Tanjiro is precious soul. He is DEFINITELY underrated. The way he helps demons remember there life and cries for them. I find is great. He is very typical shonen protag. But he does it SO WELL.. he isnt in my top 10...but i have respect for him
Might I also that the reason Tanjiro feels for the demons feels for thier human selfs they once were he might have gotten that perspective becauce of Nezuko I mean she was human too before muzan killed his family and turned Nezuko into a demon
This vid was a feast for the eyes and music to my ears. It’s about damn time I see a video that ACTUALLY analyzes and understands KnY, and more specifically Tanjiro, rather than bash it with misconceptions, bad faith and flimsy arguments or even straight misinformation. But hey, there’s bound to be at least one pristine flower left even after the buffalos stampede over the meadows. 📿🙏🗿 Edit: apt title
Tanjiro is a paragon archetype character. They are notoriously misjudged as simple characters. But their genius really comes not in how they change but in how they change other's and inspire qualities in the audience themselves. There's a reason Tanjiro is so looked up to, and a reason why characters like Superman and Captain America are considered similarly in their steadfast morality and humanity.
tanjiro always been my goat bruh the rui fight is the time i actually got up out of my seat and rooted for a character because i was so with him and behind his goals
Most of the Anime protagonist should learn one thing about Tanjiro. Tanjiro is kind and yet he won't hesiste to show mercy to anyone who tries to hurt or kill one of his friends human or not
Wasn't expecting a video about this character. I loved it! People make fun of me because I like Deku but the other characters in his show wouldn't be the same without the unconditional kindness he showed them. Yuji for example how quickly Megumi and Nobara come to trust him when they aren't the emotional type. Characters like Yuji, Deku and Tanjiro with very high emotional intelligence are really needed for the young male audience they are written for. Emotional intelligence is very valuable. And crying doesn't make you less of a man.
This video reminded me of a important scene. Many tanjiro fans should use to combat those who discredit him. During the LM1 on the mugen train had the demon lulled those into a dream world to devour them. Tanjiro afer figuring out how to escape is by......SLITTING HIS THROAT and not once....bor twice......not even thrice. But 100 times over and over and over to wake up. It wasn't painless...if that isnt a compelling character....idk what to say
Tanjiro is meant to be a superman archetype. Plain and simple. And i dont mean that in terms of power but in terms of morals. His journey isnt about changing his beliefs but instead standing by them no matter how hard things get. Even then the show makes it a point that Tanjiro isnt infallible. Because hes still human and he needed the support of others to be able to hold on to his beliefs. If Giyu and Urokodaki hadnt vouched for him and Nezuko they wouldnt be able to maintain their progress. If Kotetsu hadnt pushed him in his training he wouldnt have been able to improve as much as he did. Even then in the third season we are shown once and for all that Tanjiro is human and flawed because given the choice to save the villagers or his sister, he chose his sister. Even if it meant him being paralyzed by the choice. He never moved from his sister. In all honesty Tanjiro is the most human character I've seen in a long time.
This was an amazing video. Demon slayer truly shows the power of empathy from not a foolish standpoint. I agree with your muzan statement near the end. Keep up the great videos hundred
This is probably the first time I see Tanjiro being described in this light. For me the character that immediately came to mind that reflects the theme of the video is Yuji and personally I find Yuji reflect this theme better than Tanjiro did. Still it's good for you to have a character you enjoy enough to make a video like his for them.
Thank you for all of the content and analyses you’ve provided. They’re well thought out and interesting to listen to. I agree with what you said about Tanjiro, I think I also aspire to be like him. To bring light into the world and remain kind despite our suffering. Thank you again and take care!
Muzan being pure evil works so well to the series advantage because if you think about it, Demon Slayer is modern mythology, a classic tale of good vs evil
Really nice take on your favorite character. Demon Slayer hit me emotionally a lot like Naruto did while growing up. While tanjiro isn't my fave he definitely has a special place in my anime heart. Lol nice video my dood.
Haha i realizes the kanzo ⭕ in the title which is a enlightenment concept of letting of thought and let the body create. Which is so tamjiro and love it. Him and yuji are similar as well.
Loving your content more and more everyday. Animanga discourse is largely superficial dude bro “ this is terrible, poorly written” for everything you don’t like, and fans eventually absorb each other’s agendas and groupthink. Not much if any meaningful critical discourse. I’ve appreciated the care and understanding you spend on these analysis, and I feel they’re close to the artistic vision being presented to us. MCs like Tanjiro are overlooked because they’re static, but without the hint of edge, or macho that shonen MC’s generally have. In a world of high stakes, violence, Tanjiro, like Yuji, can’t help but express his own humanity.
Well said 👏 critical thinking classes are needed across the world tbh, or at least media literacy classes. And yes! That's exactly why I'm so attached to tanjiro and Yuji!
Goated take! My favourite character of all time is Luffy, but IMO Tanjiro also captures the same kind of inherent goodness and purity that is difficult to write in a nuanced and interesting way. Also I’d like to add very well edited and put together video analysis. I would love to see more content like this from you on other series if you decide to make it:)
I think Tanjiro will always he in my top 10. Not sure where but I think Tanjiro helped me view characters in a empathetic light For example, in Rising Shield Hero there were two characters Ren and Itsuki who both commit sins and lose so much due to their ignorance and stupidty. Fans hated that they got forgiven so quickly and that there wasnt a "satisfying revenge" end to the characters. Yet here I was, thinking about who they were before they became hereos, before they failed at there duty. Tanjiro never forgave his enemies, just felt empathy for the path they followed. TLDR; Tanjiro has changed how I view characters in fiction/real life. If a character can do that, they will never be forgotten in my book. Great vid my man
This video was better than I though and it made me put a character which I considered boring and bland slightly higher on the tier list, sure there are some exaggerations here and there but overall its a pretty good video
Absolutely love the video ( and man make whatever content you enjoy and feel passionate about that’s what we the people come to see after all YOUR PASSION) even though I personally think the demon slayer story was low to mid at best ( the pacing felt like how they did the akame ga kill anime [ I did enjoy the thematics and certain characters representations] so it’s cool to see someone not absolutely dunk on demon slayer!
Tanjiro is this golden hearted protagonist that can do no wrong but unlike Naruto or Luffy he's not an idiot. He is smart, has charisma and from the very beginning responsibility for his little sister that accompanies him on his adventures. He reminded me to be a responsible older brother again.
On the surface tanjiro is a really boring character but when watching the show I can’t help but really like him. I like that he’s incredibly patient and forgiving with human characters but when it comes to the demons he clearly recognizes them as unrelentingly evil and doesn’t hesitate to kill them.
