How cool is this tiny house. This brings back so many sweet memories. My dad decided he was going to build a 2600 sq foot home on a lake. He was very smart and extremely handy but not a builder. The home was 2 story with 4 bedrooms, 2 baths, 2 car garage with attic and 3 foot crawl space. Each week one of my brothers would help my dad along with 1 brother who stayed the entire time. It was absolutely a gorgeous home when it was all finished with lots of custom extras. Pure genius how he did it. We shared many wonderful memories in our home. My parents have long passed on but the home lives on. Thank you for this amazing video.

I am a first time viewer and absolutely loved watching you build the cute little house together. It is nice seeing two people work together so well. I wish you good health, and a long and happy life together.
@scottalpert3444, same! She did help but I can see why this man is "built like a building" given he practically "built this whole building", he must run on "Energizer batteries!"😄For my critique, I'd ♥to have seen the sunset without the truck in the way, those colors @7:27 & @7:30 were spectacular! The stormy weather @26:12 was great too & the rainbow @34:35! This was so nice but I think it could use some LED lighting they could hook up to whilst occupying it. Maybe get creative and have some "flood lighting" when needed but also some low-level "burning lamp" style sconces for a sort of "camp fire light." It could also use some railing for the sides & front of the porch/the steps especially if you want to stand on the porch, lean on a rail and watch a sunset on one side or admire a rainbow on the other! I'm not sure how often they plan to be in it but even some window boxes with "fake flowers" add character and color. I'm not sure of the year-round weather there but they could maybe even put some perennials in the ground in front of the porch.
@zenithperigee7442 those are a lot of good ideas. We're working so fast all the time even still but once we are near the end and can relax a little we'll take more care to get more scenic shots and get the lighting figured out. I expect we'll be working on projects here at least through spring.
This just came up on my feed. I want to build something like this on my half acre for a night away or for friends to visit. BUT, DANG, you guys are BEASTS. Great work - and all that rain. Thank you. God Bless and stay safe.
Thanks Joey! It is perfect for shorter stays. You might like our other cabin build video if you haven't seen it yet. It's the same size but 2 feet shorter and was about 1/3 the cost. God bless.
Always a "thank you" and working together as a team. It's a beautiful thing to see and the reason that my wife and I have been together nearly 40 years. I subscribed 5 minutes into the first video and I can't wait to see where you go with this. God bless you and thank you.
🙂 congrats on 40 years! We love seeing happy couples that have been together that long. Having common interests and hobbies and goals to work on together is a must I believe. We will have many more videos to come! God bless and have a happy holiday!
I'm British, please and thank you are just a normal way of speaking to each other, friends, family, neighbours or strangers..seems sad that it is noticeable because of its scarcity in other places. ✌🇬🇧
I am so impressed! It might be a tiny cabin but it appears you took no short cuts in quality. You two make a great couple and deserve some kind of award for your workmanship. Additionally, I am impressed how you worked through weather I’ve seen most contractors wait out. Bravo!
Thank you 🙏 Our award is subs lol. No one was going to build it but us so we couldn't wait for the weather or else it would never get done. Thanks for watching 🙂
Also for you naysayers, yes he could have built a mini mansion with a team of contracted workers. But the experience he built with his partner doing this together would out weigh any mansion money could buy.
Yup, when I was drawing it up I kept making it bigger and bigger then I finally decided to go with the smallest possible and figured I'd just use this as my practice cabin to learn how to build a bigger one later. Thanks for watching!
@@drewhoffman1461 what would you need all that space inside for with all that näture outside to enjoy? a The cabin is basically shélter to eat and sleep in.
1) A metal roof and enclosed eves makes this old firefighter very happy, especially in that setting. 2) You get plenty of rain there, I hope you can establish a rain catchment system. 3) This video of a couple working hard together to achieve their shared dream reminds me what I miss most as a single person. I hope you can hold onto each other through life, and never lose interest in one another.
Thank you Anna! We will do a rain catch next year before the rainy season starts, we were surprised at how much we got. And doing this together is what made it great, I don't think either of us would have much interest in doing this if we were alone. We are very fortunate we have each other. We hope you watch more in the future. Happy Holidays!
Смотрю вас из России и хочу сказать, что вы молодцы! Ваша спутница отлично помогает вам в строительстве дома. Таких женщин на самом деле не много. Удачи вам и счастья!
It’s nice to see the attention to detail like getting the cuts right, making sure the waterproof sheet overlaps to OUTSIDE, redoing the stairs up to house, etc. The small points that culminate with a good build. I’ve installed toilets, gypsum board walls, redone bathtub units, but never built a house. Just love watching craftsmen do a job uncompromising because it is so difficult to do things right (especially when a heavy board doesn’t fit right or screw can’t be reached by drill bit). Also kudos to your partner as sometimes it’s not easy being around a person fully committed to a build as it can take over your psyche.
Thanks for a great build. I think what some people are missing is that this was a team project and there's a ton of details for a build even one as modest as this. Thanks again I'll be watching.
Thank you 🙏 yeah we severely underestimated the number of details and steps it would take. This took far far longer than we initially guessed, but we had so much fun doing it together so we don't regret it.
lol yes it is. It’s as solid as the chicken coop I waaaay overbuilt for my daughter 😂. Some men can overdue things but that’s ok we build strong ass shit!!
Seeing all that lightning in the area and being so open & high up on a hill ... maybe installing a lightning rod & ground rod set-up on your gorgeous little cabin might be a good safety measure (especially with a metal roof).⚡
You have the patience of "Job". I really appreciate that you recorded your mistakes with the roof and fixed them. Who hasn't been there? I guess I'm not the only one who has had to replace a ridge board and roof rafters for the very same reasons you experienced. You didn't even appear annoyed but you probably were. But in the end, you and your beautiful partner did a great job! Beautiful scenery and the lightening was horrifying yet incredible! Be safe! Thank you so much for sharing, it was very enjoyable.
Love that you showed yourselves correcting mistakes, misplacing, and making it right like with the overhang😀. Shows that youtubers are human, too. Thanks! Can't wait to see what's next
This communication ist the best and also hopeful in this incredible time.. and show, that the humans are - most - more intelligent that there political „leaders“ are. Thank you also fore the video and building like a Clockmaker ! Respekt from Germany (currently the country fore make plunderage ) 🇩🇪
Humans are the best and politicians are the worst. Thanks for the compliment! We'll have many more videos in the future. Happy New Year and best regards from 🇺🇸
I love this video, not just for the build, but the little "in-between moments"... sitting under the canopy on the foundation in the rain, eating something and tailgating... Great video. It also makes it "look possible" for people without major experience who may want to do this. Thank you. =M=
Thanks and it was our pleasure! Glad you enjoyed it and it definitely is possible for most people, my biggest lesson was that the taller the height the higher the difficulty. Next video of it will be up tomorrow, check it out if you get a chance 🙂
Appreciate the honesty in this video showing your mistakes and fixing as u went, we can all learn from them and for that I’m subscribed! Look forward to seeing more
@murphvmurph948 We will have the inside video as soon as we can. Hopefully you'll come back and watch it. Have a happy holiday and good fortune in 2024!
Great carpentry skills. And, almost more important, good planning. So many times I've seen people building without knowing that doing C before B can cause big problems later. Enjoyed your video! Nice rain breaks, too.
Wow. That was such a great idea and the results are very cool. You are so lucky to have your wife there to do those things with you. As long as she is there you can do any of those things the two of you can come up with. Congratulations. !!!!
1st time viewing your channel. Love the Cabin. It looks to be the perfect size for remote getaways in the great outdoors. Very well constructed, minimal enough yet pure luxury cozy. Yes indeed ...the perfect rainbow under the skies.
Glad you enjoyed. We're making the inside really nice and it's going to be the perfect crash pad when we're playing in the outdoors. Thanks for watching Pamela!
Wow. It is so nice to see a professional tradesperson who really knows what he is doing. You have my respect! And by having that second set of hands sure helps to make it happen. You two are great! What would I have done different you ask? Well perhaps 100 square feet on the bottom level and a little bigger area for the loft. Excellent!
Thank you! And I agree, we thought we could do it in a week and were very wrong. Had we known it was going to take as long as it did we would've made it bigger.
Really enjoyed watching you guys cabin build! A very cute & adorable couple working great together as a team. Hey I want to see more? Maybe videos about the interior design of the cabin? Installing a wood stove video? Can't wait to see more of your tiny & cute little cabin! Amazing views in that area by the way!!
My wife and I watched your video last night and thoroughly enjoyed the build. Well done on a great job both of you. I know it's very difficult to get on with the build and do the filming also. Top marks. Also I love how it looks :)
Glad to hear it and thank you! Ya the filming and editing adds a lot of time but we're going to try and get it finished and videos up as quickly as we can.
We called this our "practice house". We want to build a house/cabin in the future and thought this would be good experience and it definitely wouldn't be this small. Thanks for watching Roger!
That's awesome! We debated the loft over porch idea but ultimately we won't know if we chose right until after we furnish the inside. I wish I could've done this with scrap though.
Have helped friends build small hunting cabins a few times over the years and I tell you that if the cabin is small enough so you can raise a scaffolding and have tarps for the roof and some plastic for the walls it makes a huge difference being able to work shielded from rain and wind. What I miss (or missed seeing) in your cabin is vents and rain gutters. When you get a wood stove you might want to consider one that draws air from the outside instead of pulling it from the room. It makes quite a difference. Also I'm not sure how good it is to have vapor barriers in an unheated cabin, or do you have maintenance heating of some sort when your not there?
We're going to have another video of us building out the inside. We have a wood stove in it and we are going to install a small vent right by the stove.
In this jurisdiction permits aren't needed if under a certain size which this easily falls under. This went over budget, probably $10k in materials. Check out our other build video if you get a chance, it's the same size but 2' shorter and cost about $2500 in materials. Thanks for watching!
Your cabin is absolutely amazing and the two of you working together made it much easier. Your carpentry skills are top notch, you must be in construction for a living ? Noticed lots of rain like here in Florida ( what state are you in ) as the scenery is beautiful with the rain, lightning, rainbows and different lighting in day and night. Maybe solar panels for LED lightning inside and out ??? Would love to see more projects on the cabin, GREAT video and wish it would have lasted much longer ! I'm now a subscriber
Thank you! No but I did construction in high school and college. This is in Utah and it is gorgeous everywhere in that state (and so is FL). We will have a bunch more videos in the future and the next one is tomorrow. Thanks for subscribing 🙏
Awesome, and Utah is beautiful ! We are planning a trip to Moab as a friend has visited there many times and says there is so much to see. Can't wait as his pictures were great. Can't wait for more videos, and have a great day !@@2withnature
I enjoyed every minute of that video while sipping my coffee this morning. That is a beautiful little house, guys. You must be incredibly proud of yourselves. Well done! And thanks for including shots of that thunderstorm; that thing was epic!
I don't know if it would withstand a tornado, but it may be the sturdiest build I have ever seen... That was a lot of work for such a small size! I hope you do a video of finishing up the inside if you plan to insulate and finish it. I think I might have made it a bit larger, and maybe not quite as tall, but it's yours, not mine... 🙃 I was never great with a hammer, so have used SS screws for most every project I have done. I built a 12 by 16 deck with a tin and clear plastic roof and there isn't one nail in it.
That's good to hear. I was worried about it getting crushed under a ton of snow so I beefed it up. It took more money, work and time than I first thought so knowing that now I wish I did make it bigger but oh well. We'll have a video soon of us finishing the inside but we're gonna burn the wood stove a few times before we decide whether or not to insulate it because it might be hot enough without it. That's cool having the deck especially with some clear roofing, we want to do something like that but idk if we will be able to during the winter. We'll see.
I would insulate, then cut the air down at night to keep from having to get up to add wood. On the other hand, you might have to open a window in the loft. Being retired, I watch a lot of remote off grid videos, often log cabins, and more than one started with one small room that turned into a 5 room home over time, and each addition was a new video. Some do outhouses, some composting toilets. One old guy took 30 years on his and there was no reasonable solar when he started, so now all his wiring is exposed and by room. @@2withnature
The stove we're going to put in is basic so you can't fine tune the air as much as with a catalytic stove. But we can always swap and upgrade later if we want. We'll see how it plays out, we're gonna do whatever makes the most sense once we get there.
Well it looked the same as it did in the middle of the video on the inside. We are finishing it right now though and we'll have a video of the inside soon
Loved your video. The one issue that jumps out to me is it looks like you used deck screws for your build. They don't have a very good shear tolerance vs nails or specific construction screws that are meant to bend & not shear.
I didn't know that, but most of the screws we used for framing said they were structurally rated so hopefully we're good. If you don't see any more videos from us in the future you know what happened 🤞
We started finishing the inside after the end of this video. We're doing it right now though and we'll have a video up once it's finished. We hope you come back and watch it!
Also, @bubbawv2 looking into things more you're right about the screws. We're gonna add a bunch of nails from the inside before we close up the walls. Thanks for noting it and telling me. Have a happy holiday!
Brings me back to the days when the wife and I would build things together. Didn't have much of a budget back then, so we used stick frame construction with nails and just varnished shakes instead of cladding. We did a shed this way and it's still holding up well 20 years later. Maybe when we get some more land, we'll build a cabin with more modern techniques. Hope you guys really get to enjoy the place before life gets in the way.
Glad it's still holding up. I expect we'll have to change our cladding in the not too distant future but I hope the rest of it holds up a long time. We've been enjoying it since the day we started. Thanks for watching and I hope you get to do more projects with the wife soon!
I see that both of you put a lot of talent and effort into this build! Your partner may not have been a carpenter, but she put a great deal of can do into this build!

Yup, we're in progress doing that 🙂
@scottalpert3444, same!
God bless.
@@2withnature In the middle of the next video. Keep them coming! Blessings
Great job on the cabin, your wife was very impressive with all the hard work she did. She’s a keeper. Lookin forward to the next video.
Heck ya she is! More coming soon. Thanks for watching.
The thank-yous are what stood out to me. Any couple that can enjoy each other during a building project has the tools to make a relationship last.
I agree
Mansion would be nice though 👍
@@drewhoffman1461 bigger the house the bigger the mess to clean up.
@@drewhoffman1461 what would you need all that space inside for with all that näture outside to enjoy? a
The cabin is basically shélter to eat and sleep in.
I tip my hat to you two people, you both deserve a medal for this work of art. Wow what a beautiful mini cabin house.
Thank you William 🙏 more of it to come
It’s nice to see the attention to detail like getting the cuts right, making sure the waterproof sheet overlaps to OUTSIDE, redoing the stairs up to house, etc.
Thank you. Yeah she's a trooper and she likes learning so we work well together. Thanks for watching!
Good JOB
Thanks
Thanks for a great build.
I think what some people are missing is that this was a team project and there's a ton of details for a build even one as modest as this. Thanks again I'll be watching.
Thank you 🙏 yeah we severely underestimated the number of details and steps it would take. This took far far longer than we initially guessed, but we had so much fun doing it together so we don't regret it.
That has to be the most solid small cabin ever built. It should last a very long time. Amazing job!
Thanks, we certainly hope so! We'll have more videos of us finishing it soon. Thanks for watching 🙂
lol yes it is. It’s as solid as the chicken coop I waaaay overbuilt for my daughter 😂. Some men can overdue things but that’s ok we build strong ass shit!!
That's right. Anytime I ask myself if I should add another stud I add two for good measure lol
What a "COOL" couple and ....such a "COOL" little cottage. Bless you both
Thank you 🙏
Seeing all that lightning in the area and being so open & high up on a hill ... maybe installing a lightning rod & ground rod set-up on your gorgeous little cabin might be a good safety measure (especially with a metal roof).⚡
Yeah we will do something to ground it before the next storm season comes.
You two make a great team. So patient with each other. Enjoy your new home.
Thanks Julie!
Good to see you two get along so well, cause 55 sq.ft. don't leave much room for disagreements. All the best, take care.
lol yup, the cold is a great motivator to get along
You have the patience of "Job". I really appreciate that you recorded your mistakes with the roof and fixed them. Who hasn't been there? I guess I'm not the only one who has had to replace a ridge board and roof rafters for the very same reasons you experienced. You didn't even appear annoyed but you probably were. But in the end, you and your beautiful partner did a great job! Beautiful scenery and the lightening was horrifying yet incredible! Be safe! Thank you so much for sharing, it was very enjoyable.
Thank you! As long as the wife is being patient with me then I have no excuse to be annoyed 🙂 Thanks for watching, we'll have more coming soon
Love that you showed yourselves correcting mistakes, misplacing, and making it right like with the overhang😀. Shows that youtubers are human, too. Thanks! Can't wait to see what's next
Glad you enjoyed it. We have more coming soon, finishing the inside and a few other projects. Thanks for watching!
FINALLY! An impact driver. Just makes life easier. Nice build….screws….never ever coming apart
It really does. I don't know what I was thinking at the beginning. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for showing both the things that worked and the things that needed fixing. It's a sweet little cabin, perfect for a quiet getaway.
Of course, thanks for watching! It is a perfect getaway.
This brought back so many happy memories. Two pulling in the same harness...
Glad it did 🙂

Thanks Don! It means a lot. We're fortunate and we're glad we can share it.
Love it!! Great job !! I noticed a rainbow in the sky after you two went inside the cabin- that means success !! ❤❤❤
Thank you 🙂 that's a great way to see things
I love this video, not just for the build, but the little "in-between moments"... sitting under the canopy on the foundation in the rain, eating something and tailgating...
Great video. It also makes it "look possible" for people without major experience who may want to do this. Thank you.

Glad you enjoyed, thank you for watching!
great work -- would love to see a tour of the inside once it's done!
We definitely will. We're working to get it finished as quickly as possible.
Um, ya. Outside is one thing, but to see inside would've made the video worth watching.

Great carpentry skills. And, almost more important, good planning. So many times I've seen people building without knowing that doing C before B can cause big problems later. Enjoyed your video! Nice rain breaks, too.
Thank you! Another one should be up tomorrow.
Rain catch would be helpful. What an amazing tiny cabin.
Ya if we'd known we would've. We'll probably do one before next year's rain season starts.
Wow. That was such a great idea and the results are very cool. You are so lucky to have your wife there to do those things with you. As long as she is there you can do any of those things the two of you can come up with. Congratulations. !!!!
Thank you! Agreed, I'm the luckiest guy in the world 🙂
Great attention to detail. You two worked well together. Thanks for sharing.
Happy to. Thanks for watching
Thanks for watching Pamela!
the teamwork between both of you is something the western world has lost.. keep inspiring ;)
Thanks! We're just happy to be around each other
I couldn't wait for you guys to finish the roof during this build. So much rain.
Lol I was so desperate to have it on. It rained every single day until the very end. The shorts I was wearing are board shorts.
Think I would have done the roof prior to walls
Ya we should have and we learned that lesson
Excellent craftsmanship. Love the small size Big bang for the buck. Your helper is top shelf
Thank you Chris 🙏
Wonderful! This is what happiness looks like
😊 indeed! Except for the roof, that was frustrating.
Wow so cool for you both to have experienced building it looks great. You certainly know what you are doing, great job.
Thanks so much!
The woman didn't do too much. Seemed to be standing around watching most of the time to be honest.
nice to see such pretty wife helping her hubby on this Projects!

Thanks Chase! We will have a video of us building out the inside as soon as we're done along with us using the cabin and a some hanging out etc.

Nice work guys! I love seeing people building a home together. It may tiny for now, but that can change.
We called this our "practice house". We want to build a house/cabin in the future and thought this would be good experience and it definitely wouldn't be this small. Thanks for watching Roger!
that was a pleasure to watch, and a lot more relaxing for me, than it was for you guys! Well done!
Glad you enjoyed! 🙂
Awesome build! I built an 8x8 cabin all out of scrap material. Mine isn’t as tall, but has a loft over the porch.
That's awesome! We debated the loft over porch idea but ultimately we won't know if we chose right until after we furnish the inside. I wish I could've done this with scrap though.
Excellent build.
Great work!
Thank you very much 🙂

Thanks Allan! We do and it's very fulfilling too. More to come soon.
Came across this randomly. This couple is bad ass! What a awesome build!
Thank you! More to come.
Great Build. Question. Does this build require permits? What was the total cost for materials ? Thank you.
In this jurisdiction permits aren't needed if under a certain size which this easily falls under. This went over budget, probably $10k in materials. Check out our other build video if you get a chance, it's the same size but 2' shorter and cost about $2500 in materials. Thanks for watching!
Great job guys, I really enjoyed watching this 😊
Glad to hear it 🙂 thanks!
Brought back memories of my projects. Incredibly satisfying to watch this - you built it right.
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed.

Our pleasure and glad you enjoyed! The thunderstorms were annoying at the time but now that it's done they're fun to remember.
I was never great with a hammer, so have used SS screws for most every project I have done.
No tornadoes where this cabin is.
@westernman65 thank goodness no
Man you are living my dream.
Yup, mine too. Thanks for the support Sachin!

Thanks Lynne 🙂 This one took us a while. It's in Utah
You've gotta be kidding. DIDN'T GET TO SEE THE INSIDE??? Watched you drive a ton of screws, at least show us the inside too.
Well it looked the same as it did in the middle of the video on the inside. We are finishing it right now though and we'll have a video of the inside soon

use your imagination. haha............i waited to........but, could br anything..................
Skills and teamwork. I am amazed at the painstaking precision. Measure twice .... cut once. Outstanding.
Thank you 🙏 more coming soon!
Is there a way to see the inside complete?
We started finishing the inside after the end of this video. We're doing it right now though and we'll have a video up once it's finished. We hope you come back and watch it!
Also, @bubbawv2 looking into things more you're right about the screws. We're gonna add a bunch of nails from the inside before we close up the walls. Thanks for noting it and telling me. Have a happy holiday!
Framing nail gun will be worth its weight in gold!
Makes no sense to build a cabin so effing small.
