Buddy Holly would be proud of the Beatles for covering his song, he was one of the musicians the Beatles greatly admire!
This song has very few lyrics, leaving the space for the music to shine through, and I just love how the Beatles did the low range harmony in there, and it just gives me chills as John and Paul go from "mmmmm" to "ahhhhhhh" step by step at the fade end of the song.
George plays like a god here, and he triple tracked the guitars, he first double tracked the lead line on his Gretsch Tennesean and another part on his Rickenbacker 12 string guitar, usually highlighting the solo, no wonder why on the original the lead guitar sounds a tad bit chimey. I managed to do the same procedure by double tracking my Les Paul, which serves as a Gretsch Tenny and my Epiphone Casino w/ the mosaic pedal serves as the Rickenbacker 12 string, and it really works!
Finding and editing the background was so difficult, that I have to merge 2 background in order to make this really stand out.
