You are an inspiration to me... My husband left me at 59 yrs old and 43 yrs of marriage... But God is good and I to healed and moved to a different city , met a wonderful man and married again at 63 ! We have a nice peaceful life and I am truly blessed. I started watching you about a year ago; which was about 9 months after my late husband died from an awful illness of brain cancer. I was in deep despair. I was lost. Once I discovered you I started eagerly waiting for your video’s every week. You have been a lifeline for me with hope and love. As I isolated you were a friend who visited me within my home, and brought comfort. You reminded me of who I use to be. I love so many of the same things you do. Thank you so much. I came across your videos after hanging up with my youngest son. Feeling a ball of emotions. Sadness, confusion mixed with a feeling of a deep sense of needing to make some changes. I am turning 60 this year. I find myself in a new Season of life after losing my beautiful Mom in 2020 & my boyfriend who was my best friend 6 months ago both from Covid. I think I’ve watched 4 videos so far. I have cried so much not from sadness but a feeling of inspiration. You are such a Beautiful woman. Full of life. Like you, I don't feel strong enough to hope. But I am certainly able to dream of the life I want for myself after my husband left our 26years of marriage. It's very difficult to lose both a husband and a best friend.
Susan, I admire you lot. You are no doubt my inspiration to dream and work in the life I want for myself.

Two years next week my husband committed suicide on my birthday. He was an alcoholic and a drug addict. We had just bought this little cottage on the lake. Thank God he didn’t die here. I have embraced this little lake cottage and have made myself busy making it a home. I am making it by myself. It can be done, I am living proof and so are you!

Taking things one day at the time is easier said than done. Four years ago I ended a thirty year marriage cause of mental abuse and right now after a lot of hard times and really finding myself and my voice and a great new best friend I have just survived cranial surgery where a aneurysm was clipped. Physically it’s the hardest thing I’ve ever been thrue but emotionally is the healthiest I’ve ever been. I’m 65 and live with my tiny 12 year old yorkie in a lovely apartment with a great patio and my life is full, I’m happy, I love my church family and they are always there for me. You can find happiness and peace at any age . God bless you

I am not Muslim; and I agree with what you have said. The idea of "manifesting" seems to me to be a North American "woo-woo" idea. Gratitude builds a positive attitude and helps open doors.

It's just that the power to will things into being is a very high power and it's hard to believe we mere mortals are capable of such greatness.

My husband and I downsized in 2004, he got sick in 2006, died in 2014.. for the first two years I was numb I couldn’t do anything in the house. I often thought about moving. But I have the best neighbors. I’ve been here for 19 +years and even though some of my neighbors left, I feel so safe here. I asked the Lord every day if he wants me to move let me know.. so far no answer so that’s my answer.❤ I love my five perennial gardens their small, but their mine❤ I am so happy for you and Desi that you feel safe and your neighbors are neighborly.😊have a blessed week, again, thanks for sharing💐💐love the floral Christian near the end👍🏻👍🏻

It's wonderful to see you blooming happily in your new home - I'm a flower farmer, so I'd love to come help you do your garden! - and I'm SO impressed with how you have reinvented yourself after your divorce and grown your life, and your UA-cam channel! It's AMAZING! And a huge credit to your resilience and naturally joyful spirit. Plus, your little man, Desi is obviously a gorgeous companion! I relate so much to your story as my husband - whom I loved deeply - abandoned me after 16 years of marriage for a woman he met on the internet and knew for eight weeks! I was fighting cancer at the time, my two children were only 8 and 13, and I freely admit that I was plunged into to a scary, dark, ugly, wretched place for years and years, as I was dumped and divorce without any explanation or another word being spoken to me. He left and never gave me a backward glance. So I relate keenly to how you talk about the complex feelings that come about after a marriage ending in such a traumatic manner. It's a terrible shock, and it takes heroic courage to make the choice to recover, whenever that eventually happens. It absolutely is NOT a straight line, and it takes many, many stops and starts along the way! I have spent the past 16 years reinventing myself - I've also had three other cancer relapses in that time - due to the insane stress I was put under - so I consider myself a real warrior of life! - and now I live on my own, I have a lovely home, I'm surrounded by my darling children and devoted friends, I have my own beautiful community on Instagram who follow my style and life, I grow gorgeous flowers that bring great joy to many people, and I'm happy to say I'm happy. It's taken years and years for me to rebuild my life, but you are so right, we CAN MAKE IT ON OUR OWN! I love that you are encouraging so many women to be at peace with where they find themselves at this age and stage of life - especially for those of us who didn't imagine we'd be where we are - and I thank you for the wonderful community you have built here to support each other. Oh my… what you have fought back from and against. Thank you for sharing; you have offered a senior woman hope as chemo for one cancer almost killed me… my oncologist told me she had to transfer my care to another oncologist and recover before I could start radiation. She said (it was during early covid) that I could no longer live alone… I was losing my balance & falling out of the shower 🚿 my blood work was plummeting… you know the drill… my former husband told me to come live with him, across the country, close up my condo (my 1/2 sister from Buffalo drove here with her husb to help me close up my small condo) and put me in a wheelchair for the plane ride to a familiar face, kind treatment and it was a respite in the spare bedroom, my own bath and I slept for 3 days! He was afraid I died and kept checking to see if I was breathing…) Fast forward to today and I am doing well, work part-time and if I make the “5 yr mark” we are celebrating 🥳 as the best of friends with a trip to Hawaii! I am SO grateful 🥹 What a community we have here! Susan reminded us tonight to talk about the good feelings… we have all faced our own ginormous challenges! Look at us grow, change, survive and even thrive ❤ Know this is long but Susan has created this special community! Amen 🙏🏻

We have been in our downsized cottage for 8yrs. I love all my neighbors ❤ I know their kids, pets, give & recieve cookies on holidays but at the same time nothing more than friendly conversations and keeping a eye out on each other's houses. Just enough, but not to much. Apparently once they saw me making my yard nice it inspired them and also the cookie exchange. It's great to have good neighbors ❤❤❤

I totally relate. My husband left me and our 7 dogs just one day without a word. Everything from what I thought was an amazing life to my world turned upside down. I am still on the path to healing and finding out my purpose with my new life now. It's an emotional painful struggle but your videos are comforting because it's like you understand. Hi Susan I loved your video this week. I’m on my own now after my spouse abandoned the relationship after 34 years. Everything you mentioned seems to be my emotions constantly. Trying to pick up the pieces of my life everyday. Starting over being grateful for a spoon or fork when I had such a great life before the breakup so I thought. Now I’m getting strong everyday not exactly where I want to be but grateful to God for each new day. Creating plans and setting goals for a brighter future. LP: Susan, I'm voting for the Great Gatsby Caftan. The simplicity of the flowers are sporadic and appear hand painted. The Asian infleunce gives and the way it drapes adds to its designer look. It also provides a bit of coverage to the upper arms, without adding the bulkiness of a jacket.

For a wedding, I liked the dark dress at the beginning that had a white coat and a wide white belt - then a purse by Patricia Nash - it looked formal and it would be beautiful with pearl necklace / pearl earrings, or nice gold jewelry. Thank you for always showing such positivity and compassion for your neighbor! The Good Lord has blessed you more than a hundred-fold. So interesting how so many of us share the same feelings at the end of a long marriage or relationship. Scared, guilt, feeling sorry for ourselves, etc. But almost always we pull through and usually do better down the line! Desi is the epitamy of a happy little dog! I like the grey and white dress because it is subdued. A wedding is about the bride and groom, not about the guests. Meaning that a guest should not outshine the bride.

The Christian Siriano Tierd Maxi Dress is the most summery to me but I also like the Great Gatsby Chiffon dress on you. The others are lovely but these two stood out for me, especially for a wedding. That was part of this video - the beginning though was full of honesty, heartbreak, struggles and then turning that corner to find the joy in every day life! Those who are able to be grateful for the smallest of blessings gain the most in their lives (IMHO). Thank you for sharing - hugs.

Hi Susan. Regarding the dresses. The Christian Siriano Dark blue with flowers really brings out your features and color. The white one with flowers by the same maker would be the runner up in my opinion. All of the dresses were beautiful, however, those two really stood out. Hope this helps. My vote is for the 1-Great Gatsby dress followed by the 2-Starry Night dress. I think these two dresses are more unique, very feminine and they flatter you. What's wrong with "trying too hard?" Small town living is where it's at! The big blue house reminds me of a couple homes I grew up in. So lovely! In fact, I went up to WI this past weekend for a family reunion and got to see the different homes where we lived. Very nostalgic. As for the dresses, the first dress is my favorite, though I do like the floral (white background) by Christina (something).
Susan, I am so happy for you. I love your cottage and I especially love seeing sweet Desi in his yard surveying his kingdom. That precious baby that was kept in the closet, found his happily ever after when he found you.
I have shared some of my story here, but I’m not sure I shared about forgiving “them” and forgiving myself. I made numerous bad decisions in my previous life, my life as a single woman after a long term marriage.
I had to forgive myself, every poor decision taught me something, every tear, shaped me into the person I am today both good and not always so good😉.
I could wallow in my self righteousness, or I could forgive and move on. It was not easy and I still have to be mindful of me falling backwards.
I remind myself, I can’t change the past, I have no control of others the only person that I can control is me. We are not responsible for what others do, we are responsible for ourselves. We are responsible from what we put back into this world and what our legacy will be.
You are a amazing example of working towards your goal and it may of taken some time, but you my dear precious friend, arrived exactly where you are supposed to be. ❤

I love The Great Gatsby so far. I love that you are making friends with your neighbors and aren't isolated in the new town. I've lived on my street for over 20 years and only know one of my neighbors. It's mostly rentals and people move in and out so fast, no one bothers to even learn their names.
Love your dresses, they are all beautiful. I just love long dresses, I have worn them around the house for many years and still do. They are warm in the winter and cool in the summer....Love your neighborhood too, It reminds me of my neighborhood growing up, where you knew your neighbors for many blocks around, not just your immediate one. I had an aunt next door, a grandmother across the street and a great-grandmother around the corner. You and Desi were made for this neighborhood. You both look content and not just happy, but joyful. My hubby and I bought our retirement home last year . It is a 1901 farmhouse . We live in a small Kansas town where the neighbor's are the same, They would give you the shirts off their backs. I have never lived in a place where we feel so welcomed. We have had people after people stop and talk to us when we sit on our porch swing to tell us that we have done a wonderful job of fixing her up and so glad we bought her. I tell my husband it is like living in Mayberry, hahahahahaha Your home is lovely, Susan it is so you. I can see how hard you have worked to get to this stage and little desi couldn't be happier you can just see it in his face. Hope your 4th of July is wonderful.

I just turned 60 on Thursday. I’ve been alone and in my apartment for 20 years. To be honest I’m scared, 60 seems so scary to me. I’ve always been a very happy and social person. Now I’m so depressed, I don’t want to leave my house. I feel like I don’t fit in anywhere. A few weeks ago I had to leave my job due to a common old age health issue, I’ve always been in great health . The doc said no more jobs on your feet for 8 hours, find something else. That’s when it hit me that I’m getting older and can’t do what I used to.
Hello....I feel your concern! I can't stand for hours and hours anymore...lots of pain. But we adjust and life is still great! we just have to find work-arounds! I am 8 years older than you and I felt very afraid of turning 70....but now I just realize I may have to " modify" a few things...but nothing is going to stop me from enjoying each day...I so want you to be happy!! I’m 63 and happy so am sharing some of my happiness with you. I have been unhappy before and somehow got through. You will too. Try to dream a little about a few small things - a library card, a coffee out, a meal somewhere different, a smile to your neighbor or a stranger, just something to kind of shake up your routine, even if it is uncomfortable at first. Sometimes you have to fake it to make it. You deserve to be happy, don’t forget that. Good luck and hang in there.

In 2010 I moved from a very large Texas city to a tiny little town in east Texas. Population 500. It took forever for me to get use to the slowness. We built a new little house way out in the country. I absolutely love it. I could never go back to the large city. We don't even have to lock our doors!! It is so safe. People are so friendly. Enjoy your new home.

Forgive my personal comments about my circumstances, but I am so glad I started watching you several months ago! I live in Texas, I am 72. 2 grown children, 1 lives 5 1/2 hours away and one about 45 minutes away. I have 7 grandchildren, 2 are grown and the other 5 are 8 to 14 years old. Growing fast!
My husband of 44 years died of cancer almost 5 years ago. Sometimes it seems more like 15 years ago and sometimes about 5 weeks ago.! Sometimes like “The Twilight Zone”.
This year would have been our 50 year anniversary. And I will plan something, even if I have to celebrate by myself!
I haven’t always understood exactly what happened in your life, just that you were alone. I know it hurts. Love hurts! Losing love hurts!
But it appears to me that you are living a great life.
Whether you know it or not, you are helping and encouraging others. And that is a blessing!

I live in a small town in Alabama and have lived here for almost 50 years. I wouldn’t trade my life for anything. It’s knowing you have a community that prays for you and knows your name.
An update: I am staying with my father who has dementia. It is so hard. He gets up at night. Goes outside, yells, and needs so much help. You look into his eyes and see such a blankness. He isn’t there. He asks the same question every 30 minutes.
Please pray for me. I miss my home. I miss my Dad…who isn’t there…just a shell.
