I built a stand for like $150.
Junkyard Radiator and cheap Sunpro gauges.
+ a few hours a welding scrap pieces and you are good.
$2,225 is INSANE!
2500 for this stand! Outrageous price!!
Jay supporting the small business owner, I love that......... Thank A Veteran, every day. Thanks for sharing.
Love the American theme paint job on the stand. Like how he says "offshore products", that's a nice way of putting it.
I wonder if he meant stuff made by the Germans. :-)
Maybe the French?
This is way better than The Tonight Show if you ask me! Keep it up Jay!
Thank you!!
This is a sweet set up. Reasonably priced. Perfect for a resto shop. Maybe not so much for the regular Joe, but still some great products...MADE IN THE USA ! ! !
Jay, would you please do an episode on how to properly store a car and or how to prep one that is only driven less than 10 times a year.
Price seems a little steep, but the quality looks good. I think it is a great idea for someone who doesn't have the capability to make their own, or maybe just doesn't want the hassle of building it themselves. Plus, the dual inlet/outlet radiator would work great for testing flathead Fords.
I'm gonna be removing the engine from my mini cooper this year and that engine dolly looks like it might come in handy, I think I might have to pick one up :)
Nice promotion for a US company. Thanks again for helping out.
Very nice run stand!
My Father did this by cutting off the front of an old truck frame and leaving the radiator in place. We used it sometimes to test motors pulled from cars we were scrapping. Didn't know somebody was selling them, but great idea. Much more compact. If you built custom cars for a living and didn't have time to mess with making a homemade rig, this would be well worth the money.
I love Jay Leno man sad I didn't appreciate him more n watch him more often then I should of but definitely miss staying up to watch him growing up. I just got into building car engines and love doing it this is definitely a most have for me in the future great video peace 😎✌
Well done demo and engine test stand.
Not bad! Excellent demo!
Hell yeah go leno go
Good for a shop that needs all the adapters for different mounts. More time saved more money saved.
Very nice run stand.. Pricey.. But nice for sure..
Looks like a good rig.
Better audio levels. Thanks for taking the cue. Keep the awesome vids coming Jay. BMW 4 life
Beautiful Creation. Love the " cruise control " ;)
great engine stand and right on time. im rebuilding a 365 for my 58 Cadillac and i want to run it outside of the car for adjusting and to fix any leaks or other problems.
i dont have the big bucks for this product im gonna build one myself but it has givin me some good ideas for mine. Always nice to see tools and goodies on jay,s videos outside of the cars ofcourse ;)
Man Jay, love the show!
This is a great idea! But are you able to change parts like the radiator or fuel pump depending on different engines and their needs?
Looks like we should upgrade to this test stand. First thing we would do is modify the throttle control...Jking... Nothing but respect!
great job as usual, Thanks
excelente banco de pruebas. saludos jay.
Not bad for the price! I've spent less on engines but I've also bought those second hand.
Nice product!
very cool
BADASS
I agree . I take shop industrial carts. an make them cost are about 200.00. of course it doesn't have fancy rwb paint
That's pretty sweet.
I consider that pricing to be very reasonable. Yes, one could build their own, but not everyone is into that. I have built very small switch/starter/gauge boxes before for very little money, but I also wasn't working on a bare engine.
What a cool product.
I like it ... and the lil dolly too
visit to my channel please ua-cam.com/video/2V5iUO5fEaU/v-deo.html
My friend bought one of these and I copied the dimensions and made my own for $452 minus the trans ability. However, I made mine to fit the 512 v10 Dodge and added the ability to switch fuels with a valve assembly
Hi bro can you please help me with the specifications and materials required, I would really appreciate incase you need my email is nasmo86@icloud.com thanks
Do I spy a red Corvair? Takes me well back to the 80's when car like that were a dime a dozen. High school was full of 15 year old muscle cars.
Yep, spotted that one too. I was odd-man out with a 59 Studebaker Lark.
You reminded me of one the guys from auto class had a 66 or 67 Ford Fairlane GT 390 4 speed doing burn outs in the parking lot after school, it was a 20 year old rust bucket......
@@Le_Comte_de_Monte_Felin
A friend of mine had a '59 Lark with the 289. He used to blow away 383 MoPars. He'd get 'em off the line and slowly pull away through the quarter❗
He was real proud of it when he first got it and brought it around to show it off. I thought it was a real pile of 💩 'till I rode with him against that MoPar❗
Had one of these in Voc-Ed / High-school. NOT this fancy though (good thing, we would've all been some fightin' muthas over it!).
Thanks for the post. Jim@Mid-Ohio
awesome!
I'm not much of car person (more motorcycles) but doesn't Jay's Garage have solar panels? Any videos on solar power at the garage?
nice video and great product!
My ears exploded at 4:11....
It's made in the USA by a US Veteran!!! I'm ordering the engine dolly : )
😆 what does that even mean? Seriously the amount of arrogance accompanied by “ proudly made in USA “ and veterans, is astounding. There’s Japanese, Italian and German products that far surpasses American made products in quality and performance. Y’all still acting like you’re in high school
@@jasoncardoza6375 i like that high school
@@jasoncardoza6375 If you have to ask what that means you are too far gone! How is supporting a small American business arrogant? Why don’t you take a ride over to the border and start working as a coyote? 🤦♂️
Smart Idea, it is one of those 'I wish I thought of it' sort of things lol
Hey Jay< is that an Suzuki Rotary in the background? I'm an old Water-buffalo owner.
Wow !
Man I love the sound of americain muscle and I'm British
Where can we get some to buy?
Whats that blue car in the corner, an austin healey?
Pretty cool stands for people that are always building engines. But the guy responding to Jay with "It runs clean" does not mean you wont get asphyxiated. It still dumps out carbon monoxide.
Stuka87 most engine test facilities have roof funnels. You just attach the pipe to the exhaust pipe and there's a fan in the roof Funnel that sucks it out the roof.
If you have ever seen a Formula 1 engine on a dyno, you seen the roof funnel in action.
Still, it's a neat product, and will find many homes not just in America. Hell, I could do with one myself. I just can't be asked to take the engine out of my Aston Martin and put it on the rig, I will just let the service agent look after it..
Does this only work on carb engines?
I could use this for my food blender.
that was interesting did you get one jay
Is beautiful the best 👍
Are these compatible with 4 cylinder inline engines? Oh wait, never mind, for a lot less than $2000 I can buy myself a welder, lots of box iron, 1/4" plate and build myself one. It's a really nice product, but also complete overkill for my application.
The sound jay, the sound...???
A couple of perfect Christmas gifts for every car guy, mechanic, etc. I'm glad Jay Leno is alright.
Thanks Jay
Anyone that can supply the name of the electric water pump system? I have been looking for something like that to cool the engine while it is turned off.
Is there much point in having Jay's picture top right?
It's a watermark.
It's a channel link, something UA-cam added as an option a while ago.
***** That no longer works. Google want you to see it all.
TheDutyPaid
Don't be stupid, sure it works. That's the first thing you should do when watching a video on YT... annotatiosn off
PhysicalDimension Nope no longer works. Feel free and try, bet you can't remove it.
I like the engine. :-)
i make my own for 300 max...
Lets see? Do you own a business that makes them? You have employees you have to pay? Employee benefits you have to offer? You see there is a extreme difference in something you can make in your home garage and running a business that designs and manufactures products and has employees on the payroll.
CherokeeApache Irish He is saying he will make his own for personal use for 300... Defensive much.
mumbojumbo123456789
Thank you to understand what you read. : )
That's normal, but i would say not everybody is able to do that...
CherokeeApache Irish
You don't understand what you read ?
Like wrote "my own" : mine, for me only.
my goal is not to make benefits.
i will not spend 2500 if i can make my own for way less.
michaelovitch
he did, he was explaining why the cost is much higher than your, "$300". Cuz as a business they have alot of expenses
2,225 bucks 10 years ago. I built my first one in the 80's out of 2×4×1/4" tubing. And i gave it away. Probably worth 5 grand the way it was built.
Do these stands work with fuel injected engines? If yes then, how do you hook it up?
That's completely ridiculous! You could spend maybe $300 in angle stock and weld up your own. Most of my engines cost less than that stand.
Is that a red Corvair behind Jay? On the lift?
I just noticed IMRROcom's comment.
oh idk if there still selling them but harbor freight had them for 400.00 a couple yrs ago
Could not find them on the Web to get one.
Temporary closed
Can it test an air cooled vw engine
Do I see that right, are you building a Mercedes Renntransporter?
How do you learn/know what engine fits into a certain car?
any engine will fit into any car...all you need is a gas axe, welder & a hammer :-p
That's a good question. And there is no easy answer. Here are the factors:
Length/width/depth of engine relative to engine bay, including cross member to support transmission. Some engines bays are too small to admit larger engines. You have to do your homework. And you may have to have some custom motor mounts made.
Stephen Swain and the hole metric / not metric thing
We miss you Jay......
My cousin has the homemade version, only got a couple hours and a hundred bucks in it. Does the same thing.
I'm really surprised this is a new thing I mean the pc market has had test bench cases for ever.
it would be great if it could meshure the power
Nice stand, but I liked the 66 ? corvair...corsa in the back better...
That’s pretty cool but I personally know guys who run them on a steel top work bench with about 50 bucks in scrap components
199 bucks is amazing for an American built dolly. Amazing deal
BrainStorm4207 exactly what I thought, I was expecting it to be at least a grand
I like the Suzuki re-5 rotary in the background, on the lift with the seat open behind them. Anybody else catch that?
I didn't get it, was it build in America?
No, it's built in America. :P
clausewitzmoltke
Ah, thought it was build in America. Thanks for correcting ;)
Björn Lubetzki You guys are all wrong... I am pretty sure it's built in America.
godbluffvdgg built in America but made in America
DoomDriver32 I just wish people would understand, I mean, I know that nobody has mentioned this, not even once but; it's built in America.
Consider price of steel, add to it the design time, to that the equipment to cut everything , jigs for assembly , welding, drilling etc. Then powdercoat in 3 colors. Buy gauges, switches, fuel cells, battery , radiator, cooling fan, and all the stuff not listed. 2500 is a fair price . Cobble one up for 200$? Sure , won't look or perform like this one.
Nice stand for the money BUT i hoping that you could find a little time for my Mercedes 280SS i drove 3hr to see you or one of your guys and got luckey and met your crew, they took the time to look it over and take photos (check with Bernard or George about the photos) i would love to have your comment
That thing would be more valuable if they fitted HP measurment tool for a flywheel.
It's dot net. The 2225.00 is for the full blown professional model. They have a base model (875.00) that is REALLY bare, it has nothing on it. Even the shop unit requires the throttle to be bought separately (135.00) Ouch! Those that build their own, save...those that can't...pay.
I just finished one for dads race flatheads, not that nice still serviceable
Is Jays brother still around?
5:19 says .com? Bottom right says .net
Anyone can custom-made it at any metal shop
Almost every mechanic can weld and got some old steel, radiator and the other parts you need to build this, laying around...
Its not that hard to make yourself. So yeah, the price is just beyond overpriced.
Finally some reasonably priced items.
Its funny how jay persists that its gotta be made in usa, yet almost all the cars he collects are made in Europe LOL !!!
Those prices are really reasonable people. Compare to your run of the mill stands.
dot COM, or dot NET ??
Ditto
Saw that blooper!
$2,225?!?! i guarantee i could make one for under $500! seriously, who tf is buying this?
the sound was a bit low at 4:12 than i popped a little
Price is very reasonable
If you cant build one yourself and have lots of money to burn
I'm old school. No test needed. I put it in car. and start it up.
With dyno instruments, at a few bucks more.... " a dyno in every garage"
$60 worth of tube for $2500 um ok
