Had to come back to this one today! So many gems! 👏🏽👏🏽
Yay!!! Thank you! 🥰❤️
It's hard to see photos when you put two or three together on the same slide. One photo per slide is much easier to see. Excellent tips! Thank you.
YES!
Yes, I too agree on both counts!! :)
Okay thank you for the feed back, I'll keep this in mind for our next video ❤
Totally agree!
Also, the transition is so quick I can't focus on anything.
My favorite UA-cam designer teacher 👍🏼✨💖💖💖💖💖
Using a dining banquette gave me a much more open living area!
Us too!! We have one in our kitchen and I love it ❤️ So cozy and welcoming
Yes! I used a long high-backed bench at my dining table (not built-in) and because it doesn’t get pulled out, it saved lots of space. Super video, eager for more of your design work!
Great Video!. I have always wanted a Murphy bed in one of our guest rooms. Your pics made me realize it doesn't have to look so Murphy bedish.
Murphy beds are so fun!
Great advice and video!. My table is big, but a family hand-down thing but it looks good. And I don't keep a tv in my living room.
Love that ❤A big table can look gorgeous in smaller spaces too!
Absolutely....
Clarity a must...
We get what you want to convey... At a glance...
Thanks😊😎
Very informative and interesting video with some new ideas rather than the usual we see on UA-cam everytime. The examples makes it more relatable
I’m glad you enjoyed the video, thanks so much for watching!
Agreed ❤❤
My first introduction to your channel- fabulous!
Thank you!
First timer, here. I like how concise you are and the examples you provide. Nicely done.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
That counter within the kitchen counter....so nice and practical for a small kitchen/dining room
I couldn’t agree more! Thanks for watching ❤️
I love your tip to use larger artwork, larger rugs, and appliance covers. Thanks so much! Be well!
I’m so glad you liked the video!!
Excellent. Really liked the photos you provided, so we could see what you meant and several options even. Sometimes the pictures blurred into each other. Maybe a dividing line between several pictures will help?
Thank you for this wonderful list. Since I'm on the lookout for another house, I keep this in my folder for tips for small houses. So I find it back easily. Now, I'm going to watch it again to train my mind to retain as many as possible!
Thanks for watching and thanks for your feedback! ❤️❤️
Counter acting our tiny, low ceilinged, cottage living room with several of these tips.
* Moving and centering a window, and adding built ins on either side, to create symmetry.
* Keeping colours light.
* Getting a larger rug.
* Editing our stuff for more airiness.
Ohhh the symmetry will do WONDERS! All such great cozy space solutions🤎🤎
Verticals tile placement and molding was a new one. Nice tight summary of many methods.
Thank you for sharing. Well explained. I enjoy watching your decorations 🌹
Thank you so much!!
This was very well done! I liked all of the photos to explain what you were talking about. Yes, i will be trying them in my apt this weekend. Thankx Ashley 😊
Awesome! Thank you!
I love the vertical tile idea. I will use that in my tiny kitchen. Thanks 🙏🏽
I don’t like book shelf’s in a home unless it’s huge, and mass collection of things for me is a no no less is more for me, it’s just junk, but thank you for your input❤
So happy to hear you say to keep the dining table small! Its only 3 of us in our NYC condo and i have a 38". Always wanted to go bigger but now ill stay there! TY!!
Yes!!! I love it! No reason to eat up precious floor space with a giant table. BTW my daughter is moving to NYC in November! ❤️❤️
My favorite is the use of pocket doors in small spaces. Great job relating the information for small spaces. I love your channel.
I love that one too!! Thanks for watching! 🤎
How well does a pocket door behave in terms of sound proofing and smell blocking?
Would love a video on finding large scale artwork.
That’s a great suggestion!! Thanks so much, and thank you for watching!
Ashley, these are all good reminders. My two favorites are to use big pieces of art instead of multiple smaller ones and to decorate my small central hallway more completely. I have a small chest of drawers I think I'm going to move there just under a wall niche that already showcases a beautiful painting I have. Thank you! Your videos are so informative. and useful.
Thank you so much for watching!! I love the idea of moving a small chest into your hallway, every inch counts, and it sounds like making that space more functional would be an amazing idea! ❤️❤️
@@ashleychilders I love the decoration in the background of your video. Can you please link where to get these nice things like table lamp and this nice big branch with leaves? Or can you name the things so that it can be searched for?
Large art and big rugs! ❤
Yes!!
Great tips for my very small home!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!!❤️
Great one ! My all time fav is baskets with lids. I hv seen ppl throw rugs on sofas, just for fashion even in humid climates! If its a personal choice to use while lounging, it can be kept away in closed baskets/ decorative boxes ❤
Perfect, thankyou, I shall try these tips when I move into my new little cottage, you are the greatest xx
I love your white cabinet. My taste❤
Great ideas! Thank you!
Fantastic interior advice! Thank you for sharing ❤
So many grear ideas. Thank you 🙏
How fun! Loved the multi use furniture it was a clever suggestion- great photos!
Thank you!!! That’s one of my faves!

@ashleychilders I am in the process of renovating my house not able to decide on the laminate combinations .can u pls make a video on choosing laminate combinations for a cohesive look
Thks
fantastic ideas. Cohesive neutral palette.
❤
Excellent! Always enjoy your posts! Thank you.
Thank you so much for watching!
Love the tip on big art. Counterintuitive at first but then makes total sense.
Not a fan of pocket doors though. Love them design-wise but I can't stop thinking about the lizards and other crawlies hiding in that unreachable space...
Oh my! I’ve never thought about pocket doors that way 😂 now it will be on my mind for sure! Glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching!
Loved the video and all the wonderful ideas you shared! Makes me think and my head is spinning on what changes I can make! Love your videos!😍
Thank you so much! I appreciate your support ❤
Fabulous tips, Ashley, thank you!
Thank YOU! ❤
Thank you for sharing this video
Thank you for watching! ❤
Beautiful examples. I would love to achieve this.
❤❤❤
Great video with fantastic tips.
Thank you so much ❤
Thank you! I love the sconce idea instead of floor lamps. I was soon to buy 2 accent chairs and 2 floor lamps and now I’m rethinking 🙂 Although, I’ll have to commit to where to place the sconces and the floor lamps may have made me feel more comfortable that I could move them around
Floor lamps are great too!! If you have the floor space then go for it! I love adding floor lamps when possible, they’re so charming in my opinion.
Inspired ❤
Thank you for watching!!
Great tips - thank you.
Do you have any suggestions on where to buy large scale art work?
My favorite video of all so many beautiful images 😍
Thank you!!
I liked all your ideas
Thank you!
Ashley, I love your style. I looked online to see if you had any decorating books and couldn’t find any. PLEEEEASE do a book!!!!! I’ll be first in line to purchase!!
Awe, thank you!!! That’s the sweetest thing EVER!! I’m starting to work on one! 🥰🥰
@@ashleychilders Ashley, I’m so thrilled reading your reply. That’s FANTASTIC!! Please keep us posted😁🤩
Perfect timing! I just moved into a small townhouse only two weeks ago, and so far I’m on track. I just commissioned an artist to work on a large piece for my living room and one for my bedroom. I’m on the hunt for the perfect area rugs for both rooms as well, and decided to go large. I also love the idea of having dual purpose furniture. I’ll be looking for a steamer trunk that might serve as both a coffee table and storage space. Not to mention serve as an attractive conversation piece as well. Thank you for such a great video. ❤️
Oh I LOVE the steamer trunk/coffee table idea! I’m so happy you found the video helpful, congrats on the new townhouse ❤️❤️
I tried the steamer trunk and didn't like it because it wasn't raised off the floor. You need space for your feet to slide under. Hitting that hard surface over and over is no fun.
I just discovered you, love your taste!
Ashley, is that wallpaper behind you that you framed? It's gorgeous. Please share details.
I loved sharing my top 20 luxury design tips for small spaces! What tips are your favorite?? I hope this video gets you inspired to make the most of your small spaces🤎🤎
I love the use of pocket doors,...I'm not sure why they aren't used more, they make sense, especially in smaller bathrooms, etc.
I don't like not using floor lamps, ...there's a place for wall sconce lights, ...but itvlimits your " re- arranging your room " ...same with the " wall mounted nightstands, etc. Ugggh. No options to rearrange ones space if you are tired of the layout.
Yes, pocket doors are fabulous! And I totally get what you mean about not getting to rearrange with a wall sconce 🤎
@ashleychilders ....thank you, for your kind reply... :) I'm just so ' Old School ", about some things , lol. ..like lighting, moving ones furniture around , etc. Lol.
Wisdom, thanks
Thanks for watching!!
Wow, can you give us details about the mural/paintings behind you?
Great interior tips! I sent a link of your video to my 26 year old daughter. She also will love your style and is always looking to upgrade her place.
Very good video. Subscribed! I’d love to hide my tv but not found the right way yet as built in doesn’t work in my space.
Thank you! I have found some very cool + innovative inspiration images for hiding your TV on Pinterest, so definitely search there ❤
Wonderful tips ! Please tell me where you got your dress or the brand. it is beautiful! Thank you! Kathy
What is that side table, please? It’s adorable 😊
Love all these great tips! Can I ask where you bought your beautiful dress?
Thank you! It’s from Anthropologie 🤎🤎
Thank you!
❤❤❤❤
There is a very cool wooden side table that has magazine storage. Where is this from? Is there something similar available that you can share?
❤
I have a weird nook above the tv area in my kiving room that I have no idea how to design. It is large and deep with an arched top.
I would add a large ceramic vase and maybe a stack of 2 tiered baskets with lids. They take up lots of visual space and act as extra storage if needed!
One phot per slide, please❤
Hanging the window rods all the way to the ceiling drives me nuts 😂
It used to drive me nuts too... until I tried it, and OMG the room literally looks taller and so much better
you sound perfect at 1.5 playback speed.
Hi, I love your lamp behind you, can you tell us where you found it?
It’s vintage!!! I found it at a local shop in Little Rock. It’s Onyx and I love it!!
Thank you Ashley!
Create visual space. Bounce lights (mirrors, reflective finishes). Highlight vertical space (ceiling-reaching shelves, full-height artwork, vertical tiles). Create continuity (monotone colours, storage spaces/appliances behind walls, wall mounting for clearing the floor, space symmetry). Save space (cozy dining table, sliding doors).
Single people need dining tables too!
Is a kitchen/living room with a 9 foot ceiling considered small? Just found out our contractor made a mistake. Turns out the concrete ceiling is 9 feet in stead of the 10 feet projected in the architect's drawings! :(
I like all the suggestions except #19 art or portraits on the walls. I like the walls in my space blank. And I do not like mirrors. I can't seem to do when watching any Interior Designer. Merry Christmas today is 12/22/23
Love the ideas. But the side by side pictures are very distracting and confusing.
I will keep this in mind for future videos!
Hi There,
I love design and I am very created.
However, I am changing things. No coffee tables, no rug under the coffee table.
Lose pillows on sofas and chairs. Sofas with no cushions or tacks. Nn rugs under the bed. Only 4 pillows on bed.
Lose the throws on the sofa, store them in a otterman.
Curtains they have to go, use shades or wooden coverings.
Let's start changing things...

Interesting!! Sounds like your leaning into modern minimalism, I love it!
I love your tips but I do not like monochromatic colors. So dull.
Most of these are great! But... banquette seating or bench seating is just NO! NO! NO!!!! Try being in one of these and you or someone else needs to get out and go to the bathroom. 😱😱😱 Awkward!!! Even worse when you have mobility issues and you have to scoot around these awful things. Sorry but bench seating also looks to me like a glorified picnic bench. Only do it if you NEVER intend to use it. Or it's just for the kids.
One could add gliders under the table legs, which allows you to move the table in or out, easily.
Those aren't small places
It will be better if you only put one slide of pic. Instead of two slides..my husband and I stopped watching it..:-(
this is for Rich people not poor people
What is with this love Americans have for black curtain rods? or just curtain rods in general. So old fashion and farmhouse. Use curtain rail and it will look much more chic and beautiful than a rod.
Bookshelves look cheap, cluttered, and dusty to me if they actually contain books. Books should be inside cabinets, they’re not attractive.
