What about the guy who shows up 5 mins late, but ends up staying later than everybody. Like hours more than everyone. You would be type of boss to throw that employee away for being 5 mins late.

Don't let this person fool you okay. Your time is the most valuable asset. People should appreciate that you even show up in the damn first place. No nobody should be entitled to your time. Your time is the most expensive currency. Once you use it or give it away "YOU WILL GIVE IT BACK EVER AGAIN" What wrong with being selfish? Isn't selfish to expect someone to show up on for you? Who do you think you are? We live in a world where nobody cares respects and appreciate you. Everyone is always thinking about themselves. Nobody is thinking about you. Someone like you who is a millionaire who has a bunch of money. How dare you say it's super selfish. People are late because they understand that their time is way more valuable and that nobody is entitled it. You say that they don't respect themselves. I say that they respect you enough to show up on time for you. Respect is earned not given. You want to people to show up on time, then you need to treat them with the utmost respect and appreciate. You have to understand that. There are people who respect themselves more than they respect you.
It all depends on the situation.
If it's your job, then you have to show damn the respect. Why? because it is your responsibility. You chose to be there, so you have to show up on the time that they set. Why? because are trading your time for money. The whole reason why you're working at the job in the first place is to pay your bills.
Now, if you don't like trading, your time for money. Then it's your responsibility to change that for yourself. You need to start valuing your time more. That means you have to be selfish. You can't be hanging around people who don't add any value to your life. You need to be focused on what you want to create for yourself so that you can buy back your time and build a business.
If it's people you know and respect.
Then you owe it to them to show up on time because you value and respect their time. If it's someone you don't know or don't really respect, then they're not entitled to your time.
Understand that your time is very valuable okay. Nobody is entitled to your time. You only give your time away under the condition that they provide value to you. If they're not providing any value, then you need to remove yourself from them immediately. It will do you more harm then good spending time with people who don't respect your time.

I don't know what world you live in, but yes you trade your work time for money. Schedules should not be looked at like suggestions. This guy is 100% on point. Huge lack of respect showing up late.

@@marnirenee1 Well I value myself and my time. Sure, you are right. Everyone has to trade their time for money in the beginning. At some point you have to start questioning everything. Is trading your time for money worth it?
Working at 9-5 jobs is a counterfeit. You are trading "YOUR TIME" that "YOU WILL NEVER GET BACK AGAIN." For a company that's only willing to pay you $20-$50 an hour.
The whole thing is stupid. Why? because we have been tricked into believing that our time is worth $20 - $50 an hour. When our time is worth so much more. Working 40 years of your life. Only to live freely for 10 - 20 years before you die?
"TIME IS THE MOST EXPENSIVE CURRENCY"
      Business people: TIME IS MONEY
Me: "MONEY BUYS BACK TIME" meaning you are no long trading your time for money. Your trading your money for time. In return get have your freedom.
Understand, when you trading your time for money. You have to go by their rules, because your time doesn't belong to you anymore belongs to the company. Why? because they hired you for the job. You owe it them to show up on time. It's your responsibility to show up on time. If you don't you are most likely going to lose your job and the benefit that come with it.
I agreed from business standpoint. It is selfish to show up late. Especially when everyone else showed up on time.
In reality no is entitled to my time unless I give them access. It's only selfish because they don't get to benefit off of me. In life, it's about putting yourself first. Why? because no care about you. You have to understand that everyone is always thinking for themselves. People are miserable and unhappy with themselves. They love it when you are selfless and they hate it when are selfish. When you are selfish, that's when you become the problem to who benefited from you in the past.
When you work at a job. Nobody really cares about your well-being. To the company you're just a number. They can replace you anytime. If they don't like you, they'll find a way to get rid of you. They can treat you however they want and get away with it. The job will hurt you physically and mentally. The job will take away your time and energy. As an employee, you get tax the most. To barely make enough money to cover all your bills. You're stressed about work all the time.
Do you think it's worth trading your time for money?

Stop there.... The only way a late person effects others is if they let them.... When I run a meeting, I refuse to say "let's give it a few more minutes"... I say " 10 minutes early is on time, in time is late". You always teach people the way you want them to treat you... BTW, no charge for that advice

This advice also works for color blind people and people who stutter.
They should just stop, it's easy.
