I remember as a young boy back in the 60's my parents had a white (1959?) VW. We did all our holidays in that car, with roof bars on the roof, and two kids tucked down in the back on an improvised bed/bench seat. Now 50 years later, this brings back great memories of holidays and unexplored country. Awesome!
"Oh,...the brakes are terrible!" .... and a car makes a U-turn in front of you a few moments later...I had a heart attack on your behalf...😁 Very cool looking machine. I like that style of wheel too. Cheers, and stay well!
Dear @@cidercik 👍👌👏 😁😂😁😂 Yeah, it looks as if to be a part of the VW oldtimer community is simply necessary!? ;-) Just kidding of course. Best regards, luck and health.
Glad you made it home, classic “I know where I’m going” moment lol Well, it’s in a little bit better shape than the pine cone beetle….. Seriously, nice score.
Drove a 64 bug around SW Philly in the mid 70's.The cobblestone streets, and trolley tracks were hard on it. Glad it did not have the teeny front tires, and lowered front. That would have destroyed it !
@@5150mxVW of course! You def deserve more subs...I don’t understand why you don’t have 10mil yet! You are fantastic! Also..anymore videos with mustie coming soon?
Haha that was pretty cool with your sons ability to spot broken down VWs in the woods, who knows if it ended up there or if it was pushed there, don't even have a drivers license but still recently subscribed for the restoration of these old cars, thanks
sounds like a plan ! brakes / strip and repaint to OG Java green for the weekend🤣....I will probably just drive the 66 Beetle . I will be leaving this one as is paint wise and just tidy it up for driving ....I have enough cars needing paint haha. See you Sunday Bud.
Yes , she noticed a roof rack on one of the cars and asked “ is that new ? “ . Yes , it came from the Beetle I just bought , I said ....she wasn’t thrilled haha . I had given him a deposit and took the rack , went back later w Jen . Yes , Josh always keeping it real 😁. Thank you
Nice Bug! My dad has a 64 beetle low rider pearl white patina. When we first got it it had the BRMs. Now we got the porche rims on it. Planning on getting the BRMs again! 👍
At least you don’t have to sneak this one past Jenn! LOVE THE COLOR! Next Sunday it will be 82 degrees so I am going to drive 007 to Rapid City and back 174 miles one way. Will leave very early so I can be back before it hits 82. Will have the oil changed before I go. Wish me luck! Roger in Pierre South Dakota
J, I love the new car! Great year and I too am a fan of the BRMs. $6k IMO is very fair for that car, despite the number of non-matching pieces that appear to be on it. I’ll tell you I never drive my oldies on the highway if I can avoid it. Danger Will Robinson!
Another great find. Really dig the color. The engine sound strong and the lowered front end must have made it a bear to drive. You really do have a touch for finding these gems. Keep up the hunt.
Looks good for 6k us ,that would be 20k in Aussie money.Love your channel .I have a lad named Josh the same age. We are doing a restomod on a 61 one year only Ruby Red . Keep up the great videos .Ive watched all your vids I love your style and content. You’re keeping it real 🤙
Love the colour of that bug Jason, a friend of mine has an immaculate mid 60's Karmann Ghia original in that colour. The '64 you bought will come up great with those few mechanical issues fixed, shame about the super lowered suspension, looks good but impractical, great it is still 6 volt and original 1200/40hp engine.
Ditto! Not looking for a Bug, but a Chevy II. Not looking very hard as I have a new project currently with a 1981 Vette. Turn out to be way better than thought as the old owner thought it needed a new motor, but it needed a full tune up, like every possible part needed for the tuneup. Distributer, coil, plugs, air filter, wires, everything, but it runs excellent even with the crossfire fuel injection which can sometimes be a pain, but it’s excellent! Transmission is crisp as well. It’s in the body shop now. Everything is straight as it was garage kept (kinda, the roof leaked) so the paint will be redone in factory colours. First repaint on it. It’s a teenaged dream car when I was 16-17 years old. Now I have one at 57!! Haha. Interior next! I have all of the parts here now except the seats. They were the fabric covered models, but that’s hard to find so the foams and leather covers are on the way! Should have just bought the seats, but who knows??? Cars are a new addiction for me as it was trucks for the last 42 years!
Sweet car! Has a lot less work needed on it than most of the ones you have at home 🤣. Nice carpet set and away you go.... Check it out and maybe install a camber compensator in the back and make sure you have a front anti sway bar on the front beam. Sometimes adding caster shims helps an unstable front end too. The smaller front wheels make for wrong speedo readings. Hooray!!! Welding!! Pretty soon you’ll be just like Mike Fn!!! 😉💪👍
I bought a 64 out of a junkyard in Boise Idaho in 84 for $400. Best car I ever had and I miss it daily. We just didn’t know what we had. I sure love my 69 which I do have.
I bought a '70 Ford Econoline Van w/out a test drive -& had my best friend follow me home, you know "just in case". Brakes were occasional, let's say. But driving home on a Friday night after rush hour balanced it out :)

Nice car Jason. The last bug I bought back in the 80s that I drove home from its resting place was a 1966 older restoration not in bad shape at all. I paid $400.00 for. If I only knew they would be selling for six grand 😳

Doesn't look like this 64 is going to take a lot to make right. Just fix the stance, steering, speedometer, and the brakes, Find something to plug those flag/antennae holes so water doesn't get in, and just sort it all out. Seemed to run really well. I really like the orange color. I'm concerned, though, about how long that exterior paint is going to hold on. Looks like it's already trying to peel off of the passenger's side fender. Similar condition car would probably go for about that same price down here. Jen didn't seem too angry about this one so that's a plus. Also.
