Ben Barwick - Blame: Disintegration [Part One]

This was the first Sonicgraph drawn for my piece "Blame: Disintegration."
The song is Blame by Avarice in Audio.
"Blame: Disintegration" was inspired by American composer William Basinski, who recorded a tape loop slowly disintegrating over an hour. I decided to adapt this concept by drawing a Sonicgraph for Blame, and then drawing sonicgraphs for four separate recordings of pencil scratching. The result shows a visual disintegration of the song, as the sound I listened to became more abstracted with each drawing. I’ve been considering performance and endurance artwork for some time, and this experiment showed some interesting forms and conceptual results.
