I Ran the 2022 NYC Marathon

- This was my first experience at a World Major Marathon. It was my first time running through all 5 boroughs of NYC in 1 day. This has to be one of the best days to be in New York. The energy you get from the other runners, crowd, and volunteers is unreal. If you have ever thought about being a part of the NYC Marathon, let this be the sigh that you should sign up for the race, volunteer, or cheer on familiy and friends.

I ran my first 5k today, at 307 pounds I finished it in 35 minutes, all thanks to your tips
Good for you! Congratulations. 👍
imagine how much faster your going to run when you are 160lb. 😀
@@dnegel9546 dammm lol
That’s actually very bad ass. Way to go
We all started somewhere. With the right motivation and determination anything is possible.
I got diagnosed with a rare disease last year; my doctors told me I can no longer run. So thank you for posting this video, it felt like I was there running.
thank you for all your excellent documentation of this race. It's nice to relive all the sights and sounds from this race! I think practically all of us missed our time goals but it was such an amazing race, the volunteers were spectacular and NYC is such a running paradise.
Loved your video Matthew! Awesome.... helped me relive the NYC 2022 Marathon experience. You captured the energy f the crowds nicely. I ran the 2022 NYC Marathon as well and it was my first marathon .... the energy of the crowds and the whole vibe has made me want to run it again! Big love from London.
Keep grinding brother! You’re the reason for my motivation to run. Appreciate all the videos!
love the videos and thank you so much for the motivation and inspiration
Energy is infectious! So motivating
Keep up that content coming brother! Thank you.
been looking forward to this
Great energy Matt 🙏🏼 loved the video.
LOVE THE ENERGY!
Love the energy bro!! 🔥 🔥
Love this bro!! Gotta love NYC
I'm happy to see this video it has me a little more excited for this November to run my first NYC marathon.
I just found this video and I love it! I'm running Chicago and NYC this year. This will be my first NY marathon and I'm nervous as hell!!!!
You have inspired me a lot. Please don’t get tired on sharing and posting videos. I joined my 2nd half marathon shirtless and it felt good specially that our weather is very humid.
NYRR has previously said on their website that they prefer male runners not run shirtless. Don't do it. It's not attractive in a big-city marathon.
Well done mate great achievement
Love this
Inspiration bro!! No limits!!
Good video. Interesting to see things from a wave 1 perspective.
You Are awesome Mat
yo i really love your energy along the race hahahahahaha it make me want to take part in a race event!
You motivate me to run more and to compete at-least once (full marathon) in my lifetime.
You musta got lucky at the buses! Caught the 6:45 ferry and didn’t get on a bus till 9:15 place was a gongshow! Still a race/experience that was second to none! 🗽
Haha yeah the shuttle buses from Staten Island were a shitshow.
Yeah, he got on the bus one bus in front of me me and i took the 6:15 ferry, yet he took the 7am ferry?? Side cutter???
@@wgraham2410 He seems like the kind of jerk who would be a side cutter. He is a show-off and arrogant.
Congrats on the finish! Feeling the GoPro issues, I recorded my race in full and had to hold both a hand mount and a power bank 😅
YEEEEE HEEEEE 🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊 good job Matt !!
6:05 if my favorite part of this f'n video. THE ENERGY IS NEXT LEVEL
Love the excitement! Run Revel Big Bear next time!
I am Filipino but loved your South Korean shout-out to the flag at 7:38! :)
🔥🔥🔥
the best
🐐
Come through for the Miami Marathon bro!
This video is 🔥🔥I’m not a runner but after watching this I’m kinda thinking 🤔 “Could I really? Thanks for sharing.
Yes you can!
Im doing a half-marathon next Saturday! My first race ever. Give yourself time to build up your cardio base and get fitted for running shoes. You can do it!!
@@meganchabot how much time have you trained for? Did you follow any programme?
@@Mbthegamer I only gave myself like 8 weeks lol granted I did have a base level of fitness and could do a 5k fine. I typically do 4 runs a week and then one weight lifting day. One run is just basic wasy run (3-4ish miles), a tempo or speed work run, a long run (7-10miles), and then another easy slow run. On weight days I focus core and lower body exercises. I stretch a little everyday but one of my rest days are purely stretch/mobility focused
@@meganchabot thank you. May I ask what's your average time for a full half marathon?
Wow! Nice👍
NYC block party! 🎉
Amazing drinking large coffees before a marathon
Hawks fly together! 😁
Matthew, how did you get an invite to run the NY Marathon? Did you qualified, got in through lottery, or raised money through charity?
Matt when are you gonna run the Blue Ridge Marathon?!
So i never understood the reason for getting to Staten Island so early. I actually stayed in Elizabeth, NJ the night before the race. It was a quick 20 mins Uber to the starting village. I left my hotel at 10:15, got to the starting village at 10:35, stretched and relaxed a little bit and got into my corral at 11, as scheduled, for the 11:30 start time. I loved sleeping in and really enjoyed my breakfast in bed.
You don't understand the race organizers' problem They cannot have ALL 50,000 New York City Marathon runners take the same Staten Island Ferry or Midtown bus. Several thousand runners need to go earlier, several thousand more need to go slightly later, several thousand more just a bit later than that. Otherwise they just cannot get all 50,000 runners out there to the start. Just understand the organization side of a massive race like this.
What happens if there is a traffic accident on the road and your Uber can't get through, or the Uber itself is in an accident or breaks down. So then you miss the start. You need to go earlier if you do the race again next year. Think!
Do you have strava?
Bro you make me want to run a marathon. Also im 15 so is it too young to sign up for one?
Fkn NEW YORK ENERGY! Something different about it! Haha...when it's good it's GREAT!
인싸 교포형이네. 가즈아!!!

See You At The Houston Marathon Would Like To Get Your Autograph On My Medal Hope We Can Make It Happen
Wait, how did you get on the bus before me when I took the 6:15 ferry???!!! 🤔🤔🤔 How come you didn't add that nonsense into your video? I would say based on that, you shouldn't be telling People they can do 2 hours before their start time. Many 1st wave people missed their start times because of the 1-2 hour wait for busses after the ferry
Why you can’t win a marathon when you trained your ass almost everyday
No disrespect but can you say you “ran” it when you walked a lot of the time??
He can because he did run it, he finished and completed it. If he walked the entire thing from mile 1 that would be a different story lol
@@jordycg5818 dunno, I just think the term “run” means run the whole thing, that’s just me tho I guess
How else do you want him to say it ? "I mostly ran but also sometimes walked the new York city marathon" sounds a bit far fetched
@@plaplaplapla how about “completed”??? Ever heard that word before bud? 😂😂
@@garethholt7706 ya it’s just you
Yea, if everyone had your opinion of what time you need to be there, then everyone would be late because everyone would be trying for the same ferry. But keep being a stereotypical influencer only concerned with yourself.
