Lmao the game is still bland grinding trash with no coherent actual plot. There's nothing to do apart from grind for equipment to do more of the same boring shit that you were already doing - so grind to grind faster, or sightsee like a tourist. Combat is still garbage, both in space and on foot. Exploration is meh, most systems are just different colors, and once you see one type of those exotic planets you've seen all of it's type. And Trading is about as useful as the baseline ships are these days. And speaking of ships....
If you're into ships too bad, the ships are randomized and you can't change that. A ship shape and type that you like might be C rated and useless beyond the first system. It's just RNG for stuff that should be in your control. And modding your ship really doesn't matter. Not that it's visually changing something, or that it improves it's performance that well, most of what you need are the auto-recharging stuff and some decent weapons for self defense. Stuff you can get in the first few systems from a new save.
People praising it are the same types that are entertained by walking simulators lol. To me this game never earned redemption because it's still boring grinding for nothing. Call me when it has an actual story, and doesn't try to be abstract cinema with it's pseudo-reality bs.

No micro-transactions. No paid DLC. No paid sequels.
Free Updates (for content, graphics, and seasonal game events).
“But how do they make money.”
    - They made the game accessible on so many platforms. There are optimized ports for PS4/5, Xbox Series S/X, Nintendo Switch, Windows, GamePass, AND Mac and Steamdeck/Linux!
    - They release yearly free “Expeditions” to keep players coming back and checking out updates, while attracting new players (that can often by the game on sale).
    - And #1. No publisher and no stake holders to sell their souls to. They stayed indie and the money they make goes into making more content and improving quality.

I thought it was one of the best farming resource gathering games (I can remember Settler 5 how great that was), and it is hands down the best base building engine. It really lacked an MMO feel to give it the other half. It needed bosses, raids, things to group up for, gear, ships, parts, etc. It lacked more robust NPC world, and shops and economy and quests. I have multiple large scale farming operations, but nothing to spend the gains on that kept me interested past a point. If you could combine NMS, with a WOW style questing, raiding, and maybe a port royal/pirates trading system, omg, that would be THE GAME.

There are some horrors in there. You can find a rare space creature that will fight back if you shoot it in your ship. I remember building a base, minding my business when suddenly I heard something behind me. I turned around to see a giant acid spitting graboid like creature a few feet behind me, just staring at me. About half a minute later I was dead.

No Man Sky went from the most bland game with nothing for no one to a game were it has everything for everyone , wanna chill and explore and unwind after a stressfull day you can do it and the game thrives off that , want to be a star wars like bounty hunter/smuggler/scavenger you can do it , you like base building you can do it , you like playing solo you can do it , you like playing with friends you can do it , they have added so much i cannot even remember at this point and all that in a game less than 20 Gigabytes (18.7 gigs on PC after the update mentioned in the video)

The biggest issue of NMS still stands - it's as deep as a puddle.
It also has similar issues to Starfield, for example the copy pasted buildings on the planets.
There isn't really much to do, and almost every grind feels like a chore very fast.
That doesn't mean that NMS is bad, it also isn't really great.

NMS is the perfect example of being surprised and wowed by how good it looks. No matter realistic a game can get, if it doesn't achieve that sense of "I want to see that" or "I wanna go there and there before I play the game" then imo it doesn't feel fun. Not everything needs to be complicated nor does it need to be perfect, it just needs to make me feel like I want to see it all and take in as much as I can. It's like looking at colours and it just feels mesmerizing, in the same sense in how people use moving spirals to really target your eyes and brain. As someone with ASD, No Man's Sky really just satisfies my desire to consume things I see akin to tickling my brain.
The gameplay loop isn't as fun after a while, but then that just means taking a break and to come back later. No need to force ourselves to play a game

i think one big mistake Starfield made is to have hi-fi graphics but intentionally mundane art direction. Whereas NMS 5.0 went with mid-fi (is that a term? lol) graphics and really well thought out art direction.

Even though I've played some of the previous versions and got the platinum for NMS, the biggest issue that stops me playing it more is that the base gameplay was always the same, point and click to: Shoot, collect resources, mine terrain etc. Everything was point and click with the same tool that it never felt different enough regardless what I was doing to really feel engaged in anything. Similar to how you'd visit vastly different planets but you'd still be collecting the same basic materials in the same way. Hope the "gameplay changes" has something more to it.

Only thing NMS is missing is proper quests, with proper conversations to give more feeling (I personally dont like that alien no sound stuff and no talking). I just realized that this is only part one of this update.I am so excited. I know some people find this game boring but the thing that makes this game so fun for me is that it never forces you into a particular direction. Its freeing to have a game that just lets you do what you want. Sometimes I play the game role-playing as an anthropologist studying Ancient Alien artifacts and languages and other times I just want to be a space pirate. smuggling contraband across the galaxy, destroying trading ships for their cargo.
There is a story but I have played over 100 hours in this game and I appreciate that the cool things about this game aren't just in the story you just see and do interesting things by playing the way you want.
