I can make an Amico in 1 day : 1-Buy 5 000 x 75$ Linux Risc-V SBC (Single Board Computer) 2- Make the mold with a 3D printer 3- Make the plastic shell with the mold 4-Screw the board in a plastic shell 5-Contract 8bitDo to make the controllers. 6- ... 7-Profits!
Ya once the Amico Controller is released people can really just make their own console. I would order a 3D printed Amico Charge station. And just put it next to the Shield running Amico home.
In the 1 in a million chance that they actually even get close to the timeline it'd at least help build up a little glimmer of trust..... I think the timeline (especially IOS, and manufacturing) sounds way too aggressive to be true. You kind of have a point when you asked why they released this time line.... They were better off saying nothing until they had product in hand and THEN announcing dates. That'd build up trust too and has no downside if they miss deadlines.
As comical as all this is, in the end it's so sad. I always wanted an Intellivision back in the day, but we couldn't afford one. I befriended a rich kid so I could play with him (I know, but children are awful anyway) and loved the thing. When word of the Amico first got out, I was so excited - especially with the promised upgrades of titles like Astrosmash and Night Stalker. The initial teasers were enough to get me to lay out $100 and I was damn looking forward to this. About a year or so ago, I started seeing the warning signs on videos across different channels and I reluctantly asked for a deposit refund, figuring I could get one anyway when they would hit stores - even if it wasn't the cool woodgrain one I wanted. And now? It's so sad to see the IP tied up in this. Would I pay for a console to play what looked like simpler, fun games, and especially new versions of beloved classic INTV games? Hell yes. Will I ever get the chance? Probably not.
The Amico was clearly just trying to cash in on easy Android technology and it didn't work, it fell apart completely. I think it's also because it came so late that the same tech is able to basically be made by any consumer if they really want to. After the Ouya, no publisher was going to invest wholly in something like this.
@VEGANVANIA yeah maybe it just really overshot the mark and don't exactly know it's audience too well. That controller though and how light it is, ouch.
@@KeiNova i agree, the controller was actually a pretty big part of the problem. You can get pretty decent wireless controllers for $20-$25, ouya's was crap and super overpriced.
@@SmashJT ouya was just a nicely branded android box. which itself isn't necessarily totally useless, since there's a market for them. however you could buy an android hdmi box already when they were announcing it. sure you had to be in the market to look if you could run an android app easily on a tv without androidx86 to know you could buy a box like that before ouya... if they had just made it as an android box and built a brand around decent android boxes they could've done okay long term, since people still buy them for whatever emulation and mediabox and slideshow and presentation and such uses. INTV didn't even try if it would work out though. you could start getting factory units out like that customized from china for under half a mil if you had the 1.5 years for the back and forth bs with a manufacturer which is the real timesink(I did sw for a company that bought customized tablets out of china to run customized sw, they got them to make a custom dock and such, their sw team sucked though big time). and they would cost 50-100 bucks depending on the soc you use. why the fuck did they even decide on a chip when it literally wouldn't have mattered what chip they use in it though, everything they did was stupid, done by stupid people - only thing they didn't do stupid was paying back themselves the money they loaned to the company.
Clearly they know they’re screwed so they’ll being optimistic as hell about their trajectory. You can’t set somewhere as a destination if it’s impossible to reach for you.
Great Amico Coverage ! I agree the future of the console for this year isn't good. But I think its a good thing overall because this means they have full attention on getting the Amico controller to market. Releasing one new Amico Home game per month seems fair. Your right they haven't released a really good game yet and its a big question do they have one ready to come out soon. Can you imagine they end up releasing a viral game that sells 100 million copies for $20 ? Then what ? Then Tommy was right all along.
It's a good thing that this thing is a dumpster fire because that means they have their full attention on the Amico controller? 🤔 There isn't going to be a viral amico game. I can guarantee you that. No game that is exclusive to Amico will ever go viral. And even if it did, that still wouldn't make Tommy's lies he's told over the years the truth all of a sudden.
@@JaceyMitchell I agree with you the original Amico Console idea wasn't great. Its actually much better running on Android Boxes. Anyone saying they know what games will sell well and what ones won't are actually telling lies. Because nobody knows that. The game doesn't even half to be exclusive to Amico. Even the games ported to it are actually better on a superior device. Like how Wii U games sold like trash. But same games went viral on Switch. What exactly did Tommy say that you think is a lie ? Most of that is spouted out from UA-camrs making clickbait. Trying to put words in his mouth.
@@LelandReview The Amico console is a great idea in that it allows physical media to stay in stores. Going forward this is necessary. Not everyone wants an all digital future!

I love this new era of Smash roasting Amico.
Mark my words they will release a plastic shell if you buy a 2 controller bundle, it will only store and charge your controllers.
Amico foot bath
Ya I would totally buy that. But don't forget the shell needs LED lights :)
They wouldn't release a shell (never will on a mass scale), they'd just send out 3D print files for someone to do it from their own home. 😂

You mean the FTC.
They already were and asked to correct one thing and they did.
They have been and guess what? Everything is okay! 😉
