This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you. I write out what you might term as lead sheets for Fiddle/Dulcimer music. There's usually only 32 bars divided into 2 parts, many times, 8 bars repeated. Since the music in recent years, ends up on a tablet, each tune is on it's own page and the closer the staff spacing (within reason) the easier it is to read in landscape making the music nice and big for aging eyes🤨
Thank you. All I needed to know is: Format - Style - Page - Max System Distance. I play Irish music and fiddle tunes, and usually we do this in sets of 3 tunes, which all need to fit on one page.
Hmm, actually that setting won't have any impact on how many tunes fit per page. It's the *maximum* system distance, but MuseScore Studio automatically reduces system distance as needed to fit more and more music. So even if a single tune looks like it is taking up too much room when it is the only thing on the page, as soon as you add more systems, the gaps automatically start to close to make more room. For more info, be sure to read the page formatting chapter of the Handbook, and/or or see the corresponding section of my online course Mastering MuseScore 4 at community.outsideshore.com/c/musescore4
great tutorial - You mention that elsewhere you describe in detail all the options in the Format - style - page dialogue - I can't find any video anywhere - would be really useful
I describe everything in that dialog as well as everything in the entire program in my online course, Mastering MuseScore 4. See masteringmusescore.com for details
Thanks, but all I wanted to learn was Format - Style - Page - Max System Distance. You would get more likes if you just went and answered the question directly. That being said, thanks to you and all others for helping us out and saving time....
I’m glad that particular section of the video was helpful to you. However, every case is different, and in most of them, that is *not* a setting you’d want to mess with. So it’s important to explain what the different options are and when to use each. That way it answers lots of people’s questions and doesn’t only handle your specific case.
It's not clear what you mean - to save your score, use File / Save or the shortcut Ctrl+S, and the spacing is part of that. If you have further questions, please ask for help on the support forum at musescore.org, and be sure to attach your score and describe what you are trying to do in more detail. Then we can understand and assist better.
I do try to be complete in my explanations to be sure I'm covering all the various questions people might have that led to the video in the first place. That does mean sometimes they will include information not directly relevant to your specific use case. Hopefully you can appreciate that different people have different questions, and there is value in making a video useful to as many people as possible!
@@ThomasAaronCherian there is no close button, just OK and Cancel. If you mean the “X” that may appear k. The dialog title bar, that’s the equivalent of Cancel, not OK. You need to click OK after changing any setting (in any dialog, in any program). If you have trouble seeing the OK button, move or resize the dialog.

He means after adjusting the system distance when you press close the system distance is not being saved
3:45 of how NOT to do it. Skip to get the actual answer.
👍
This is example of an annoying and over complicated explanation.
