Ben Barwick - Screen Work V (The Garden; After Bosch)
Video documentation of in-situ installation. 2021.
This digital reinterpretation of Bosch’s seminal triptych shows much the same as its muse in a more current depiction: digital sin. The human species has become so reliant on digital devices that an old, outdated piece of technology is almost an insult to our sensibilities, and a punishment to control.
When new technology fails, it does not matter so much. We expect to replace and repurchase until something better comes along. Once the old devices pass through the hands of those who cannot afford the newer technologies, they become merely monuments in a digital hellscape that we choose to ignore or become offended by.
The tenth commandment in the Bible reads “thou shalt not covet” (Exodus 20:17); perhaps if we did not covet this digital existence, we would be better off in our lives outside the screen.
This is digital sin.

Ben Barwick - Blame: Disintegration [Part One]
Переглядів 234 роки тому
This was the first Sonicgraph drawn for my piece "Blame: Disintegration." The song is Blame by Avarice in Audio. "Blame: Disintegration" was inspired by American composer William Basinski, who recorded a tape loop slowly disintegrating over an hour. I decided to adapt this concept by drawing a Sonicgraph for Blame, and then drawing sonicgraphs for four separate recordings of pencil scratching. ...

BEN BARWICK - Screen Work II: 130.81 (Stillness in C)
Переглядів 1654 роки тому
Ben Barwick 130.81 (Stillness in C), 2020 Digital Video and Audio, 4:35min The audio in this work aims to envelop the viewer in a meditative space, where they can stay still and listen to how the sound interacts and affects the space around them. The video component reflects this; the real-time soundwave of the 130.81Hz hum staying still on the screen, establishing its presence and seemingly pa...

As far as I am aware, this is one of 404.zero's custom arrays. They are a duo of artists that make light and sound installations like this.

Completely hate the people that have the need to walk around with their phone high up destroying the vibe. Keep your phone infront of your face if needed to film and stfu

Yes! Experiential art is to be experienced. Recording for memory is not bad, as long as you experience it first (this was my third loop) and you're up the back, or to the side, or in an appropriate spot that isn't the main viewing area.
