    Much agreed. It's not terrible, just underwhelming just like most coasters at Heide Park. If you ask me, you might as well spend an extra day at Hansa Park instead.

      Heide Park is my home park, but after the first Colossos-less season I really wasn‘t feeling it anymore (also because the atmosphere deteriorated quite a bit after the park changed owners).
      Didn‘t visit the park for about three years. But having ridden Colossos again in it‘s refurbished glory (and speed, which for some reason was trimmed down quite a bit when it first re-opened) I can now definitely see myself going more often. There are better parks out there, but having lived in a few other countries I‘d say we can consider ourselves lucky to be able to complain about Heide Park XD

    When it opened I laughed about that tiny coaster (the ship wasn't already there and just the circle of teeth was laying NEXT TO the drop in the Water). But I learned to love it. Especially on the outer seats in the backrow, because, in case of airtime, there is a big difference between front and back.

  • @Soonjai
    @Soonjai 4 роки тому +19

    Best feature about Krake is that it soaks the path that located at the end of that Splash Down. When I visited last year some people didn't pay attention that a train was coming and they got wet to their bones.

  • @StamfordBridge
    @StamfordBridge 4 роки тому +9

    My experience was different. I’ve been on a lot of dive coasters and with rare exception they don’t do too much for me. And I knew this one was small and short. So I went in with little to no expectations. Probably for that reason, I was pleasantly surprised. I thought that drop was surprisingly great! I definitely enjoyed the ride.
    Btw, there’s an easily missed single rider line that will allow you to skip the long, slow line and walk right into the station.

    I agree It is strange that the splash effect is right after the drop but if you think about it, where else would they put it? I guess they wanted it there either because the immelmann whould be to intense without it or because it looks cool coming out of the pirate ship.

    • @noahberlin3953
      @noahberlin3953 4 роки тому

      They could put it after the immelman or the airtime hill

    • @Soonjai
      @Soonjai 4 роки тому

      They could have scaled up the Immelman to make it less intense.
      The real reason why the Splash is there is for the visual spectacle and to soak the path that is behind the Immelman.
      With how it is set up you can see the Splash from the other side of the large lake, you see it from a restaurant that is nearby, it gives great Photo Opportunities pretty much anywhere around the ride area.
      And just like the Splash zones for many Water rides, Krake's Splash zone is really popular among guests on hot days.

    Nice review Taylor! :) As a guy who lives in central Europe, Heide Park was my first Theme park I have ever visited and Krake was my first coaster I have ever ridden! I will never forget how it felt. I saw POV before my visit, but it was so much intense that I could image. I experienced gray out but didn't know what happened when I was on the coaster and even right after my ride. When me and my friend who sits next to and also experienced this for the first time, leave the station we looked to each other with faces which describes how incredible the ride it was. After few years I have visited Gardaland and rode Oblivion, I agree with you, that there are better dive coasters and I agree with 4/10 if it this result is in dive coasters category. Otherwise it is one of the best atractions in the park with absolutely amazing theming and absolutely great coaster which every coaster enthusiast should experience and will remember :)

    I absolutely agree with your opinion. Krake is a fun and well themed ride, but it is definitely too short. However, as you said, the average guest coming to the park will like it because it might be one of his first dive coasters, if not the first. And many of those people are impressed by that first drop, so they´re also a bit scared when they enter the ride. I also have to say that while Colossos is the most thrilling ride at Heide Park, Krake might be the most photogenic one. Even on the less frequented days, you´ll still see many guests sitting in the restaurant or on the terrace next to the splashdown to get some images of the train swooshing through the splashdown. And the panorama from the other side of the lake is just imposing.
    Btw, nice review and beautiful pronunciation of “Krake” and “Heide Park” ;)

    5:06 I'd never consider this a signature ride of the park, more so "Flug der Dämonen" at the time when Colossos was still closed and definitely Colossos as of 2019 and onwards.
    I was excited when I saw this review coming, the only dive machine I rode so far, at least it has the old restraints, but I think the score is appropriate. It's just the shortest and smallest (in drop height) dive machine. They could've added more, another turnaround and inversion for example, but I think they banked on "first dive coaster in Germany and first floorless dive coaster in Europe" so they were fine with cheaping out on track length... as those "records" were valid regardless of height or length.

    Krake is German for "octopus". I am quite familiar with this coaster as I've seen Theme Park Review's POV of this. I've always called it "Crake" but I guess "Kraka" sound right. Clearly I don't know German. I also thought is was short watching the POV. I literaly thought "That's it??". But nonetheless I have no interest in going to Europe at this time. But never say "Never!" I may change my mind and go... some day... And Taylor, as I was clicking on this video I instantly knew BEFORE watching the video that you didn't like this coaster. If you liked it you would've reviewed it already. Your European coaster tour was almost 2 years ago and here is Krake's review. Anyway stay safe and hope we enthusiasts are riding soon.

    Heide-Park seems to try more with recent additions. But their coasters are usually hit or miss. They tend to be at the forefront of coasters in germany with Krake (dive) and Desert Race (launched) and they used to have one of the first inverted hanging coasters (limit) AND the then biggest wooden coaster (colossus). They also have germany's only wing coaster (flight of the demons) which is actually really fun to ride. But since Heide-Park is VERY focused on family instead of thrill seekers, there's much more slower and boring rides. I wish we had something like Cedar Point or Six Flags MM here, but a trip to Heide-Park is usually enjoyable regardless. However, I have to agree. Krake is just underwhelming. It's 3 seconds of fun and then it's over. A real damn shame they went with sich a short ride, which, if I am not mistaken, was also due to room constraints.

      Fadirko as I said surely when you went. - Based on the fact he said in his video when he went Krake was the signature ride, cause Colossos was closed. - Altho Flug realistically should have been viewed as the main ride, it has one of the more unique Wing Coaster layouts too.

    I actually prefer Oblivion - both short rides but I think the hole and theming are better, feels faster somehow as well, even if there isn’t an inversion

    I actually don't really enjoy dive coasters that much. I'll go on one if a park has one, but I definitely can't say that any of my favorite coasters are dive coasters.

    I disagree about the waterbreaks, I think they're amzing. Just hanging upside down in that imalman and seeing that water come towards you is so amazing.

    If this is your opinion on Krake, I expect Oblivion The Black Hole's review to be similar to this, since the first half of the ride is almost identical

      It does not have the splashdown though so it doesn't lose so much speed. I liked Oblivion best of all Mini Dives I tried. Haven't been on Valkyria yet though.

      depending on the wind direction that can happen anyway. I rode it last row, left outer seat and I got a bit of the Water Spray on me. Doesn't soak you, but was still refreshing.
