Why Did You Design Things This Way??? | #transformers MP-24 Star Saber - Розваги
Star Saber was actually designed by Kunio Okawara, the original designer of the Mobile Suits in the both the original Gundam and up to Gundam Unicorn. So saying he looks like or has a Gundam vibe is actually pretty accurate.
You could sneak this in a gundam collection and just say it was a custom made gunpla
I've gotta say that unicorn is my favorite transformer.
Yeah, even my friend thought it was a Gundam too 🤣🤣
Triple zeta
First off you have to remember that this is a 12+ year old toy. Ankle tilts and the omniversal posability thing wouldn't come around for a VERY long time.
The sword is flat because 1) cartoon, 2) those giant wrist cuffs

“Star Saber has always given me Gundam vibes”
He actually bears a striking resemblance to Combattler V/Voltes V, which is still close enough. Being about mechs instead of living robots, is def the vibe Transformers Victory gave me.
Killer vid, keep at it!
Funny thing is is that star saber was designed by the same guy who designed most Gundam, along with other various Japanese robo
Especially since in the Finale Star Saber had a Head mounted machine fire he used against Deathsauras
Combattler, Voltes and Daimos were actually made by Sunrise for Toei.
We were on the verge of greatness. We were this close to providing a perfect MP Star Saber to the fandom.

I have this figure and it is easily my favorite transformer. That being said my copy is not perfect, but I honestly could not care less since this was my first masterpiece and I was astounded by its engineering and quality.
You vouldnt care less when he cant even hold his sword properly
Referring to Saber:
A masterpiece figured with Energon hips is crazy
Here's hoping for a 2.0 MP of Star Saber. I know it won't happen right now thanks to Haslab, but still. And hopefully they don't cancel Victory Leo again. Also, do a Dezarus!
Has lab looks ugly with those chug details. Make ‘em look cheap af
@@pandaflieszeppelin what chug details are you referring to?
@@ripleyfuriosa5701 just the detailed lines they have... instead of smooth surface like MPs have.
@@pandaflieszeppelin The mold detailing is the best part! Smooth surfaces are boring to look at.
@@ripleyfuriosa5701 hate those personally. big fan of smooth stuff hence i only buy mps.
This review is exactly why I went with the IVR Star Saber for my MP representation...posing means a lot to open box collectors & for MP this should've been a posing gem at the price Takara sold it at...this release should've gotten the MP-44 treatment especially for as big of a character he is in Japan...
It feels weird finding an unlisted video like this.
How the hell you do this
@@kaidinthomas3204 probably keyboard smash or some kind of link generator
@@kaidinthomas3204 pretty simple, it was in one of the playlists on the channel.
I really love starsaber and was really hoping to get the Haslab one before the poll closed, but some issues in my life came up and prevented me from getting it. That, and the fact that the last day to support it was on my mother's birthday, witch I figured would be rude to go out and spend $180 on a transformer than getting her something nice for once. But yeah, I still dream of having starsaber added to my collection.
It’s available on Amazon, currently, but it’s a bit more than a pretty penny… (approx. $400)
I have MP Star Saber on display, he never been off Display, at the moment, he combined with a third party Victory Leo, thou my Star Saber did get a upgrade on the hands and the inner joints of his legs, plus I did acquire a bigger sword blade for the larger robot mode, I felt the original was just to small for such a large robot, of course, it was clear they wanted to make a Victory Leo for him but never did, which is why I got the third party figure but that one has issues as well, such as staying up on SS's back, the connector between the two halves that fold over is son tiny it broke easily, good for display purposes but lifting up, the lower half flops down on one side due to the fact it broke!
i love Star saber because the transformers victory anime is awesome...
I have this and I love it. I want to get the iron trans version because it just does everything this can't. It can pose like an amazing action figure and it looks amazing. Maybe check it out
i do think the haslab one will most likely come out better
It fucking better.
I mean, I won't own one but it would be really good for those who DO want and WILL have this.
Considers there's a good few years between the Masterpiece release and the Haslab one. Hasbro should be the better one since they had years to make improvements.
I got this at the start of the year. I think it's amazing. Saber and star saber. Although weapon storage got me tho
This really reminds me of the ZZ gundam, with the combination/transformation thing.
Great review! And as soon as I saw Star Saber fully assembled, the Transformers Victory song began to play in my head!
considering this was a $150-$175 USD collectible new. I think i meets everything required of it especially for being a star saber that separates as beautifully as this one does and it definitely(to me) looks 100 times better than the haslab one
1. Scratching: ohhh, the gold chrome and those tampographed Autobot symbol outlines are gonna be *THE FIRST* things to go over time...yesss.
2. Is this a flawed figure? Absosmurfinlutely. Do I care? Absosmurfinlutely not. This was my first dive down the Masterpiece wabbit hole...won it from a contest in a Facebook group nearly a decade ago.
3. I almost forgot: there were several other MPs that are literally the G1 toys with extra steps and better looks. The Datsuns, MP28 Hot Rod/MP40 Targetmaster Hot Rod, and MP13 Soundwave all come to mind (but not MP13B Soundblaster, the integrated chest compartment replaces the G1 toy's expanded door, so he don't count).
the arm articulation (including the weird wrist bends) is all in service of him being able to hold the sword in front of him with both hands. that's why there are multiple hilts for the sword included even.
I am actually surprised you got his chest unit in an out so easily. Every time I pry him out, it feels like I can lose a nail or two.
Those hip ratchets were so loud that they made my ears tingle everytime they moved 😂
Star Saber looks really cool but I feel like he looks more like a Gundam than a transformer.
Just the difference between US and Japanese transformers.
I prefer Japanese people's way to design robots, like Star Saber, Liokasier, Deathsaurus, etc.

@@DrPhoenixJKZ and all the 84-85 Diaclone Transformers? 😉
@@Transfixed Those good, too! After all, Diaclone goes first, then Transformers happens.
I like the look and feel of this guy a lot more than the new one coming out. It just looks more premium. The new one look like it's made out of the same soft, cheap plastic as a lot of Hasbro's offerings in modern times.
Yeah. It's not perfect (as the video shows) but I think that MP Star Saber is absolutely fantastic. I especially like the smoothness of it. The Haslab version has a lot of texture, like most Generations toys. Sometimes, those fine details and textures are very cool. But in the case of Star Saber, I think a smooth texture suits him best.
@@daviddalrymple2284 I own him too. I go back and forth on if the acres of white space look crisp and clean or look a bit cheap. He's made of very nice plastic but he can look a bit like a lower quality toy than he actually is from a distance.
Really don';t get why this guy didn't get a figure in Power of the Primes.
He lost the fan vote poll, that's purely it
Thanks to Buyee. I actually manged to get g1, masterpiece and robot masters star sabers for my collection when haslab arrives.😊

That part of the design was inspired by the TV show. In Transformers Victory, they always showed Star Saber holding his sword with the flat pointed at the enemy. This was because he could use it to reflect enemy lasers back at them, Jedi Style.
Gotta love how I can't find one anywhere because stock issues.
0:30
For the record, the Robot Master Star Saber is small. In his Super Robot mode, he's about as big as the Saber figure without the V-Star
you can get the upgrade parts for star saber to tighten those rachets...
Yeah..... can't wait to get the commander class.
Great review 👏🏻
I don't think i've heard the word "grundle" before but now i have and it gave me a chuckle.
DID YOU SAY GUNDAMMMMNN??!
Man I am starting to realise that if u get a perfect transformer ie t everything moves great, no paint issues etc, etc. Then u really ar quite lucky.
saw it open, drills hole, put lego technic parts in. Paint it over with gunpla pens.
It's actually insane he has so few toys and media depictions to speak of. Easily one of the most dynamic-looking Autobot leaders and that Brainmaster gimmick looks like child crack.
I just hate when I order an entire case if transformers go transformers
Do you think you will review the haslab deathsaurus if it gets backed?
Personally, when it comes to robot that combines and transform, pose-ability is not something I expect a lot. If I want a well poseable transformers, I would get the Revotech line or some other line where the robot cannot transform or combine. Take Threezero for example. Great robots! None of them transform, and I have no problem with that.
To me all mps after 22 and before ratchet/Ironhide are kinda like the transitional phase when they are beginning to shift to the anime styling.
Being a fan voted figure I hope they'll redo it in future
Is there anyplace that you can order the haslab one because I missed out on funding it
They probably didn't give it as much of a budget because there's less repaint / remold / variant potential to increase revenue returns.
I have 3 different versions of the Robot Masters toy and all 3 of them have a different color. 2 of them look very similar and the other one is black. So maybe if they wanted to do a repaint they could do so. Who knows what with the big toy companies? But I wish that Hasbro and Takara Tomy would just make a main line production of this character.
I own this star saber and love it just hate my 1 foot falls off need to find away to get it to stay in place
Even with these flaws. I still believe I can find this guy cheaper than haslab Victory saber.
Saber is basically space magnus.
If I'm honest, it does bring gundam vibes to it
Lucky I need kazen and the lion one from go so my Optimus express can combine with something lol
that ratchet joint scares me beyong belief
I think we need a 2.0 treatment for MP Star Saber considering we have redo of MP Optimus, Megatron, and Starscream.
So… what are you gonna do with the extra Kenzans?
I'm surprised people are actually complaining about the articulation on this toy. Keep in mind it's almost a decade old. I've always been able to get tons of amazing poses with my MP Star Saber, and it's my favorite toy in the whole collection. Maybe I'm just biased because I have learned how to work around the limitations when posing.
You realize that mainline figures from 5 years before this was released have better articulation than it, right?
@@tracytron7162 Give me one figure a similar size as Star Saber with anywhere close to this level of posability from 2009.
@@notgray88 ROTF Leader Optimus Prime
Does that mean your also considering of getting the iron trans star blade which kinda fixed some of the issues you have with the mp.
Just goes to show how ahead of it’s time the original star saber toy was
The V star reminds me of Prime Ultra Magnus' ship
Star Saber is one chunky boi.
My G1 is yellowing which is heart breaking. But I think it's unavoidable. I do agree the hips on Saber are bleh. But I rarely have Saber by himself (that may change with Haslab).
Hydrogen peroxide can whiten it up
This figure would definitely be my “CHUG” Star Saber if I could get him
It's okay for anything pre-CW, but he is huge and slightly out of scale even then. But it was and is a fantastic figure
Not sure I've ever heard it referred to as a toy's grundle
wait how did you get wrecker springer so early!?
Well looks like this guy needs a 2nd masterpiece figure to fix all of the problems this one has.
Looks like you have a KO copy. Do you have the box it came with so you can check?
It's not a ko, everything about it is official. The first run of the figure had joint issues back when it released
Masterpiece, noun:
"A work of outstanding artistry, skill, or workmanship."
*cough*
The deal you got was insane i got mine off ebay for $300 usd but i also got it woth the KFC hands
How are you going to buy star saber haslab but when it won't let you buy it
this figure is fine idk what people have against this figure
Cool
This was pretty much when mp figures lost there magic to me
12:38 Whoops. Audio error. Repeated a line.
@@Wevegottosticktogether so he missed it. It's polite to let people know. Maybe he's got a backup version and wants to fix it in that edit.
The upgrade kit for this is essential!
i do agree is like MP-24 Star Saber is rush made. wish takara made it more better for mp star saber..but i like the 3 rd party Iron Trans IR-V01 Star Blade because is more super robot design.
Star Saber was a bit of a wildcard release in a line which had previously only done 84-86 characters.
This one's a mixed bag. Yes, it looks really good and "anime" accurate which is enough for me. I don't understand why anyone would expect this to do a variety of poses. First off, it's a toy. It's not a figure designed to pose. I think you get that kind of flexibility from something you build like a Gunpla. The minute you introduce joints that allow for more bending, is the second the structure of the unit falls apart under its own weight. I think a non-transforming version with better flexibility would be better.
Wow! I had no idea this figure was such a "brick"! I'm glad I skipped this one. Man! I hope that the Haslab Star Saber is better.
I wonder but have you bought the idw version of this guy a company did? Hes really good from reviews
Not yet, I want to get it but buying it as a Canada is expensive ATM so I'm just waiting
I'm still salty years later even after leaving mainline TF collecting where star saber lost the power of the primes poll to primal, then primal and alot of more beast wars bots got some love again and more than ever in kingdom as star saber got shafted for years to come
But the real question is: Is Toy Guy gonna get Haslab Deathsaurus
Got mine and his whole elbow joint is missing
I love this guy
Mp Starsaber is all sizzle and no stake..a major disapiontment.....a sword weilding maniac who cant hold his sword properly
everything before mp33 is just outdated, I expect everything that hasnt gotten a v2 or v3 will in the next few years
will you get iron trans star saber
I know why the Y-joint is called it cause why did they design it like that
how dare you call them a "sword wielding maniac"
I cannot stand Y-joints. Any new figure that uses Y-joints is just a HUGE step backwards and do not understand why designers even think that's ok. I think this MP figure was a fan voted figure. That's probably why it feels like a lot of corners were cut.
Why did you get a whole case of Kensans?
keith fans club victory leo and the upgraded hands, that is what it needs
Kinda werid when you type in item you want on Buyee , sometimes it won’t show up if your log in , 🎃

Wow, so one of the most expensive MP figures is actually kinda crap...
1:31 (stare in confusion) I bought a medium sized pillow case for free with $12 shipping a couple years ago. What you mean?
No cast metal, unpainted, empty arms. That's a retail release.... not a mp
am I the only one who actually likes this figure
I actually like it to
Pog
Lego should take a crack at him
Star Saber was designed by Kunio Okawara
Irontrans star saber is the way to go

Hmm
Can I have one of the extra oones?
I think the thight on yours are defectibe mine moves perfectly fine and the outward movement on mine is also much more better
