Au5: makes the best supersaw I've ever heard
Also Au5: "but we can take this a step further"
Awesome tutorial! Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us.
That's is the thing :D
Bro, i was thinking the exact same thing!
It's like that commercial that goes, "But wait, there's more!" And you're like, "Omg, there's more!? 🤯"
@@aaronbazil and then in a few months he will say "A new best super saw"
@r1vers i will lose my shit 🤯
But we can't take it a step further still
Awesome!!
You late !
he's been busy making the next sample pack that'll carry pop music for the next 5 years
@@Slooby W comment
bro KSHMR APROVESS AAAAA
Even kshmr commented 😂
Genius, not only it sounds so full, it uses less cpu than the actual unison.
this, big this^^^
Oh man, I didn't even think of that!
yeah it is good to know better techniques but get a better computer if you want to get serious with your music.
Less cpu? What? Looool
@@liorsilverstein9802 No, big big no. Yes, more powerful gear can help, but it's not the end all be all, especially not in these days of abundant cpu power that can do just about everything you want at once - if you know what you're doing.
And this whole video is a good example of "knowing what you're doing". Instead of using the simpleton brute force method of stacking more and ever more voices, he uses one plus the chaos modulation trick - which saves a lot of CPU time while sounding much better at the same time.
Getting serious with your music isn't about spending big moneys, it's about learning how to use what you have most efficiently. And every run off the mill 500 moneys PC these days offers more than enough for everything you could ever want to do.
The Chaos modulation is so overlooked that i didn't know it existed!
oh yo
Same reaction
lol
Oh god even Sharks the legend of colour bass and vfx is here
@@mrcubepad4564 dude its au5
my excitement every time you say "we can take this a step further"
I see this having a lot of potential in the realm of hardstyle
The last time I heard a synth this full on hardstyle was probably subsonik's sandstorm remix
true
yes, indeed im working on it
@@Leonelf0 You havent listened to enough then
Hardstyle is already so muddy sounding this will just make it worse
Mindnumbing! Au5, the master of taking it 100 steps further 🙌🏽😆
But, we can take it a step further.
it's around 8:30 pm in the uk at the time of this video's release. oddprophet's probably gonna meet a sleep paralysis demon tonight.
LMAO
squidward isn't gonna be happy
lol wasn't he asking about this
Been using this exact same method for Hardstyle synth sounds for years. Interesting to see it become incorporated in other scenes.
This is game changing for melodic dubstep and future bass producers man. Thank you for spreading your knowledge.
Between this and Pitchmap we're set.
Not only melodic dubstep and future bass, but also hardstyle, trance, and Eurodance (and its derivatives Eurohouse and Eurotrance/Hands Up!/Dancecore).
@@DmitriLeon2000 drum n bass producer here and im extra set
@@DmitriLeon2000 that's exactly how DJs@Work lead sound is done
Awesome tutorial! For those using Vital, I suggest mapping the random noise generator oscillator to the fine tune of each lead oscillator.
Yay finally a Vital user here
@@TheEarlyAstrotype1024 we are few but strong
@@xeno_mania Apes together strong
Edit: Also you mean mapping the random oscillator in Vital to the lead oscillator? The sampler used to generate white noise in Vital can't be used as a modulation source. Also another limitation I found is that there's no "output" slider in Vital's matrix, so you may have to use the third oscillator as the "dry" signal for mixing in the noise oscillator signal
@@Afterscience742 yeah youre right. I actually.mapped the random oscillator using sample and hold at .001 seconds rate to get it to a suitable sound. I used the white noise in the sampler for actual noise in the output. And yeah, since there were no "output" values in the matrix you just have to change the modulation strength.
@@xeno_mania bro i couldn't get the sound. Can you tell in a brief manner?
This immediately made me think of Hardstyle Chords. This is kind of the aggressiveness in a sound that I'm looking for! Was looking for a fast random LFO for a while in order to make this type of sound and this just did the trick!
same.
Chaos unison is part of what makes the eurorack module Mutable Instruments Plaits have such a nice supersaw in its grainswarm mode.
Synth Tech E352 and other digital oscs from them also utilize chaos unison.
I've actually seen it appear more in Eurorack than in VST's, even though it sounds amazing for supersaws and the likes. Which is why I was pleasantly surprised to see it make an appearance in Serum!
Thanks for sharing!
This is going to save a lot of CPUs from catching fire one day. I love supersaw stacks, but when you layer a bunch of voices in each oscillator at the same time as well as playing chords, it's a lot on the CPU. Thanks for sharing this way.
Chaos control!
This is actually insane. Thank you for such awesome sound.
this is GOLD man , absolute magic . Totally loved it .
Man this is revolutionary! I can’t wait to hear songs using this and use this myself. Awesome sounds

I love the "BUT WAIT, THERE IS MORE!". You sir are a genius! Thanks for sharing
Good stuff - I love Au5 because he actually has a music background prior to producing and knows what he's talking about with regard to music theory.
this video just saved my serum workflow. thank u Mr. 5.
This is a game changer! Au5 you're the GOAT 🔥🔥🔥 I'm saving for SOB course. Almost there 🔥🔥🔥 I want moooooooorrreeeeee

Each tike he says 'let's take it a step further ' i m genuinely excited to know what will happen next ❤️❤️❤️
This whole thing that you're doing is really just fun, and an aspect of music that I really wish I know how to do as well and as expertly as you do. It's all fascinating to me, exploring different sounds. Alas, I'm only a singer lol (but I make sure I do this one very well)
crazy tutorial! you gotta upload more this stuff is super helpful dude ❤
That chord setup is godly. From the sound design to the chord/scale plugin layout, so awesome. Thanks for sharing and making such great tutorials that help others!
He keeps on saying “Let’s take it a step further”, and my mind keeps blowing
Thanks for the incredible tutorial, it sounds HUGE

Dude. Thanks SO MUCH for this tutorial !

It's so screechy and full. It sounds like the high frequencies are screaming which sounds AWESOME

You are a really good teacher. Love the vids
Bro is literally making a world a better place 😭🙏 tyy
Please Austin, never die! You're a legend 💙
Wow this actually sounds fuller than most of my attempts at traditional hypersaws.Definitely adding to the aresenal, thanks!
This is unbelievably clever, shows just how much Au5's spent time mastering the craft where his approach to a common problem is completely out of the box. Great tutorial man!
I m gonna have to watch this whole channel. :) Awesome stuff. Revolutionary!
P.s. how long are you in production?
this is HUGE. thanks for sharing your technique
Congratulations.Really clever and adavanced use of Serum features.

A master of Serum, awesome tut 👍👍
wow thats some real advanced sound design. thank you!
I've been trying to figure out for a while how ppl like Seven Lions and the Ophelia crew get these supersaws, you're a legend for sharing this!!! 🤘🔥🔥
Love that noise modulation! This is really a creative way to create a aupersaw patch. 👏🏻🚀🔥
Holly molly, this is amazing! Thank you for the grand tip Au5!
That's insane bro. Really creative!
Bout to do this and then FM A from B and detune annnnnyways. Such a fire supersaw, thanks for the tips.

This really is impressive and so enlightening !
I knew a video was coming after that tweet the other day, insane stuff
Thank you AU5 you are truly amazing
The greatest sound designer of all time
Wowwww! Thank you so much for this! Awesome tutorial!
Austin's (Au5) production is simply very unique and experimental. Compared to many Dubstep artists, Austin is all about Experimentation and uniqueness which are always audible in his songs.
This is a really old technique I've seen used for decades. Except traditionally we normally just assign an LFO to the pitch of some or all oscillators and add a small amount of fast LFO to create a heavy detuned effect. I have couple of hardware supersaw videos on my channel where you can hear the technique used on some of my patches, specifically there is a hardstyle lead I made, you'll have to find it on my channel. I might try make some crazier leads with a more intense pitch modulation LFO this weekend and replicate this Serum type of lead. But this Serum lead sounds pretty wicked. Good job mate, thanks for showing us.
You are a wizard, thank you for sharing this!
chaos mode is so underused by most producers. cool that you have found a super creative way to implement it. thanks for your help & improving my game amigo
I can feel my chord stacks getting better just from watching this video!
been producing for over ten years and this shit is making my head spin.
Revealing our hardstyle secrets O - O
love you man!.
Dope as always.
This is game-changing. Wow
this tutorial is very well done for example in Hard Dance
Thank you so much for sharing this! Every producer should see this it's just way better!
The only Au5 tutorial i understood 😂. Hoping to understand more in the future.
You're an absolute king
Wow! Thank you for this one!
Awesome. That was above and beyond bro. When you -19 to undo the effects of global pitch it was like I was witnessing a miracle.😂😂😂
crazy good! imma be using this from now :D thank you Au5!
oh miou mai! i love youuuuuuuuu!!!
Love this brother. May legit buy the Serum masterclass
Whole hardstyle community be taking serious notes right now...lol
:P Not at all man, this is extremely standard stuff in our world, but to be fair Supersaws have kinda been our thing for the last decades, so no disrespect there.
This technique is known from at least year 2001. Check out the track for that time, BBE - 7 Days 1 Week (Herby F. Remix), this one has a lead made most probably with that.
Huge difference indeed! 🤯
was having trouble getting some chords soundin good in a tune i was just workin on, googled it, and boom, they sound sick now lol. thanks!
Free chord stack upgrade?! Thank you very kindly Mr. Au5!!!!
