He was a big influence on the Beatles and a lot of the Merseybeat bands.I love his music, my friend and producer Dave Edmunds tried to work with him in the late 70s but Del was in a dark place.Prozac finally drove him over the edge. What a talent, what a loss.I still cry when I hear "Little Town Flirt", and I'm 71! Bless you Del, I pray you'r at peace , you'l never be forgotten as long as your records are played.❤😢
Would have been pretty hard to get anything to sound right on the windy beach with the equipment we had in the 60s. Even most of the TV stuff was "canned" because the sets were mostly bigass warehouses with multiple shows being taped some, or even a lot, times. Would have sounded awful.
Three of the songs I loved most from my childhood were "Runaway," "Little Town Flirt," and "Keep Searching." Del Shannon was one of the best, and you're right; taken too soon. I felt good watching this video, but I felt a little melancholy, too.
Michael Neely I don't believe they are the Young Sisters. the Young Sisters were 3 Italian girls with dark hair. there are 5 girls in white and 1 in a dark shirt. you can find Del Shannon singing in front of the same building with 9 dancers (2 or 3 male).
Just looking at a picture of Del Shannon, There have been a lot of artist In Hollywood & Musions Take there lives one way or another, We will never know WYE, Del, Shannon was very talented young man Brilliant voice, Well Del Shannon, you are sadly missed fans from all over the World , You just happen to be in the right time 60s like so many other artist, God bless you & America, RIP ❤ 🇺🇲
I got this record in January 1963 and think it holds up very well with others I acquired that year, including "In Dreams" by Roy Orbison and the Ronettes' "Be My Baby."
Del made some truly great records in the early sixties. Unfortunately he was around at the wrong time. From 1964 onwards everyone was obsessed with The Beatles and the so called British invasion. Many great American artists struggled during this period, many simply faded away. Only Elvis and perhaps Roy Orbison managed to buck this trend. I understand the Ronettes sang the backing vocals on this disc, just before they met Phil Spector and recorded Be My Baby,
My wife and I were lucky enough to win some tickets from our Local Radio Station to see Del in Windsor Ontario for one of his last to be concerts. He died a short time later. It was one of the greatest concerts I have seen to this day. Damn I miss this music. There is nothing today that compares to this. Miss the hell out of you Del. Steve & Kathy L.
Del Shannon a wonderful Rock and Roll singer my 2nd favourite my 1st is The Everly Bros. This type of singers have passion compared with todays trash music.
Loved Del, but the saddest thing is that, in the early 60's, I really wanted to be the "Little Town Flirt". Fat chance. Still working on it, though 50-odd years later!
i found about this song today in the morning while listening to the radio and i found out about del shannon yesterday he's already become one of my favorite artists
Wow What a great singer Del was..and great female backing vocals..He was one of a kind, up there with Elvis, Billy, Buddy, Everly Bths..Far to young to die, but his music will live on forever..RIP Del...
I've had a handful of artists that defined me as a person, who's music I later on always try to recreate, artists that I admire and at the same time dwarf me, knowing that I will never be a great as them. Del Shannon is one of them. He has been with me ever since I was a little child and this is my favourite Del Shannon song.
What a man! We sure enjoyed him when he came to the Surf Ballroom for the Buddy Holly concerts. I know we all miss him. Thank you for posting this vid! Mark
amen. thank you for stating something that seems rather complicated in such a plain, direct way. I've suffered from depression off and on most of my life, and I assure anyone it's more than being merely sad.
Wow-I never heard this one. I knew Runaway, and saw this link. I am more into 50's rock, but a few 60's songs I dig too, and I am startin to like more of Del Shannon. I love this beat I am boppin my head up and down and alternating sides.
I wanted Del Shannon in the Traveling Willburys so very badly. He just couldn't make it. Our loss! Rest in Paradise Del. Thanks for being so sweet and good!!!
Totally agree, guys. Listen to the Billboard Top 100 now as compared to anytime between the 60's, 70's and 80's and you'll wonder "what the hell happened". That's why some of today's youth is going retro and forming a real appreciation for yesterday's music.
I wish I was one of those girls on the boat, especially the one that was standing so close to him. Yes, another one of our great singers taken from us way too soon from this earth. As I said in a previous comment. I had a real crush on him.Micheline Kribs,Rolla,MO
I love this video and the song (and Del of course). Adorable little kid in the beginning ... if that was 1963 and that baby was about a year and a half or two, that would make her around 51 today. Wonder if she ever watches this video and realizes what a part of history she was? I miss Del Shannon; wish he was still around, making music.
I would often get hurt, hurt, hurt listening to Del. I'd get all excited with each new release, then get my heart broken when nobody else would buy his records!
One of Del's best, and he had plenty of good ones. You'll think you gotta paper heart when she starts to tear it apart. Love it. Thanks so much for posting.
Incredible music here. Nothing today even comes close. So sad the state of music today. Del was fantastic. What on earth has happened to music?? Why don't they write songs like this anymore?
@64goldenoldies you are so right...diarrhea, rap, hop & lock stock and barrel.... I'm still stuck in the 60s, 70s & 80s,,,,,then, the music just went dudu...roq
One of the best,i have most of his songs, was a sad day when on the 8th Fed 1990 he shot himself with a .22 caliber rifle. He left us with great songs though.
Guys, take some comfort in the fact that these great songs are still 'here', alive and... enjoyed by folks of all ages ~ the ones who "get it", that is! :)
i sat in the local billiard hall of tender years and heard Runaway . 1961 Since that "awakening" not a day goes by without a few Del numbers . So his death certainly was a shock to me Yet he has left such a great catalogue to be remembered by
He was a big influence on the Beatles and a lot of the Merseybeat bands.I love his music, my friend and producer Dave Edmunds tried to work with him in the late 70s but Del was in a dark place.Prozac finally drove him over the edge. What a talent, what a loss.I still cry when I hear "Little Town Flirt", and I'm 71! One of the most underrated singers that ever lived.
Can say that again. And this is a terrific song. But all these lip sync performances are so lame.
INDEPENDENT FILM CHANNEL Yeah but at least we have something.
He suffered from chronic depression much of his life and battled alcoholism. We lost him way too early.
Would have been pretty hard to get anything to sound right on the windy beach with the equipment we had in the 60s. Even most of the TV stuff was "canned" because the sets were mostly bigass warehouses with multiple shows being taped some, or even a lot, times. Would have sounded awful.
He sure was he was one of the best died 2 early 💔
Three of the songs I loved most from my childhood were "Runaway," "Little Town Flirt," and "Keep Searching." Del Shannon was one of the best, and you're right; taken too soon. I felt good watching this video, but I felt a little melancholy, too.
Great taste, add Kelly to that lol
Melancholy, like the song. ……this was the first 45 that I brought.
I had to come back to this, back ground vocals Superb, so special thanks Del.
Del Shannon with the Young Sisters backing him. Great song from a great time.
Michael Neely I don't believe they are the Young Sisters. the Young Sisters were 3 Italian girls with dark hair. there are 5 girls in white and 1 in a dark shirt. you can find Del Shannon singing in front of the same building with 9 dancers (2 or 3 male).
Dell had some amazing songs but his dancers where awesome. Wish there was clearer videos around.thanks for the upload though👍🏻
Love Del, always will. Gone but never forgotten. He's at peace, now.
Hello from Berlin, Germany. I love this one
What a song what a singer has to be one of the best ever,a real legend.
One of my favorite music videos, right here.
a very great artist for the way he sings
this music is here to stay ,,,,forever tattoooooo in our memories that had the best music ever thanks del ...

his suicide broke my heart, i always wondered, didnt he know how talented he was? how so many of us loved his music? lonelystreet

You just happen to be in the right time
60s like so many other artist, God bless you & America, RIP ❤ 🇺🇲
Great song from the great Del Shannon
I remember loving this song when I was about 8 years old - I'm impressed with my early taste in music!
This is great.
Brilliant..love Del's voice, unique and lovely x
I got this record in January 1963 and think it holds up very well with others I acquired that year, including "In Dreams" by Roy Orbison and the Ronettes' "Be My Baby."
You can get hurt hurt hurt hurt by that little town flirt, but you can never get hurt listening to the genius of Del Shannon!!!

DEPENDS ON HOW ONE LOOKS AT THE SITUATION. I THOUGHT HE WAS AROUND AT THE PERFECT TIME. AND NO WAY EVERYONE OBSESSED WITH THE BEATLES.
RESPECTFULLY
Great to see this again, Del and I miss you all the time, love you forever, caro
How 'bout them hot '60s go-go dancers? A fun video and a great piece of music from a happier time!
Rock on Del!
Fantastic! Thanks so much for posting! I ❤️ Del Shannon!
Del Shannon a wonderful Rock and Roll singer my 2nd favourite my 1st is The Everly Bros. This type of singers have passion compared with todays trash music.

I agree 100 per cent, Micheline Kribs, Rolla,MO
Gail Jacqueline Mrs Gray
Agree with your choices.
I have recently discovered The Everlys and Del Shannon.
I listen to their songs almost every day...
One of the great originals...Great writer and singer
i found about this song today in the morning while listening to the radio and i found out about del shannon yesterday he's already become one of my favorite artists

Wow What a great singer Del was..and great female backing vocals..He was one of a kind, up there with Elvis, Billy, Buddy, Everly Bths..Far to young to die, but his music will live on forever..RIP Del...

Absolutely amazing singer songwriter. Gone much too soon.beautiful music.xx
What happened to singer that you said gone much too soon? 😢
Yes, R.I.P. Del! What a unique sound ..on all of his songs. So talented. Under rated musician.
Oh. I had quite forgotten that he sung this. Good for you and UA-cam. It's great to discover, but sometimes even better to rediscover.
Proud you must be . to be a part and working with the great Del Shannon What memories you must have sir.
Depression is a very dangerous and cruel disease. A lot more complicated than just being sad.
Now this is what you call a rock n'roll singer. Nobody else ever really came close.
amen. thank you for stating something that seems rather complicated in such a plain, direct way. I've suffered from depression off and on most of my life, and I assure anyone it's more than being merely sad.
Great gems of the 60's. Thanks.
This is such a classic....phenomenal music from the real golden age of rock music. I loved this guy's music as a Junior High School kid 13-16
Bill
Me too. He was my no.1 favourite as an adolescent boy.
I like this music, older but fine, thanks for this video
Wow-I never heard this one. I knew Runaway, and saw this link. I am more into 50's rock, but a few 60's songs I dig too, and I am startin to like more of Del Shannon. I love this beat I am boppin my head up and down and alternating sides.

We had the best music of all time in 1959-1961. Darin.. Elvis... Richards... and so may others...
I wish I was one of those girls on the boat, especially the one that was standing so close to him. Yes, another one of our great singers taken from us way too soon from this earth. As I said in a previous comment. I had a real crush on him.Micheline Kribs,Rolla,MO

That episode from Where The Action Is was recorded in 1965.
I would often get hurt, hurt, hurt listening to Del.
I'd get all excited with each new release, then get my
heart broken when nobody else would buy his records!
One of Del's best, and he had plenty of good ones. You'll think you gotta paper heart when she starts to tear it apart. Love it. Thanks so much for posting.
so so so real rock and roll, simple but great
So true bigkuluboy.Such a tradgedy in both his end and the fact we cannot return to that period except for videos like this. Thank you norbellini.
Love him. Great songs.
So much talent. Such a great loss. I still cry.
Amazing song by a unique and powerful singer.
I too saw Del many times during the seventies in clubs around Madison Wisc.and shared good times between sets..RIP Del
Thanks for posting this! Del at his best and a real rarity.
I am good friends with his nephew Chuck and listen to his music often, one of the best!
Dell Shannon - One of the best rocker, writer, & musicians of all times!

Incredible music here. Nothing today even comes close. So sad the state of music today. Del was fantastic. What on earth has happened to music?? Why don't they write songs like this anymore?
Loved this song when it came out. I was very sad when I heard he committed suicide! RIP Del! 💖😪💖
Nothing reminds me more of the early 60's than the music of Del Shannon. What a legend!
for sure
What a great guy and sad loss to the era.
i saw del live at the talk of the west cornwall, in the seventies, he was great, his voice sounded just the same as on the old 45,s
Del Shannon knew how to relate to anyone who has ever had their heart stomped on...great performer who died too soon...
One of my fave songs by him. R.I.P. Del.
Great video!! I have his album of his great hits.

One of the best,i have most of his songs, was a sad day when on the 8th Fed 1990 he shot himself with a .22 caliber rifle. He left us with great songs though.
Probably the best pop/rock songwriter of the entire pre-British Invasion era.
Brilliant stuff.
Good drums in this classic 60's tune
one of my favorite songs
Takes me back to the day

Guys, take some comfort in the fact that these great songs are still 'here', alive and...
