  • Krake is the Bolliger & Mabillard dive machine at Heide Park. It opened as the smallest dive coaster and it's still the only one in all of Germany. It has one of the most iconic drops in the world plunging into the kraken, but does that save it from being the worst B&M dive coaster?

I rode Oblivion TBH at Gardaland (the extended version of this) and it was so much fun, it was still short, but all the other qualities it brought balanced it out for me.

While it's definitely too short, I still love the three main elements. The drop is of course awesome, and the Immelmann is easily the best one I've experienced. Its incredible and sustained floater in the back makes it my favorite inversion in the park. And the camelback is also really nice and graceful floater. Krake is probably the definition of 'really short, but really sweet' for me, if that's a thing.

The worst dive coaster is oblivion. It's trash. Just the hill and a turn.

I don't think it's the worst, but I can understand that people may be underwhelmed that this ride is very short in length. That's where I think the other miniature dive coasters do better, is that the elements are better and is better paced.

Krake at Heide Park was not placed in your video of top 25 worst roller coasters in the world (2020), made in early 2021. Oblivion at Alton Towers, Oblivion the Black Hole at Gardaland and Baron 1898 at Efteling were also not placed there. Limit at Heide Park was not placed there, but Blue Tornado at Gardaland was. So if I ask you, why?

A fantastic drop, cool water splash and immelman, but WAY to short. I get dives are a 1 trick pony, but even Oblivion has something to it that seems longer or I guess the better word is more complete.

I agree. Baron is a much better experience. Krake was just too short and unimpressive.

I feel like krake is always left out with the Asian dive coasters

I think this coaster is actually pretty great for the park, just because of the imposing drop into the Ship and the huge splash it produces - it's just a really great looking ride. Yeah it's a short but honestly the drop is so great, it alone makes for a fun ride and the immelmann also gives great sustained airtime if you have some space. Out of the three divers I have done I would agree it's the weakest, but I think it still deserves a 7/10

And would you like to ride again all B&M dive coasters, including Oblivion at Alton Towers and Oblivion: The Black Hole at Gardaland? Those two, see in POVs, but I think they are short like Krake at Heide Park.

I would still probably take this over say Valravn at Cedar Point due to the awesome looking theming and unique placement for a splashdown. Great review 🥃

It's funny, when I was there last summer (2021), that one bunny hill gave some fantasically sustained floater air-time but I've never heard anyone ever mention it being more than just weak floater so I don't know if I was just really lucky my trip.

I haven’t ridden a dive yet but I’m exited to ride one since the other b&ms I’ve ridden raging bull,Batman, Superman ultimate flight, and x flight were great

This coaster has solid theming, but it’s layout just looks so weak. I’ve ridden two B&M dives, Valravn and Sheikra. I think they’re both very underrated. But this was an awesome review, keep up the great work!

I couldn't believe it when you said "and hit the brakes". I was wondering if I blacked out and missed you talking about the other elements. I always like the dive coasters, and at least this one looks great, even if it is short.

waited 90 damn minutes for the ride, man was I disappointed after I hit the brakerun, I was like "Oh that's what I just waited 90 minutes for?" but later that day I got an awesome night ride at krake. The nightride was truly amazing, but the layout is way too short.

Nice review, have to agree with you, the drop feels so much weaker than other dive coasters, the theming is cool though. I found the seats so close together I couldn't even move my arms :D Just as tip for your German pronounciation, generally a word ending in 'e' is pronounced 'uh', so it's Krah-kuh and Hei-duh Park :)

Imagine seeing videos of you from 2020 and early 2021 with Krake at Heide Park, that reflected the rides you got on it back... in 2018?
