth. Joined. Been a subscriber for a while and have always enjoyed your content. Something I came to terms with a long time ago is that it's never a weakness to ask for help, so good on your for doing it when you needed it. It's not much, but I hope the membership chips in enough towards your goal of being independent and financially stable.
I experienced something similar when I faced eviction through no fault of my own and the community came together to help me. Im sure we can do something. I have shared on my discord and will be sharing in my community tab. Stay focussd and stay busy, Job's story has always been an inspiration for me as well.
I have been through both extremes: periods of time in which I really needed UA-cam revenue to pay my rent, and periods of time in which I was totally indifferent to the money generated by UA-cam plus Patreon (that added up to less than 500 dollars anyway). In every instance, you can't forget this: the vast majority of people in your audience are both stupid and malign. As a Christian, you really can't imagine "the darkness of the human heart" and how cruel, stupid and self-serving 95 percent of the people in the audience are: frankly, I hope you're never forced to confront this reality. A contrast: you would literally make more money doing stand up comedy three days per week than uploading to this UA-cam channel three days per week, and I mean that FOR YOU, specifically. But there's a difference: performing live you really SEE the audience.

I was just laid off of my job of 26 years. It’s the only job I have ever had. Thankfully its just my wife and I and our house and cars are paid for. But yes, it’s a horrible nightmare and I don’t really know what to do because I am way too young to retire. But we will all pull through.

While the son of god was hanging from the cross , giving everything he had to the poor, Including his life , I’m sure he was thinking , “there will be a guy one day who will need to grift for money while he has 10s of thousands of dollars in retro collection behind him. That will be the person I look to assist first , not the sick, the people starving and dying and homeless”.

On pandemic I went broke, sell my dream house and restructure my whole life. Now I'm building a new house (smaller) but life is better now, less noise in my life. The advice I give you is have faith everything goes by and search for what you really need.
Sorry to hear this, Gary. I'm not going to give into details here, but I've just run into some unwanted, and unexpected life charges this past few weeks, so I really feel where you are. Stay strong, but never feel like you're alone. That's something I need to work on myself My thoughts will be with you and your family, and I know we'll get through our trials 🙏

It's been a struggle for sure, the depression is real. I've only had 1 in-person interview with a company I'm not too excited about, 4 phone interviews with no follow-up there. This community has been awesome with the support but something needs to change soon.
Sorry to hear that you lost your employment. Most people go through this, I have as well and I know it is tough and scary. One bright thing is that you have your personal projects to help. God will provide, pray about it and you will find a new path. I will add you to my prayer list.
i was laid off december 22nd. and like you i had worked every day in some form or fashion since i was 13 and had 0 time between jobs. Always had a job lined up before leaving. I have been trying to figure out what to do myself. I will have you in my thoughts. You will figure out how to get through this!

My work has been been drastically reduced over the last few years. To be honest like you said it has been purely awful, it has made me question my self worth many many times. I've racked my brain for additional income sources. I've came up with some but you know how it is everything is a process and a lot of days are spinning of my wheels. But like you said I'm still trying... You have my prayers and much love! 🙏🙏🙏

If you've been working consistently since 16, you should have 2 interviews lined up by now
I've had 2 actually, one Wednesday and one this morning. The issue for me is I have 21+years experience in my field but no degree. And many companies won't even look at you without it
@@RoXolid a degree is nice but with a nice portfolio and showing your body of work, it can convince a lot of people to get you hired or that they need you, I've said my turn around times for clients and they're just in amazement. I'm sure you'll get a job again.
It sucks but it happens. You’ll be fine. I’ve had it happen a number of times (down sizing and such) in my life and I’m 55. It seems like the end of the world. It’s not. Last time it happened, I laugh it off. I now have the best job of my life.

Sorry to hear, however you will be able to come back. I will have been affected multiple times over the past several years due to NAFTA. I worked in manufacturing for 30 years and companies just refuse to look past less expensive wages in other countries. That being said it is stressful any time it happens. I will pray for you to land on your feet as soon as possible.

That sucks.. i know. I've been there a couple of times. At some point i only had like 10 bucks a week to eat..
I lost my best friend after he took the 3rd dose of youknowwhat.
I lost contact to my other friends and family because i refuse to take the youknowwhat.
But i never give up. I have a steady job now, 5 digit bank account, i have many consoles and games now worth thousands.
Bought some pure gold and silver.
So again, never give up.

Gary, watch your video, you answered your own question about what to do. Getting laid off was a blessing. Enhance what you refer to as your "only sources of income." Those sources give you a new opportunity to work 100% for yourself... and never get laid off again! 🙏🏻❤️

I’m always amazed about how little protection employees have in the us. Here you can only loose your job per direct if 1 you did something very bad. Or you are in the first month or second month depending of your contract, of your first contract.
I have had it one time in the last week of the first month. We don’t if we want to continue but work hard and we might and on Friday afternoon, nope we fire you.
It sucks for you, hope you find an other job fast. And don’t be ashamed to get the unemployment help. Never be that it doesn’t,t make you any less of an person.
I've been in a bad spot quite a few times in my life, and I never would have made it if some people I barely knew hadn't taken a chance on me.

Hey Gary I hope the best for you whether that is finding another job or making this freelance thing with the channel and the 3d printing and etc become your job or wherever things take you. Your led signs look pretty cool and I am thinking about buying a couple, but just a couple of questions:
1) How long are the usb cables
2) any way you might be able to offer the dimensions in imperial as well as metric? Since a lot of us are Yanks that don’t wanna bust out the ruler to figure how long those millimeters are 😂
I've move most of the lights to using a female USB-C port, so you can use whatever length cable you want. The optional ones are like 3 feet long that I offer.
I guess I can toss the numbers into Google and convert to SAE.
Would it help to design generic useful item files that could be sold through Cults 3D or similar sites?

You really should consider yourself lucky, you have an audience of 25k people you can reach out to in order to ask(beg) for money. Think of all the people in the world in a worse situation then you , that have zero people to reach out to. You should also start by selling all your crap , first and foremost , that crap Simpsons behind you. I don’t know your whole story, but it seems you chose your path, and the decisions you made caused this , not external factors. Lastly , good luck getting a job , the unemployment rate is lower than ever . I've been selling quite a bit of the collection, as well as my creations through my 3D printer website. All avenues are being explored.
The decisions I made, I put faith in someone I considered a friend and was burned. The economy is in the toilet, on top of it being an election year, and people always hold on to their wallets until the election.
The actual unemployment rate is near 10% if you Factor in those who have abandoned the workforce.
I take it from your comments you are opposed to creators having any source of revenue generation from their content. That's fine, no one is forced to support anyone. Also know I put my money where my mouth is, I don't ask without doing myself, as I have been a channel member and Patreon supporter of other creators for years.
@@RoXolid I would venture to say I’m in a Much much worse life situation as you , and I have a channel, and I don’t ask for money when I have 10s of thousands of games behind me , just like you. Instead , I’m giving money away on my channel because others need it more than me. And please don’t make excuses with false unemployment numbers and data to justify your desire to do YT full time. There’s work out there. Lots of it.
@@therexershow Truth be told I don't want to do UA-cam full time. It's too much of a risk with a family, there's no security, no benefits, etc. We already have that in our family with being small business owners running a catering business
That being said the labor participation rate vs unemployment rate are not even close, nor have they been for some time. Those who stop looking are Factored out of the unemployment rate, that's just true.
And if you have a problem with someone monetizing their channel, providing perks such as early access, no ads, t shirts, and discounts on items sold through their websites, that's a you problem. And if that's the case, just don't watch or don't donate, it's that easy.
@@RoXolid there was a much better way for you to handle this then throwing a pity party. You could have simply in a positive way asked for people to sub, watch, and sign up for memberships to support the channel, maybe mentioned you’ve encountered some tough breaks and left it at that. Everyone in this world has problems like these, much worse , have some awareness. Let’s be real , you said if 1/4 of the people signed a membership, you “wouldn’t need to worry about employment”. Also , your issue is more than a few bucks from people; you need a job, not a couple bucks from viewers. Maybe you should have been asking people to help you find employment opportunity. Anyhow , again , once you get a job , I look forward to the video that says people can un membership and un patreon now that you are better off. Keep us informed.

Different people handle things like this in a variety of different ways. And it wasn't a pity party, I was freaking out, and I own that. I think I even admitted that in the video.
I'm going to ask you an honest question and I would appreciate an honest answer. Is there any justification in your mind for people to offer channel memberships or Patreon memberships for being UA-cam content creators? Do you believe it's okay for someone to have content creation, independently, as a career? I look forward to your answers.

Don't waist time and apply for unemployment to get the ball rolling then if necessary go to job services and do whatever you can till you find something permanent. It happens man. I was worried for a minute. You will recover.

Damn brother, I'm obviously seeing some major panic here. I don't know the particulars of your financial situation, but just calm down and stop cycling these thoughts n letting it keep you up at night etc. Get on the lookout for a way to make money, keep doing what you're doing n it'll work out. Look at this channel, not doing bad, imagine if you were not pro active all this time with it and didn't have it, you have some other ways to make money, and there is always regular jobs to make ends meet on top of that. But first and foremost- CALM DOWN.

You have been very unforgiving and judgemental towards others in the past. I have been working since I was 11. I am 62. Hard times come and go. You need to not be begging others for their money, you need to get a job. This economy is booming. Get two part time jobs if needed. . I also have a special needs child and do it solo. Again Stop pandering and go to work.

I sent out over 300 resumes in 5 days. I'm working on it. I also know that my previous searches for jobs have taken years when it was a want, not a need. Now it's become a need. So trust me, I am looking, I'm working very hard at it, I've already had two phone interviews and I have another one tomorrow. And in person interview on the 27th.

I only watched the first few minutes, so forgive me for any mistakes. First off, you shouldn't have kids until at the very least you have enough money to be able to properly support them. But you can't do anything about that at this point, so I guess it doesn't matter anymore.
Bitcoin exists, and you should put in the time and effort to research it until you have the confidence and knowledge to invest in it and handle self-custody without fucking it up. The only two rules I have for you are: 1. Bitcoin only, & 2. Self-custody only. Good luck.
