My favorite thing about this set is the pair of smiles they both have when it ends. Some incredibly dominant stocks back and forth, with everything on the line, and these two are still able to appreciate the joy of playing against each other.
Such an amazing set. Asimo played literally perfectly, but spargo is just so clutch. He's HIM whenever he needs a combo to work just right or time this perfectly. It's also like Ryu's toughest mu. You have to play so perfect and capitalize 100% on the smallest of openings. Asimo fr has that samurai spirit and I'd love to see this set again soon
8:30 - 8:40 perfectly showcases how trash this matchup is for shotos. Cloud just mindlessly spamming his huge unpunishable aerials until one finally hits and he can juggle straight into a kill

"fuck they spelled my name wrong again." its supposed to say あしも which directly translates to Ashimo in romanji, but they put asimo instead and if you notice they even say it correctly too. Agreed. What a dog-crap play style the devs made for retro JRPG man. 80% of his kit is back air, cross slash, and up-b (always out of shield). What’s the point of picking a character like sheik and sweating with timed combos when back air mash does it more effectively and safer?

Same goes for all the focus attacks tanking a hit but Cloud is able to recover from his attacks absurdly fast and either get out of the way or launch another attack. Hate to imagine how this woulda looked if Ryu did not have Hadoken.

That’s how it worked in smash 4 too. Focus blocks 1 hit precisely. The damage based armor was nerfed in Ult, but that has no effect on this situation.
