This helped me tremendously with my cardiac nursing exam. I wish you had more videos for other body systems and disease processes because you have a way of making it very understandable.
Thank you so much Dr Sharon I really enjoy and learn a lot on your videos especially the questions. I’m writing Nclex in a week time and this is very helpful.

I am literally watching all these playlist! You're so easy to understand and very enjoyable to listen. You make this content feel a lot less intimidating.
I have a question: so in question 2 you mentioned that oliguria occurs as a result of decreased CO, however in question 1 you mentioned that their UOP should still be normal. can you please clarify if oliguria with a patient in heart failure is expected or unexpected?
I was confused as well because I thought it’s asking left sided heart failure so it will back up to the lungs which is the pulmonary edema , crackles, and dec. oxygen saturation level. Oliguria? I don’t see it to be part because is not backing up to he lungs. Please please help. THANKS
I'm confused on this also!! I always associated left sided HF with symptoms related to the lungs. And she did say that urine output isn't always decreased with heart failure, someone please clarify!!!
Yes, L-sided does back-up into the lungs. But also, since the blood is backing up into the lungs, it means that blood is not properly leaving the heart. Say 20% is leaving the heart and not the normal 60%. So if only 20% leaves the heart, and (she said that 25% of the blood that leaves the heart goes straight for the kidneys), then the patient would only have 5% of their blood being filtered in the kidneys now. It used to filter 15% of blood, when the patient didnt have HF and had 60% leaving. So basically that would lead to low urinary output if it is left sided HF. I hope I helped. Idk if the Dr will msg back, so I figured I would jump in lol
Hello Dr Sharon thank you so much for this lecture. It’s a great help!!! I just want to clarify, aldosterone is potassium wasting.. because aldosterone causes sodium to be absorbed. And they have inverse relationship.. isn’t it? correct me if im wrong please.

Dr Sharon will you have a GI review soon?
Hello Dr Sharon thank you so much for this lecture. It’s a great help!!! I just want to clarify, aldosterone is potassium wasting.. because aldosterone causes sodium to be absorbed. And they have inverse relationship.. isn’t it? correct me if im wrong please.
Aldosterone is potassium sparing
No it is potassium sparing
I think she is referring to aldactone (spironolactone)
Aldosterone will cause water retention therefore increasing blood volume.
What if the patient also has bronchial asthma? is it still ok to give a non selective beta blocker like carvedilol? thank you
Veryyyyy helpfullll
Glad to hear that
How can I get to your review class
For the 210 lb patient I wasn’t even lookin at the weight .. I was looking at the BNP.
I think on the lecture it says because you expected elevated BNP on heart failure >100
the best in the market
PLEASE TEACH USTHE EKG
There are at least 3 videos on EKG. Look under the cardiac playlist
