  • Head to Head dynamic mic sound test of the Shure Sm57 vs Sennheiser e609 vs Behringer SL75c.
Note, recordings made using the same settings, but volume levels adjusted in post-production to level match each mic, as follows -
    Shure SM57: 0db (unity gain)
    Sennheiser e609: -1.4db (so 1.4db louder than the 57)
    Behringer SL75c: -1.2db (so 1.2db louder then the 57)

Hi what is your thought for SL75 sir? Is it good for home recording ? Thanks.

Yes absolutely. It is more mid scooped than a 57, which is nice on lots of things.

I really liked this quick side by side comparison. I’m headed into a tour rehearsal tomorrow and was looking at these 2 mics, wanting to double mic the guitar cabs and figure out how I’m going to treat each mic. Now I can hear and see that I’ll use the 57 more on the cusp of cone and woofer to get more of the high frequency fuzziness and the e609 to capture more body

Hi bud what about mixing SM57 and E609 for live sounding (not for recording) and panning. Would it makes sense?

The trouble with panning guitars live is that anyone stood on one side of the room is not going to hear what's coming out the speakers on the other side. Usually mono is a better option. But these mics would work well together in any capacity.
