Another excellent free fix/mod tutorial. Enjoyed you showing the various angles post modification. Initially the thought of lopping mine off crossed my mind. But I liked the way it looked so I opted the leave it alone. In retrospect I'm glad I did, especially after watching this easy fix for it. Thanks 👍
Good on you for put the effort in to making a video of this. 👍👍👍 This is something most folk would just gripe about, but you provided the inspiration to fix the issue.
I love the heal shift as well but really hate how it interferes with normal foot position. Genius👍 Soft jaw vise or wood blocks to keep from mangling the metal
The heel shifter is mostly found on motorcycles with floorboards. I rode an Electra Glide for a good little while at work, once I got used to the shifter I loved it. We rode in 17” tall boots with no issues. I do agree that the CT is way different.
Great fix however I don’t mind mine I’m quite used to it from my Harley heritage bikes and you’re right, it does come in handy and I think cutting it off is a mistake if you can do that simple fix, nice job!
That`s the way I made it with my 2019 Super Cub; my shoes are not the smallest and they collided with the front and rear end of the shift lever permanently. Now I can rest my left foot comfortably on the footpeg.
If you watch videos of cities such as Vietnam, you will notice they wear sandals and flip flops when they ride. Shifting up wearing that type of footwear can be painful for your toes. So that is the reason for a heel toe shifter.
Good man! I love that intro'. It's one name for you. It's another name for us. It's cool for everyone. Right. I cannot believe I had never considered why the heel and toe shifter is as it is. It did not occur to me that it might be to prevent killing nice shoes. One of these for me I think, once my PCX150 has done another 50,000 miles (total 100,000 miles). EDIT. I would probably cry like a baby if I ever got a bike as filthy as you did at the end of this video. I have never owned a dirt-bike, and that would be a different story, of course.
The recall was due to what they deemed inferior welds on the shifter. They wouldn't release my new bike to me until they had replaced it. If the weld looks sufficient on the one that's on the bike I wouldn't worry to much about that one either. I moved my shifter one notch on the spline. That worked great for me. I only wear size 10 shoes though.
It's for dress shoes, actually. The original supercub was meant as an all-rounder for a bit of everyone. So, the heel shift was meant to keep shoes from getting scuffed. Eventually, that feature grandfathered onto the first Trail bikes, then onto the one we have now.

Thanks for watching and commenting as always bud!! 🙏
Thanks for the info, will keep that mod in mind. I’m like you, I actually like the heel shifter, especially when I’m wearing boots.

I just bought a 3rd party shifter, that way I could always put the original back in pristine condition if I ever found that to be important to do.

Thx for all the help and videos!
It's getting caught on my heel. It's annoying and I never use it. I will definitely be doing this mod as I don't want to cut it off either thanks!
Looking good! I may have to pick up one of these bikes :)
I've been trying to hold out; they are extremely scarce out here in CO which has helped me not already trying to mod one.

Very nicely done, both the mod and the vid.

Right.

Nice, thanks!
Because I wear boots, I have never been able to use my heal to shift. I got into the habit of just using my toe to push down on the heal shifter.
Once you get used to it, I find myself using it all the time
Very cool idea!
Thank you! Cheers!
What's the torque spec for that nut holding it on? Also, what size shoe do you wear?
Question, why does my toes hurt from shifting with my toes? Is that normal or am I shifting the wrong way? Thanks in advance
Wear workboots and the problem is solved.
Heal shifter is easier for those in Asia that wear sandals to upshift.
Yo there's a recall/replacement on the shifter from Honda coming in November...
Indeed there is, I’ll most likely skip it too

That looks like a good idea. 👍👍
Great idea ,
Cheers .
Thanks!
Helpful. TY
Looks like a good mod for that; any worries on the lip of the heel of your boot catching the lip of the heel shifter and causing a false downshift?
Not until you made me think of it! Lol!! I’ve had this done for months now and haven’t had that happen, but not saying it couldn’t.
@@John5XR hopefully I didn't just jinx you on that!
I didn't enjoy it. I think it is a pragmatic modification yesterday for the size of our feet. And the only cost is time in tools. Good stuff, thanks!
also sandal convenience
There are also a large amount of people who wear sandles that ride this bike in other countries, this is also the reason.
Nice.👍😁
you must have really love adidas .anyway great idea.
I think it's more flip-flop wearers rather than business shoes, but hey.
Makes sense
It’s more likely for people wearing flip-flops. I’d guess the rest of the world 50% of people are wearing them while riding.
