    I would like to see it run at its maximum with coolant. Seeing it run slow without coolant is great for the first hole, but the second hole should have been at the actual speed to show us what it can truly do.

    As a Toolmaker. We used to take large high speed drills. 1.5 plus inches. Grind them flat relieve the flutes. Drill spring pockets in the die shoes. We would have to put a 3/8 pilot hole in first. The ole radial arm drill. But pretty similar in concept. For holes.

    • @gooblio
      @gooblio 2 роки тому

      Most CNC jobbing shops do the same thing. If you have lots of parts to make maybe I'd buy one of those drills, but most of the time we're making one part.
      Sometimes you gotta improvise. I have reamed holes with a hand drill on models before. 😂 For the heating rod's. 18" deep hole. Weld a rod on the end of a standard reamer. 😂

All of the above have apps and web based wizards where power consumption can be calculated as well as spindle parameters such as speed, gears and torque can be input to determine if your machine is capable of driving the tool/material.

    Sure it has 8 inserts (4 flutes), but it still has two cutting edges in the center of the tool. Considering sfpm is decreased as you get to the center of the cutter, I sounds like you could easily push this tool too hard because you think you have 4 flutes while you actually have 2. Your calculated chip load, based on 4 flutes will be doubled in the center and with less sfpm too. Sounds like a bad idea to me.

      @@barrysetzer seriously you guys are bad to the bone. All we have are Haas machines but we are stepping up to a Doosan Puma lathe daul spindle. I want to get in contact with your guy that runs them. I can't remember his name. Is there anyway to contact him by email ect? I've ran Haas for 20 years but never a Doosan.

      Quick question doe if I may. I live in Racine,wi i love milling n got a Manuel lathe (old school lathe) anyway I’m trying to learn or get more practice on milling I know the basics but need more work. How would I go about completing something like that? I literally fell in love when I first saw a raw casting get created into a gearbox housing and ever since I just can’t get enough of machining.

      Everything in levels, brother! Odds are that if you have a machine that can push this, you're making huge titanium and stainless parts, and when you need to plunge rough a 4 foot wide pocket, that 3-4K won't bother you a bit, as that would eat up twice that in endmills or inserts! Thanks for watching!

    Secondo le punte di quel diametro non servono a nulla. Assorbono un sacco di energia, hanno avanzamenti lentissimi, e per di più bisogna avere macchine gigantesche per gestire quella potenza
