WWI Reenactment 2022 GoPro AEF 28th Infantry clearing out French lines

- Side note:
Reenactors use a safety rule called the “bang bang” rule. If you are within close proximity of somebody but not close enough for hand to hand combat, in order to “kill” you must say “bang bang” instead of shooting a blank. If a blank round is shot that close, it could result in hearing loss and serious injury. At the end of the day, we all know what is more realistic but we still need to go home after this to our families.
This is GoPro first person footage of the largest WWI reenactment in the US. This event takes place every year in Newville PA. This event is private to reenactors only. You must become a GWA member and join a unit to participate in this event. This was recorded by a GoPro hidden in a gas mask bag positioned on my chest.

If you do, come join the 109th! We are the largest AEF unit at Newville.
Also try joining the 193rd soviet rifles, they fight against ww2 germans in the same newville trench system! Also soviet reenacting is the cheapest, and pps43 parts kits off of bowman arms are only 100 bucks!

Just a question, where do you guys carry your go pros? I assume a harness and in your chest? Under the uniform?
For WWII i carry mine on my helmet hidden in a first aid pack. For WWI i carry it on my chest in my gas mask bag mounted on my filter canister.

Well, they are from the Russian Expeditionnary Force in France, equipped and traîner by the French

Please don’t. You have nothing to gain but a bad back, bad knees, and losing your self worth. I speak from experience. There’s nothing you can’t do without joining first, unless you have a plan and a skill you think the army will get you to faster.

@@sgt_sally I always thought it was interesting that in the Great War there were 2 brigades per Div with 2 Regts per Bde. By the Second war the Army had rid of all Brigades & only left two 1st (no insignia) & 2nd Airborne Inf Bde(one of the coolest patches of the war).
And.... only 3 Regt per Div. Pretty neat his toh reee.

Did war medics need rifles?
Duh, even though it's a war crime to shoot medics it was still necessary for them to carry rifles for protection
Nope. They went in unarmed because a medic wasn't supposed to be fired upon IF they did not present a threat to a soldier or soldiers.
As an example, an unarmed medic running around helping wounded would not qualify for a valid target and shooting said medic would be a war crime. But if said medic was holding a rifle or a pistol and firing in order to provide covering fire then it meant he could be shot and killed as he posed a threat to enemy soldiers.
Of course, in the heat of battle things happen. I know that in the Pacific theatre the Japanese were so ruthless they would target medics on purpose using their red cross armbands as targets. This was a war crime but you couldn't exactly go over and yell at them for not following the rules, so medics/corpsmen would be armed.
@@EstonianShark the japs targeted medics a loooot i know wrong time period but this means it has been thought of, i wouldn't be surprised if the medics did carry a rifle
If I did the Great War I would choose Imperial Russia or U.S. Marine Corps.
They have both of those at this event.
